Which countries have no army, navy or air force? How do they take care of the nation's security?

Just a couple of more additions.Bhutan:- Bhutan currently has an army called the “Royal Bhutanese army”, but they don't have an Air Force and a Navy. The Officers of Bhutanese army are trained at Indian institutions like National defence Academy and Indian Military Academy. The soldiers of Bhutanese army are trained by Indian Military Training Team(IMTRAT) permanently stationed at Ha Dzong, West Bhutan. Whatever strategic constructions take place in Bhutan, they are initiated, and maintained by Indian Army’s Corp of Engineers, Military Engineering Services and the Border Roads organization. In majority of the conflicts between Bhutan and other nations, Indian army stays in the front, Doklam crisis being a good example. They don't need a Navy, being a landlocked country. And there size is just too small, and terrain too mysterious for an air force to operate. For aerial dominance, Indian air force’s eastern command is responsible. For supply and support Ops, Army Aviation Corp of India and the helicopter fleet of IAF is a frontrunner. The delegation leader of the Bhutanese Army being presented a memento by the Commandant of the Officers Training Academy Gaya. The Headquarters of Indian Military Training Team at Ha Dzong, West Bhutan. An Indian air force attachment comprising of 2–3 Mi-17/Mi-8 at Paro, Bhutan.2. Mauritius :- This tiny country in the Indian Ocean has no military. For maintaining its territorial sovereignty, it relies upon the National Police. The National Police of Mauritius is divided into rifle units, engineering units and the Coast Guard. The Commissioner of police is responsible for all the strategy making. Mauritius has no training establishment for its officers. The Officers of the National Police are trained at the NDA Pune, IMA Dehradun and OTA Gaya. A delegation from Mauritius keeps visiting for advanced training with various Infantry, Engineering units of the Indian Army. The Coast Guard has a limited fleet with most of the vessel from Indian Navy fleet class, and the Air Force is nil. The Air defence has not more than 10 odd aircrafts, a couple of them given by IAF. India is a frontrunner in protecting Mauritius in all sorts of crisis, the recent oil spill incident being a good example when the Indian air force, the Indian Navy and the Hindustan Aeronautical Limited sent their aircrafts for support Ops.National police Corp of MauritiusCoast Guard Vessel of Mauritius built in IndiaIndian Air Force team in Mauritius for oil spill support opsIndian Navy team in Mauritius for oil spill support Ops.3. Costa Rica:- This time you country had an army till the late 1940s. But just after the Civil War, the then President José Ferrier abolished the military. The abolishment of the standing military was just an experiment, which brought a great deal of progress to this little poverty torn country. Since there was no military, the Defence Budget was kept low, which meant that the surplus money could be spent on Healthcare, education and tourism sectors. Within a few decades, Costa Rica became much more developed than all its neighbors. These all facts can be supported by the following figures-A. Ranks 1st in happiness index in Latin America.B. Ranks 12th in global happiness indexC. Best Healthcare system in Central AmericaD. 36th best Healthcare system in the worldE. 98% literacy rateF. High standard of living at low cost.Costa Rica is known to use diplomacy very proactively to deal with all its external conflicts. When it comes to maintaining peace and stability in its territory, they have the Public Force. The Public Force is responsible for dealing with all the vices like terrorism, conventional crimes, illegal narcotics, money laundering, corruption, and the Border Security. The Coast Guard, and the Air Vigilance Services are its sister branches. Coasta Rica Coast Guard possesses a negligible, yet sufficient fleet of vessels including one or two odd patrol ships, and a few little patrol vessels. The Air vigilance services too have a small, but sufficient fleet of 10 aircrafts including 7 helicopters (MD500 Light Utility, MD600 Patrol, Bell UH Utility) and just a couple of Harbin Y12 transport planes.Costa Rica is an ideal for all the Latin American countries, and its experiment of No military is surely a case of study.Tourism is a big asset for Costa Rica.Costa Rica Air Vigilance ServicesThe National Peoples force of Costa Rica. Thanks to @CaptShailendra Bhatnagar for his valuable inputs.

What is something that almost nobody knows about The United States Air Force?

The USAF “employs” children as young as 12 to support (some of) thier operations. Now that I have your attention, let me make one thing perfectly clear: these kids are niether paid (though they'd gladly take it) nor sent into combat zones.Back in 1940, the U.S. had a problem. Though we were technically not involved in WWII, we were supporting the UK in thier war against the Third Reich via lend lease. The supplies we sent them, coupled with thier island geography was turning the British Isles into a fortress; a fortress that one Adolf Hitler would have to invade. To weaken British resolve, Hitler instructed Admiral Karl Donitz to blockade the UK using U-boats. Donitz simply told his captains to sink any freighter bound for Britain, including American flagged ships, as soon as they were found (almost, U-boats were allowed to coordinate attacks.)A few unlucky ships, crewed by members of the U.S. Merchant Marine, were torpedoed and sunk (within the range of land based aircraft) with widespread loss of life.Normally, this would be presumed an act of war, but U.S. isolationism kept us out of “another European war.” (Hitler declared war on us the day after Pearl Harbor.) Land based ASW (anti-submarine warfare) patrols were stepped up, but there simply were not enough aircraft to protect all mervhant seamen in American and adjacent waters. To remedy this situation, civilian volunteer pilots, flying privately owner aircraft jerry rigged to carry weapons, formed an organization devoted to protecting U.S. transports. On December 1st, 1941, just six days before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the Civil Air Patrol was founded. In 1943, the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) became a military organization and was placed under the command of the Army Air Forces. By war's end, CAP had sunk two U-boats, forced 57 more to abort thier attacks, reported 173 to the USN and USCG, responded to 91 distress calls, and rescued 363 survivors. But deterence had an even larger effect. CAP flew 86,865 sorties, logging over 240,000 hours of operation in WWII. This was in addition to gunary training (target towing,) courier services, and pilot training. When the USAF seperated from the Army in 1947, CAP went with it. Truman latter signed Public Law 800-557, designating CAP as the official civilian auxillary of the USAF and would no longer be used for combat operations.Today, CAP is part of the USAF's Total Force concept; on par with active duty, the USAF reserve, and the Air National Guard. CAP still flies USAF assigned missions. For years, a select few CAP aircraft (all Cessnas) have been modified to carry the sensor array found on the MQ-1 Predator as a cheap to operate surrogate trainer. We routinely fly Fertile Keynote missions, one of which was covered a few years back by the Today Show:We fly over 80% of inland search and rescue missions (air and ground.) We assist the USAF with system tests. We transport donor organs, blood, anti-venom, and nuclear medicine (which has an abysmal shelf life) from its point of production/collection to hospitals. We've gone as far as flying endangered species to zoos/aquariums (these are funded entirely by the zoo/aquarium in question.)We conduct disaster relief missions in the air and on the ground. We flew the first civilian aircraft to take off following 9/11 to image Ground Zero. We've conducted reconnisance for both the DEA and DHS, taking well over $1B worth of drugs off the street. We've had members go overseas and assist during the Fukashima recovery (the earthquake/tsunami, not the nuclear disaster.) We have a team of radar technicians who analyzed radar data for MH370.We have a cadet program that teaches leadership and aerospace education. Cadets can also be involved in the other operations. Cadets can even compete for flight training and academic scholarships. We have hundreds of former cadets who are now flying USAF fighters. Thousands more officers in he USAF and other branches. And did I mention we do this for free? There are exactly 182 paid employees in CAP. 182 to 61,000 volunteers. Our aircraft cost about $100 an hour to fly. An A-10 costs almost $6,000 an hour and has a paid pilot and support crew.A look into how much it costs to fly America's military planes per hourNote: This is not an ad for the Civil Air Patrol. If you want more info, please go to United States Air Force Auxiliary.

Do you regret not joining the military?

Absolutely I do. Or rather, I did.As a youth I was deeply involved in the Civil Air Patrol, the civilian United States Air Force Auxiliary, so I pretty much blead Air Force blue. It was my intention to enlist in the Air Force out of high school, but I started working in emergency medical services, and my career really took off. In 1976 I became one of the first paramedics in the nation during a time where modern EMS was in infancy.Flash forward 29 years. I had been a paramedic for 16 years before I became a licensed peace officer. My cop life took off, too, and I eventually became a lieutenant at our county sheriff’s office. Then our sheriff retired, and the guy who won the election decided to fire the existing command staff. So after almost 20 years as a county deputy I found myself unemployed. The US Department of Justice was looking for experienced peace officers for a training assignment, so I applied. Turned out that over 5,000 American peace officers applied; I was one of 288 selected. (I’m still trying to figure out how that happened!)So in August of 2005 I found myself standing in front of the US Embassy in downtown Baghdad, wondering what the hell I had gotten myself into.It was a very rewarding year, training the Iraqi Civil police. I’m glad to have been able to make a difference in that war-torn country. But I’m more glad that I finally had the opportunity to serve my country. I had served my community since 1974, but I had never served the country that had given me so many opportunities to succeed. My year working for the DoJ really went a long way to assuage my regret for never committing myself to military service.
