What is the procedure to get transcript from Bangalore University?
The process is very simpleVisit - Application formsDownload the application form from the third option ( too lenghty but covers all needs)Fill the formIf you studied at a college that is affiliated to Bangalore university, you will have to get photocopies of all your marks cards along with the degree certificate (1set each for 1 copy/set of transcript, need 2 to for 2 and so on.) Filled application form should bear a seal & sign of your college principal. If you studied at BU directly then you don't need to get seal and sign.Once that is done only then visit Bangalore university to submit the application else you will be running around between college and University. Take your WES academic request form also.DDs are no longer accepted, so pay the fees online on BU website. Visit Bangalore University for ‘other than autonomous colleges'. For Autonomous colleges affiliated to BU, visit Bangalore University- Online Fee Collection. The fees will get calculated by the payment site itself. After you pay it online download and print the challan.**Remember that if your marksheets are issued from a autonomous institute, then it will not be attested by BU. they will only attest the degree certificate. Eitherways, the fees remains the same.So let’s say you have all of this in order and figured it out, how and where do you submit the application ?Reach Bangalore university campus - PARIKSHA BHAVAN there are 2 ways of submitting:1: Slower, traditional, tested way. On the ground floor to your right is the Enquiry office (they are the most laziest and rude Bunch of people you will be dealing with so please don’t lose your temper. They only start working after 10:30 am and when I say work all they will do is take your application and give you an acknowledgment slip that you need to keep safe until you get your transcripts.) Show your application form along with supporting documents, to which they'll give an acknowledgement and ask you to come back after 2 weeks.Do not try to bribe anyone here or believe anyone who says they will get your transcripts in a few days it doesn’t work and you will lose your money and you still have to wait.2: Sakala way, faster, not tried this (…since I had already submitted my documents in Ground floor) Go to the first floor of the building, enter inside the metal grill and go inside the first room on the right. Do not go straight into the first room that you see.Once you enter, submit your documents to them. They will make an entry in their computer and then issue a 'Sakala Acknowledgement Form’ which is the challan slip . (please do not lose challan, take a photo, snapshot whatever and keep it safe until you receive your signed and sealed transcripts)The Sakala form will help you track the status of the application online instead of you personally going to the university multiple times.Once you get a message on your phone that your application is processed ( it will normally take a week from the date of submission of your application), GO TO parisksha Bhavan again.Collect your application from room 13, check if all the documents are in place along with envelope. After you're done, run to the administrative post office, that is basically the main office building. You'll find India Post. Collect three copies of declaration forms from them. After you do this, run back to Pariksha Bhavan room 13. They will deal the declaration forms, and also put a red stamp on the envelope. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.After this, run back to the India Post Main building, and hand over the declarations and envelope. You will have to seal the envelope and write the destination address yourself. And TADA! YOU'RE DONE. pay the fees for speed post. And track your courier online. It will easily take close to 3 weeks to reach the desired location. Here’s what not cool or good about the entire process:Most universities would actually put an effort to give you a digital version of the transcripts in a sealed envelope in a timely fashion - “WHAT MOST PEOPLE DONT REALISE IS FOR BANGALOE UNIVERSITY YOUR MARKS CARD IS THE TRANSCRIPT”The set of photo copies you conveniently made and submitted will be checked by someone in BU and they will put a sign and seal, give those exact same xerox/photocopies back to you when you go to collect along with an envelope that has a seal midway. What you are required to at this point is, check all the Marks cards are there, they will be because you gave them, see if there is a seal and sign on each of the copy, then slide them into the envelope and then seal the mouth across with a tape by yourself. If you ask them, Hey this is not what I expected, they will say this how we give transcripts and have been for a long time now deal with it !!What I am mostly frustrated about is ,A. We filled the forms, Got them signed, Got a DD, submitted it. all BU is Doing is Put a seal and sign and they are taking 15 days for this and charging money.take 50 bucks for the seal, but 500 for a copy of transcripts and they are not even giving you a version of their own is ludacris!!Ps: Bangalore university said they will start accepting the transcript fees online but there no are signs of that yet. - this is now live and DD’s are no longer acceptable. There are allot of transcript provider services charging from 5k to 13k for a copy of transcript all because the students don’t want to get their hands dirty or just simply spend an hour of their time. So please think twice before buying their service.( I am in no way against their service and cannot judge them)!Hope this gives a complete picture of the process to get the transcripts, I recently (April 2018) had to get two copies and that’s how I familiarized my self with the process.Edit: 1 Thanks to Vittal Shettigar PMP who recently applied for a set of transcripts and informed me the price has been increased hence I have amended the answer.Edit: 2 for people who are getting these transcripts to send to WES / any education evaluation organization. the process to apply (obtain) your transcripts remains same. You only have to ask Bangalore university to send the transcript directly to WES.Edit: 3 - Thank you everyone for the upvotes, did not expect this answer to get so popular. I would like to clear a few things thoughI do not work for the BU and I was a student just like all of youwhen I applied WES allowed us to send the transcripts directly to them, however now you need to ask BU to send it, if anyone has found out what the process is for that; please let me know and I will update my answer. Please do not repeatedly ask the same question in the comments, read this answer two or 3 times it has all the steps. If you found this info helpful I will know that I made a difference :) please feel free to share, upvote or ask any doubts in the comments section.-Lalith

When did the Mongols stop being a threat to the Ming Dynasty of China?
Thanks for A2A.The short answer is 1570 AD!To elaborate this answer, I have to add some context for those who are not familiar with the background.First of all, the Mongols at the time didn’t have a strong “national” identity. As soon as the Ming Dynasty had overthrown the Yuan (the Mongol Dynasty), certain Mongolian tribes surrendered to Ming. In fact, during the early days of Ming, the most effective cavalry unit was a Mongolian one.Secondly, China during Ming’s reign had this isolationist tendency and as a whole a bias toward closing the market off for outsiders. Because China was one of the largest market at the time, neighboring states were eager to trade with China. As was the norm, neighboring states traded with Ming via Ming’s “tribute” system. Yes, underneath everything, the “tribute” system was about access to the Chinese market and trade. Those neighboring states tribute payments to Ming are essentially trade caravans. Depend upon the Ming Court’s whim, neighbor states were allowed anywhere from paying 4 tributes per year (i.e. one trade caravan per quarter) to as little as paying tribute (i.e. one trade caravan) once every two years.(and yes, size of caravan is tightly controlled, e.g. 50 people or less, no more than 150 horses, as example)Here is the strange part. As a whole, the Ming’s court wanted to make sure those who paid tribute to Ming gained financially. Thus, Ming’s court usually went out of its way to make sure there was a trade deficit toward those who were willing to call Ming the center of the universe. During the time which the Ming was poor, the Ming was forced to cut the number of tributes allowed from the foreign states simply because Ming couldn’t afford it!Under such a rigid system which completely disregarded supply and demand, smuggling was rampant. Most importantly, while China was proud being “self sufficient,” nomadic tribes’ demand for consumer goods (clothes, pots and pans, porcelain vessels, medicines, etc) which hopelessly depended on China’s supply was not being met. Cross border raids under such circumstances looked pretty good as an alternative option. This was essentially the fundamental economic problem between Ming China and nomadic tribes such as Mongols and later Manchus. With this background information out of the way, I’ll modify your question a bit: When and Why Mongols stop being a threat to the Ming Dynasty of China? When: 1570 AD!To answer this question “why,” you need to thank this guy:His name was Gao Gong. He was a Senior Grand Secretary (首輔) of Ming’s court. You can think of this “Senior Grand Secretary” equivalent to “Prime Minister”, except that in Ming’s time, “Grand Secretary” or “Prime Minister” is an office typically made of 5–7 people (內閣大學士), and Senior Grand Secretary is the top dog calling the shots. How powerful was this “Grand Secretary?” Let’s put this way, without Grand Secretary’s consent, Emperor’s edicts won’t be able to get out of the palace. Without the consent of Grand Secretary and Minister of Finance, the Emperor won’t able to spend a single penny from the national treasury (even though Emperor has a smaller treasury on his own which he can spend whatever he pleases).Gao Gong was an abled, uncorrupted Senior Grand Secretary with really bad temper and didn’t get along with just about everyone. But he was somewhat an unfairly obscure figure (relative to what he has accomplished) for two reasons: 1. he was in office for a very short time (just because the reign of the Emperor he served, Emperor Mu, was short… due to his vast interest in sex) AND that Gao Gong’s successor, Zhang JuZheng, was a giant in Ming’s history which overshadowed everyone around that time. While Gao Gong was the Senior Grand Secretary, a strange family feud happened: Altan Khan’s grandson led his tribe surrendered to Ming at DaTong (see map below) because…. the girl who intended to marry Altan Khan’s grandson was pretty, very pretty… so pretty that Altan Khan decided to take her as his own concubine instead. Altan Khan’s grandson was so pissed that he decided to surrender to Ming because of it.Altan Khan was alarmed. Ming and Mongols had been killing each other at genocidal scale for almost 200 years. Altan Khan obviously cared about his grandson enough, sent an army to DaTong and asking Ming to return his grandson. At the time, one of Ming’s biggest concern was that Altan Khan, while being a ferocious fighting tribe, wasn’t all that civilized (twenty years earlier,Altan Khan was raiding the suburbs of Beijing unopposed… but it wasn’t a fatal threat for Chinese because Altan Khan doesn’t know how to lay a siege to a fortified city, as an example). But there was a Chinese traitor, Zhao Quan, who was teaching some of Chinese practices to bring organization and discipline to Altan Khan’s tribe. Ming was afraid that if these practices gain foothold in Altan Khan’s tribe, Altan Khan will no longer be just another nomadic tribe that raids borders once in a while, but a full blown nomadic nation similar to what Song was facing. The general who is responsible for DaTong, Wang ChongGu, saw Altan Khan’s grandson as an “prisoner exchange” opportunity, thus immediately send his recommendation to Ming’s court, proposing to exchange Altan Khan’s grandson for Zhao Quan thus stop the Mongol’s organization/political reform completely. When the recommendation reached Gao Gong, he had another idea. He saw through the reason why Altan Khan raided Ming’s border constantly was mostly because Mongols were desperately need consumer products (instead of trying to restore Mongol Dynasty in Chinese heartland). Cast aside almost 200 years of ethnic hatre, he and a few other General Secretaries (mostly just Zhang JuZheng) proposed something even bolder: establish several regulated MARKETS so Altan Khan and Han Chinese can trade with each other, all year round. No more this rigid once-every-blue-moon caravan, but trade every day if they wanted to.Gao Gong faced huge resistance within Ming’s court for such proposal (ethnic hatre against Mongols ran deep among Chinese population). It took some political 3D chess on Gao Gong’s part, allied with Zhang JuZheng and Wang ChongGu(the general responsible for DaTong) to get this through on the Chinese side. In this regard, Gao Gong was lucky that the Emperor LongQing was open minded enough for this (and other) open market ideas.Ming’s court final proposal included establish this “free”(in relative term) markets (total of 11 markets along the Altan Khan border), along with exchanging Altan Khan’s grandson for the Chinese traitor Zhao Quan (along with other silly conditions, such as the usual admitting Ming’s superiority).Altan Khan took the deal!FYI, this “free” market didn’t end up replace tribute payment completely. As part of this treaty, Chinese specified frequency and size of tribute caravan as well: once a year, maximum 500 horses and 150 people Since Altan Khan no longer completely rely on this caravan, he chose not to object. From 1570 until Ming’s demise in 1644, Altan Khan’s tribe, which located immediately next to Chinese heartland, never became a military threat. Sure, there were trade disputes and much of China’s border guards along Altan Khan’s region were so relaxed that they lost all fighting effectiveness, but this was a happy problem relative to, let’s say, constant military tension. While Altan Khan didn’t represent ALL Mongols, and other Mongol tribes still posed a threat to Ming after that, due to sheer geography, other Mongol threats were much less serious than Altan Khan would have posed. This is an example of how Chinese managed to do things right, they fundamentally altered the unfortunate pattern of history thus avoided history repeating itself. Both Chinese and (Altan Khan) Mongols got what they wanted without killing each other, while putting up with each other’s annoyances…Not bad, considering that the whole thing was triggered by some old Mongolian fart eyeing his own grandson’s fiance!Gao Gong for this alone deserves the Chinese people’s respect.Unfortunately for the Chinese, this lesson was completely forgotten later in Ming’s court.Had Ming’s court took this lesson and established permanent markets to trade with Manchus, I have the strong feeling that Ming Dynasty would have survived.
