Paying $5 a month every month for the next 10 years amounts to a measly $600 in total payments. After I’ve satisfied the timely payments every month for 10 years, the government will completely forgive the other $34,000+ that I owe.That means I don’t need to worry about trying to make extra payments each month to hopefully pay it off sooner and avoid the interest. I can just make the minimum payment of 5 stinkin bucks a month for the next decade then all the rest of it will vanish into thin air.I don’t know if this knowledge is commonplace among the minds of Americans.
