Back story; Grandad and Nan 5 children. D(19yrs), J(18yrs), W(16yrs), my mum (15yr) and C (2yrs old). When my Nan was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Grandad, Nan, mum and C moved to the main city while Nan was being treated. Nan didn’t survive so when Grandad, mum and C stayed in Melbourne. Mum met my dad, got married had me. C stayed and lived with grandad until he got married and moved out.Now to the reason I cut ties; My grandad was like a second dad to myself, he was (and still is) my closest person. My mum, C and grandad did everything together. We are a very close family.grandad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, as usual our family rallied around him, however D and J decided that they were going to ‘support’ him as well. J was a drug addict and D never really had anything to do with grandad when I was growing up. This is where his will comes into play, grandad never made it any secret what was in his will. C got his house because he grew up in it and did all the work on it, everything else got sold and the money split between the 5 kids. Even the grandkids knew what would happen.Grandad passed away in October it broke our hearts, Christmas Eve we (mum, my dad and I) got a phone call from J saying that her and D were contesting his last will and testament. Things got very nasty to the point where I had to get a restraining order put in place because J was threatening me and threatened to kill me at my wedding. J also threatened my mum because during the time it come to light that my mum was molested when she was around the age of 7 and some of the phone calls were that she enjoyed it so J would organise someone to continue.They ended up getting 2/3’s of the house, mum forfeited her money to give to C because he was the baby of the family but also had a young family of his own.The reason I cut ties wasn’t due to the money (I wasn’t getting any of it) it was because Grandad had never hidden what was to happen when he died and they promised that they would honour his wishes but once he was gone they didn’t think twice of dishonouring him and causing a lot of grief in the process.So 8 years later and I have nothing to do with D or J, W lost her husband 6 years ago to MND so in a small way grandad helped bring us all together because Mum and W had lost touch due to kids and living 300km away but now their back to talking3 times a week.Sorry if this doesn’t all make sense; I’ve typed it on a phone while holding my two yr old.
