Usually an overnight thing.Before Dad bought us a tent to use for the backyard, my pal and I would set sticks in the ground like a triangle and use Mom’s old sheets to put over the sticks to make a tent. Then we would put a flap in the middle to separate the two sides so we would each have our own room. He would bring in his Batman and Superman comics and I’d have my Sgt. Rock, GI Combat and Our Army at War comics, grab a pack of soda crackers and some kool aid and sit or lay in our compartment tent and read. We would then sleep over night. Great fun.Sometimes we would also sleep in the tree house Dad and I built in the back. That was a lot of fun. There was a sign on the outside that said, NO GIRLS ALLOWED!“You think that stupid sign is going to stop us RJ?” My older sisters would say to me with their hands on their hips.When Dad bought us a back yard tent, my friends and I would take turns with my sisters and their friends sleeping in the tent overnight. Of course we would sneak out and scare my sisters and friends when it was their turn in the tent. Those girls had very loud screams.However, no one came and told us that it was illegal.My grandchildren camp overnight in our backyard for sleepovers and fun to this day. No one has ever complained to me and told me to take the tent down. If they did, they’d have one hell of a battle on their hands. I was on a plane from New York to London. It was a long flight and at one point during quiet time, it wasn’t enough that the girl (mid 20s) next to me snored like a chainsaw but she also ripped the longest fart I’ve ever heard in my life…I held my laugh… and held… but at one point I started laughing quietly… holding my mouth with two hands… my whole body was shaking and because she was right there next to me… the shaking woke her up…“What the hell, man… what’s wrong with you? You can’t. Cheap cymbals will always sound cheap and tinny. Better to spend the extra money on a good cymbal and get good sound than scrimp and get a cheap cymbal that sounds terrible.Check out Kijiji or Craigslist. Also your local music store probably has some good sales on. I just bought a new $240 Zildjian 16.5 inch crash for $134.00. Great buy for a great sounding cymbal.A few tricks you can try for your cheap cymbal is put a small chain on it to give it a sizzle sound. If it’s too tinny, try a small piece of duct tape underneath near the bell. A small piece might give it a more solid sound. Not much else you can do.I got a good deal on this cymbal. Don’t go cheap. Shop around and buy a good cymbal. It will pay off in the long run.
