The app will combine links from various websites and apps and app suggestion and that will help you explore the city more (knowledge-wise). You may even get a suggestion in the results to open google maps ! So google app is like a really smart tool that specializes on combining data from various sources. You use this app if you dont really know where you can find the data you are looking for.But suppose you have a website already in mind. you can go to google chrome ! type the website and you are on your way ! But on chrome google will not display your google cards feed ! So the AI part of google is little away from you via chrome.But there is a catch. Google has been blurring the line between the two since a few updates to the android ecosystem. google app now supports something callled AMP (accelerated mobile pages). Suppose you are in the google app and you have a list of suggestion to articles in your google cards feed, one of them is a news website. Clicking on this link will open it in one of those AMPs which specialize in compressing data and opening it faster and without having to open your browser so there are no loading times or switching times or lags etc ! The google cards feed is a product of a machine learning everything you read or search on the web and then trying to predict articles you may be interested in. This feed also gets its info from your Google+ activity, contacts, gmail etc so it can show a birthday reminder, or a flight notification, or a package dispatch notification or also appointment notification ! It is pretty useful as an assistant ! you can even search local businesses on this app! So you are hungry and want to know how to call , say , Pizza Shop A. You just google the shop and it shows all the details including buttons for calling the place or emailing or navigating etc !So to sum up, Google app is light weight link to the AI from google coupled with a light weight browser to open AMPs. Use this if you dont know where to look for, but you know what to look for ! And chrome is a full fledged browser that can open full webpages in all it glory, including google itself ! Use this if you know exactly where to look for , saves time !
