I can add lots of other books name too, but it's impractical as cost is more and benefit is lessNow How to start?First you need to read only not to solve previous 5 year paper's at least 3–5 times. This is inevitable step, and it will give you idea what exactly need to read from the sources mentioned above.Now when you start, never underline before 3 readings of the same book. Yes otherwise, you will end up with underlining the 3/4 part of book. But after 3 readings you very well know the 3/4 part and you will underline only the rest part.Consistency is the most important part. Start with like 3–5 hours for, let's say 10 days, then 4–6 hours for another 15 days, than trust me, you don't need any thrust, and it will be hard for someone to take you on movie or doing chitchat. Without that you are like non updated software of your computer, who can run program but at the cost of loss of efficiency and productivity.Limit yourself to like 200 words on note making from newspapers, as you will definitely gonna read CA magazines, and trust me your notes will never gonna match their content. You can start your preparation for UPSC, the moment you have understood the syllabus and what it aims to achieve through its three tier exam structure. My suggestion would be, SELF STUDY + COACHING INSTITUTE THAT CAN GUIDE YOU WELL. The Preliminary exam is scheduled​ to take place in June 2018 and hence there is roughly a year to appear in Prelims.UNDERSTAND THE SYLLABUS AND CLARITY ON TOPICS: CSE syllabus is very subjective, leaves aspirants thinking where to draw the line. Syllabus is an ocean. The key here is two-fold. For prelims, exercise common sense. Have the courage to attempt questions based on your intuition (which develops through reading standard textbooks). For Mains, the strategy is to apply whatever you know. The point that I try to make is, one can read endlessly to attain knowledge. But this differs from our objective of scoring in the exam. We do not have to earn a thesis but get a double digit rank or even single digit. The conclusion is, study to score not to earn a PhD. Be selective in what you read but make sure it is adequate.COACHING GUIDANCE: Strong coaching guidance, gives you direction. You might know or want to know everything, but a coaching institute will streamline it for you in accordance with right trends and requirements.My personal experience suggests, that you can do this if you have mapped out your courses, optional choice and preparation agenda lucidly.
