About 20 years ago I was in a 5-yr long relationship with a narcissist, and we lived together (in my house).The most disturbing message I ever received was on my landline. I came home from work one day to find 32 voicemails on my answering machine! Yes, 32 voicemails in one day! Wow! I was surprised, but an excited surprised! So I started to listen to them. My stomach sank, I started feeling wiped out like all my energy was draining out of me, I started to get that prickly feeling on my face and head, and then I was shocked! All 32 messages…were from me! They were voicemails I had left him on his cell phone over the course of our 5 year long “relationship".It blew my mind as to why he would do that! Back in those days, not everyone had a cell phone, and I was one of those, hence the landline. I am guessing he had to play each one of those voicemails from his cell phone, while on speakerphone, hold it to the answering machine and phone which were connected to my wall..and repeat 31 more times!He just “happened” to be there in the kitchen while I saw the 32 flashing on the answering machine (so he could see my excitement), and then while I started listening to them (so he could see how he was controlling my emotions and bringing me down). He said he did it to show me how my voice was different in each voicemail, and that I'm crazy.That to me, was the most disturbing voicemail(s) I had ever received.Important Note: If you are currently in a narcissistic relationship, as the haunted house would say, “GET OUT!"

I even remember the era when not everyone had a telephone. At my grandma’s country house, the neighbors were in that case, so whenever there was a call for them, we had to ring a bell across the garden, and it would take five good minutes for them to arrive. The big thing is that you could not join people at all if they were not home or not at their workplace. That was the primary goal of cellphones : to be able to be joined anytime anywhere. Ironically, now we have them, it still can be just as difficult joining people as it was then…What we could never get used to again is that, until the last decade of the 20th century, phones were not cordless. Which meant you had to go and answer, and then couldn’t move during the conversation. If it lasted hours, your body would feel sore. There were no ringtones, but one and only shrill sound that would inform you someone was calling (for unknown reasons, it was slightly different in the US and Europe, you can check from old movies). Only in the 80’s, voicemail started to appear, as did touchtone. You had to dial numbers by inserting your fingers in holes, pull, and then release.Payphones were part of the urban landscape in the 20th century. Only Britain had those pretty red booths that older people probably miss. Otherwise, payphones looked drab most of the time, the French ones were remarkably ugly. You had to carry change to use them, and they were often out of order. Or then they were busy and you had to queue up, sometimes several people would stand in line.Teenagers would not have liked it : most did not have a personal phone. It was often the parents who picked it up, and sometimes asked who it was! There was no possibility to know who was calling, or to blacklist numbers. The major plus is you didn’t have to reload the battery all the time.But one thing has not changed : getting a call from your crush was just the same. And if one hung up, nothing ever stopped any desperate lover to call back, sometimes fifty times in a row…

You could try Twitter- that’s been shown to work previously, when Trump went after a few direct critics by personal handle. Chances are that that won’t happen now, given that he is being inundated by an extremely high volume of backlash-tweets on everything he tweets since inauguration. But, then again, no harm in trying. This is the least expensive and easiest-to-execute method on this list.You could try working at the White House, but even then, you need some serious security clearances from the Secret Service and years of experience before you can get to meet him on a regular basis (as, say, a butler). Even then, there’s no way in hell you can talk to him.You could try showing up at a rally, but even then you’re a member of the crowd. Try going up there with a distinct message and you’ll be punched out, called out, and expelled.You could try meeting up at Mar-a-Lago or hang out at Trump’s golf courses, provided you have the money. The chances of you meeting the Donald then are high. If you ‘donate’ to him, either through business or through (wink, wink) PAC contributions, there’s a good chance you’ll get to speak to him as well. But then again, you don’t pay Trump to have him listen to you. You pay him to make sure he stays away from you.And then there’s the whole Russian thing, but chances are that you’ll just hit Don Jr.’s voicemail. Trumpville is on edge, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that they don’t want to recklessly endanger their legal situation for the n-th time with an active investigation into the same conduct during the campaign on the line. Right?You could also try writing to him. Adopt a respectful, fawning tone. Try using flattery. Say that you’re one of the ‘silent majority’ and that you’re tired of seeing immigrants stealing your cattle and raiding your ranch. Say that you know God sent Trump down here to make us great again. That kind of stuff. He might actually get someone to read it to him.Be on Fox and Friends. Call em up, request them for an interview or a screen test. If they don’t respond, call them again. E-mail them. Go to their office and beg. Show them your credentials running the conservative radio show at college. Tell them you’ll take a salary cut and sign a non-disclosure agreement that prevents you from sueing them. Get on the air at 6:00 AM EST and speak to him straight up. Once you’re done, skedaddle.
