What was your daily schedule during your JEE preparation in your drop year?

Well , I got bored of doing my tutorial, and online classes don’t help either, so I thought that I should write an answer. It’s been a while. And this is the first one that popped up in my feed so here we go.When I had classes, I used to wake up at around 7:30, as I had classes from 8:00. Went to coaching, then classes went on till 2:00 PM, sometimes even longer. Well, there isn’t enough schedule to be followed there, it was just pay attention to the class and make proper notes too.So, after classes got over. I used to do one of two things, either I went home, while eating something with my friends :P, or I stayed at the coaching itself for self study. I was in the top most batch of just 6 people ! So we had a separate room for our self study. And mostly I was the only one there. So I used to study peaceful there, alone, till 7 to 8 in the night. Then, headed out for home. After reaching home, I ate dinner, and relaxed, watched some YouTube or something. The clock used to turn at almost 10 at this point. If I had some work, I used to finish that, or if not, then I just revised something, read some inorganic chemistry, and made short notes. Slept at around 12 as I got tired from the rigorous self study session in my coaching already. Although, have to mention sometimes I talked to the one or two really close friends I had (apart from my coaching friends, who btw, are still in touch, and they’re all amazing) during night, and once in a while that went on till 2–3 AM xD.If I didn’t stay at coaching though, I reached home at 3. Ate lunch, then relaxed a bit. Then , I used to sit down to study at around 4. Studied till 6 , then my mom used to scold me for sitting on that damn chair all the time, so used to go out for a walk. After that, studied for an hour or so, then ate dinner. After dinner, watched some YouTube or sometimes TV, and then at around 10 , started studying . I am a night owl to be honest, and I still love studying or doing anything in night. My study sessions went till I was either very tired, or one of my family members came and literally forced me to sleep. So you could say around 3–4 AM. (I really didn’t care about my sleep, and tbh I work just fine even with less sleep). On the days I didn’t have class , which were usually weekends, the time table was not much different, except studying somewhat in that 8 AM to 2 AM time. Now, few things I absolutely have to mention. I’m nowhere near a typical “nerd”, one that runs away from things that people consider “waste of time”. I spent enough time with my friends, we used to eat a lot, and a lot of bakchodi too :P.Also, I was in touch with a few old friends, who are still very close to me, and one of them is an IITian, so she used to motivate me through tout the year ( Still thank her for that ).Second, the time-table I wrote is a very ideal situation, things used to become hectic and irregular at times. The time slots used to change. But , one thing that I’m proud of is , there wasn’t a single day when I didn’t study, be it for a few hours.I personally think, you don’t need to be a “genius” to crack JEE. You just need a proper mindset, a good mentor, and consistency , and in the last should be ready to work hard. I love playing video games, but did not play a single one during my drop year, so there are some things you might have to temporarily leave, but believe me, the happiness on your parent’s face after seeing your result makes it totally worth it!Anyways, I should be completing that tutorial now, the deadline is today :/. So have a good day , cheers !

How was your JEE Mains 2021 result? Did the result match your expectations?

As I am a Dropper, lets start from the very beginning.JEE Main 2020 (JANUARY) : 91.4 percentile (97 marks)JEE Main 2020 (SEPTEMBER) : 94.8 percentile (154 marks)JEE Main 2020 rank: 55k (cursing NTA, which is a ritual)JEE Advanced 2020 rank: Would reveal after Advanced 2021 results :pJEE Main 2021 (Feb session)- 99.29 percentile (210 marks)Let me tell you, I’m a really average student, got 94 % in boards. I’m a slow learner as well who treats studies as burden, and enjoyed extra-curriculars.Sunday, 8th November 2020, 6:30 pmDecorating my balcony with lights, Diwali followed next week. A lot of things going on in my mind. JoSAA round 6 was over, Did not get even a single college till now. Dropping for JEE 2021 was final, well Bits was an option but I had made up my mind. That “Why am I dropping an year?” and “What I would change in an year” was always popping up my mind. All this while I was searching for a satisfactory answer. An hour later, while decorating, I came to a very cool conclusion. Getting into the Best colleges in my country did not excite me much. I decided to drop because I went on a mission two years ago, in which I failed. Now I wanted to move ahead in life with positive note that I started a mission and completed it successfully. I did not want any regrets later on.Monday, 9th November, 8:00 amMade a list of my dreams, my visions. Did a complete analysis of what effect my decision to drop will have on them. Also made a list, what problems I could face during drop year, its impact on me, its benefits and so on. I think I figured out 23 problems. Now thought of their solutions. Everything favored the drop decision.Same day, 12:00 pmTold my dad not to participate in CSAB, withdraw from Bits, Not to participate in spot rounds of any colleges (DTU/Thapar etc.) He obviously got furious and curious at the same time. Mom was scared as well. Everyone told her drop means “Saal barbaad” and was constantly trying to convince me college doesn’t matter kinda stuff. But actually, as I said college did not matter to me either! I just wanted to end my journey with a positive note, without any regrets. But Indian parents! Still my dad somewhat agreed. Although hot discussion would be there until all the colleges closed admissions.Tuesday, 10th November, 8:00 amStarted to study. Covered weak chapters as per schedule which I had made earlier. Started to work on accuracy (got 14 negative in Jee main september). This time I did not study to get a rank. I enjoyed studying. I wanted to work my my mistakes. Solving questions became interesting. No pressure of rank, marks. It’s just me, my books and I’m into it. I watched every movie, web series as well.Le people: You did not have any target? No people. Its just that I did not have marks or ranks as my target. But my targets are:To achieve 100% accuracy. To become disciplined and strictly follow my routine. To explore my potential, whether by solving a tough problem or an easy problem mentally. To get better everyday. I’m determined to get better than yesterday. To remember END means Effort Never Dies, keep on going. To not let the anxiety, stress and pressure dominate myself. To be honest with myself.I always tried to hit these targets. Slowly my marks increased and I crossed 220 barrier in my mock tests. Sometimes I get a feeling of losing but I always remember one line: “Koi tumhe tab tak nahi hara sakta, Jab tak tum khudse naa haar jao” I’m again back to work after this! Finally, 8th march 2021Got my result. Neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. Because I told you about my targets, you might have got the feeling by now :pI Was happy because I did only 3 questions wrong (last year 14).Yes, I celebrated as well. Got a pack of chips and a coke because no matter what the result is, we must accept it with joy and move ahead with a next target!Thankyou for your patience. All the best to everyone!Edit:People were asking about my shift and individual marks so here it is.Date & Shift: 25th Feb, Second ShiftMarks: Phy- 72, Chem- 75, Maths- 63Thank you everyone.
