This question reminds me our visit to European countries in the year 2013 during our Mid Career Training Programme (MCTP).In course of our training, we visited Rotterdam Port in Netherlands, which is the biggest port in Europe and the Gateway to most European countries.(Picture above: Rotterdam Port)We were mesmerized by the sheer size of the port which ran to several kilometers. It handled 441.5 million tonnes of cargo in 2012.The largest Port of India is Kandla which handled 87 Million tons of cargo in 2013-14.So the Rotterdam port handled FIVE times more cargo than the biggest port of India.We thought that this must be the biggest port in the world.However, when the instructor made the presentation before us, he told us that Rotterdam port is the sixth biggest in the world.So we got curious to know the name of the country having bigger ports than them.He then said that seven of the 10 biggest ports in the world are in China. The remaining three are in Singapore, the Netherlands (Rotterdam) and South Korea.Just like China has the distinction of having the greatest ports of the world, India would soon get the distinction of having the world’s tallest statues.It is just a question of priority.The priority of Chinese Government/Establishment is development of business and industries, while that of their Indian counterpart is constructing Temples, Statues and similar other monuments.That is why China is China and India is India.ReferencesThe world's 10 biggest portsPorts in India - WikipediaRotterdam port tariffs will once again increase by less than the rate of inflation

A small country like Netherlands almost contributes as much to EU coffers as UK did. The Central Bureau for Dutch Statistics(CBS) must be wrong, because it shatters another Leave voter illusion, that UK contributions kept EU afloat for years. Of course CBS must be wrong, because their employees are statistics experts and only do this number crunching day in day out for a living, unlike Brexiteers who make up facts effortlessly from their armchairs in retirement.Brexiteers lack the intellectual rigour to double check what the CBS actually includes in their GNI figures: The huge amount of tariffs Netherlands collects for the EU through its huge port of Rotterdam may explain the BBC difference? The CBS gives other figures where this amount is excluded and then of course Germany and U.K. are bigger contributors.The CBS uses figures that are actually paid into EU coffers by the Dutch Ministry of Finance. They must be excused for not copying figures Nigel Farage regurgitates endlessly on Questiontime or Boris Johnson wrote in a crayon on the side of a red Bus.

There are always a few people who do not want to accept reality in any society. So, yes, there are people who consider Nexit.But looking at how connected the Dutch economy is and needs to be to feed the 17 million or so that live on a space hardly larger than Delaware and Maryland combined, people usually sober up. Especially if you tell them that the port of Rotterdam and Schiphol Airport would not do so well after Nexit. That hits them in what is said to be a Dutchman’s most sensitive body part: his wallet.
