PDF Editor FAQ

How will the Australian suburban papers closing affect politics and corruption?

Australian Suburban and local Newspaers were originally locally owned small scale operations often having same person as reporter, editor, sub editor, typograph operator, printer, advertising salesman and general dogsbody. These operations were taken over by two chains, Fairfax and News Ltd. they operated centralised printing and advertising structures but had the semblance of editorial decentralised structure. Reporters at this time had contact with local MP’s and councillors. Increasingly over time the papers became printers of press releases and printing was determined by Advertising revenue. In Queensland at least Fairfax amdold all its titles to News Ltd. Mews Ltd as soon as it had near monopoly control of Queensland City, Provincial City and community free papers shut most of them or converted them to on line only. Two years ago Qld had a dozen daily papers now it has 5. It had probably 3 dozen weeklies some free and others paid for. Great bulk of these have now gone. There is signs of a revival of locally owned publications. Mainly very small towns and very small circulations.I am not sure about The effect on corruption but the effect on local government participation has been significant. Local government counsellors had a significant advantage in being seen weekly in newspapers and they made good use of this. And there is little doubt that those seeking council positions are now moving to Facebook and utilising this to communicate with potential voters. My feeling is that the News Limited strategy of trying to move everyone on to Internet for local news has been a failure. In 20 years in my current house I never missed either of the two weekly newspapers but in the last two years where it is on Internet only I have looked at Caboolture Herald only once. Are used to rely on these papers for finding local tradesmen etc but now I have reverted to the Yellow Pages.there are a few places where very strong community ties have resulted in local community Facebook pages and these have taken the place of the News Limited papers.in some larger areas coloured newsmagazines have sprung up and they may compete with them now defunct News Limited papers.some of these coloured magazines seem to come and go with great frequency and run for only a few additions before finding that the business model does not work. Rather than being standalone newspapers they are often attached to IT/commercial artist type operations. There is no doubt that local newspapers in Australia are in flux and We will just have to wait and see what happens in the long term.

Who profits off prisons?

Who Profits From Our Prison System? The US prison system, now home to over 2 million Americans, runs like an economy unto itself: From the cafeteria line to the phone line to the assembly line, a steady stream of money is fueling our incarceration complex. But who profits off prisoners remains a trade secret. That’s why advocates for criminal-justice reform are now harnessing big data to map out the carceral state, exposing the corporate networks that administer and finance the prison industry while driving its expansion. The Corrections Accountability Project of the Urban Justice Center (where, full disclosure, this author once interned) presents a kind of yellow pages of criminal justice, revealing the convoluted, self-serving mechanics of industrialized incarceration. The prison economy rests on an opaque, often unaccountable economic infrastructure, with its own private-equity financiers, holding companies, and multinational executives. Since the financial transactions driving incarceration are typically private and unregulated, according to CAP director Bianca Tylek, their analysis aims “to help people understand just how big this space is,” particularly because, often, “companies spend their money in a way to further entrench or expand the use of our criminal-legal system, and who it ends up touching.”With millions of lives touched by criminal-justice institutions every day—the families and communities of the incarcerated, a sprawling public force, scores of private government contractors—prisons are an increasingly lucrative investment opportunity.Today, major private corporations administer services ranging from medical-record keeping to surveillance to psychiatric counseling. GEO and CoreCivic provide full-scale management and security services at private state facilities as well as immigration-detention centers. They have lately branched into “Community Corrections,” which provides social programming following release, such as court-ordered treatment and halfway houses. Sequel Youth & Family Services provides extensive private juvenile-detention and counseling programs.Israeli-based Attenti, formerly known as 3M, now operates under private-equity firm Apax Partners, yielding tens of millions from electronic monitoring services. Vocational programs for training inmates in blue-collar trades provide a combination of rehabilitation and behavioral management. But beyond direct in-house services, the CAP report points to various complex financing entities that fuel a built-in incentive to consolidate, monopolize, and expand the incarceration system and the sentencing and legal processes that keep it humming.Like any industry-growth model, prisons have fundamental internal incentives to achieve economies of scale by expanding their operations and accruing more state funds. Yet CAP focuses its critique (as does the American Friends Service Committee) on the absence of democratic control and oversight over the commercial operations of mass incarceration, which is often detached from any reasonable public-justice priority and represents a wider pattern of corporate impunity across the criminal-justice system.Even if prisons are run technically in accordance with official regulations, rights groups are wary of intrinsic profit incentives that border on corporate criminality. For example, Tylek explains, prison-industry lobbyists have been known to actively promote the campaigns of anti-immigration hard-liners, as well as harsh anti-marijuana policies—which in turn fuel fresh “demand” for new prison beds and facilities.“What we even consider a crime,” Tylek says, “is highly shaped by corporate influence…. And the question there becomes, is that how we want crime to be defined, [who decides it] and then who’s targeted by that.” Harsh policing and sentencing standards for drug-related violations, nonviolent property crimes, and other offenses associated with the young and poor have driven mass incarceration since the 1980s. All the while, Wall Street’s white-collar criminals are hardly ever prosecuted—the same kinds of investors who plow money into the prison business, and the same powerful social elite who help drive political discourse that systematically vilifies poor communities, immigrants, and people of color.Tylek says that the combination of privatization and consolidation over the last three decades, reinforced by the industry’s well-funded political champions in Congress and state legislatures, are the product of a private-equity financial network that is “obscured from the public. So they’ve been able to buy up companies…growing their market share consistently larger.” Every time money is wired from an immigration jail through Western Union or blood is drawn by a health-care provider controlled by a private-equity group, it takes a bit off the top. “Their entire business model, is actually dependent on poverty.”RELATED ARTICLEWHAT IS PRISON ABOLITION?John WashingtonThe new generation of prison-data mapping elucidates both the commercialization of imprisonment and the social cost of punishment. It doesn’t aim to expose any particular smoking gun but rather, to expose how much is at stake in each prison cell, which ultimately represents an individual’s life. Naming, mapping, and measuring the system drives forward the public conversation about what society’s priorities should be as more communities seek to reform toward a more open, democratic, and humane society. To decarcerate society, we must recognize that we’re not just politically implicated in its abuses but economically invested as well.America Eats its Young: Arizona Communities Embrace Use of Private Prison Employees in Drug Raids at Public SchoolsAmerica Eats its Young: Arizona Communities Embrace Use of Private Prison Employees in Drug Raids at Public SchoolsLoaded on DEC. 15, 2012 by Beau Hodai published in Prison Legal News December, 2012, page 32Filed under: Corrections Corporation of America/CoreCivic, Police Searches, Sentencing, Education (Juveniles). Location: Arizona. In Arizona an unsettling trend appears to be underway: the use of private prison employees in law enforcement operations. The state has graced headlines in recent years as the result of its cozy relationship with for-profit prison companies – for the role of the private prison industry in assisting in the dissemination of constitutionally-questionable immigration enforcement laws based on Arizona’s controversial SB 1070, for a private prison escape that resulted in the death of an elderly couple and a nationwide manhunt, and for a failed attempt to privatize almost the entire state prison system. And now, recent events in the central Arizona town of Casa Grande show the hand of private prison corporations reaching into the classroom, assisting local law enforcement agencies in drug raids at public schools.Trick or TreatAt 9 a.m. on the morning of October 31, 2012, students at Vista Grande High School in Casa Grande were settling in to their daily routine when something unusual occurred.Vista Grande High School Principal Tim Hamilton ordered the school – with a student population of 1,776 – on “lock down,” kicking off the first “drug sweep” in the school’s four-year history. According to Hamilton, “lock down” is a state in which, “everybody is locked in the room they are in, and nobody leaves – nobody leaves the school, nobody comes into the school.“Everybody is locked in, and then they bring the dogs in, and they are teamed with an administrator and go in and out of classrooms. They go to a classroom and they have the kids come out and line up against a wall. The dog goes in and they close the door behind, and then the dog does its thing, and if it gets a hit, it sits on a bag and won’t move.”While such “drug sweeps” have become a routine matter in many of the nation’s schools, along with the use of metal detectors and zero-tolerance policies, one feature of this raid was unusual. According to Casa Grande Police Department (CGPD) Public Information Officer Thomas Anderson, four “law enforcement” agencies took part in the operation: CGPD (which served as the lead agency and operation coordinator), the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Gila River Indian Community Police Department, and Corrections Corporation of America (CCA).It is the involvement of CCA – a private, for-profit prison corporation – that causes this high school “drug sweep” to stand out; CCA is not, despite CGPD’s evident opinion to the contrary, a law enforcement agency.“To invite for-profit prison guards to conduct law enforcement actions in a high school is perhaps the most direct expression of the ‘schools-to-prison pipeline’ I’ve ever seen,” said Caroline Isaacs, program director of the Tucson office of the American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker social justice organization that advocates for criminal justice reform.Welcome to Prison Town, U.S.A.CCA, the nation’s largest for-profit prison/immigrant detention center operator, with more than 92,000 prison and immigrant detention “beds” in 20 states and the District of Columbia, reported $1.7 billion in gross revenue last year. This revenue is derived almost exclusively from taxpayer-funded government (county, state and federal) contracts for the warehousing of prisoners and immigrant detainees.CCA has a substantial presence in Casa Grande and throughout Arizona’s Pinal County (Casa Grande is the largest town in the county). The corporation owns and operates a total of six correctional/detention facilities in Pinal County, distributed through the towns of Florence and Eloy.In 2009, the Central Arizona Regional Economic Development Foundation listed CCA as the largest non-governmental employer in Pinal County. To boot, CCA is a “Board Level” member of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a powerful trade/lobby organization, and is active in the Eloy, Florence and Casa Grande chambers of commerce. And in September 2012, CCA was awarded a contract with the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) to house 1,000 medium-security prisoners at the corporation’s Red Rock Correctional Center in Eloy. This strong CCA presence, coupled with the location of two correctional facilities operated by GEO Group (the nation’s second-largest for-profit prison/immigrant detention center contractor) in the county, as well as two ADC-run prison complexes, makes Pinal County – which once cited mining and agriculture as its economic bedrock – a de facto prison industry community.Despite the obvious differences between CCA and actual law enforcement agencies, those involved in the Vista Grande High School drug sweep seem unable to differentiate between CCA employees and law enforcement officers.“CCA is like a skip and a hop away from us – as far as the one in Florence,” said Anderson. “We work pretty closely with all surrounding agencies, whatever kind of law enforcement they are – be they police, or immigration and naturalization, or the prison systems. So, yeah, this seems pretty regular to me.”Questions of LegalityBut they are not the same. Aside from the fact that CCA is a private corporation that derives its profits from the incarceration of human beings, the Arizona Administrative Code provides that, in order for any individual to engage in the duties of a “peace officer,” that individual must obtain certification from the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board. And the Arizona Administrative Code is very clear on this point: “[A] person who is not certified by the Board or whose certified status is inactive shall not function as a peace officer or be assigned the duties of a peace officer by an agency....”According to POST Executive Director Lyle Mann, POST provides two types of certification: standards and training certification for “peace officers,” and standards and training certification for correctional officers. The Arizona Administrative Code mandates that ADC officers be POST certified. However, according to Mann, employees of private prison contractors are exempt from these standards and training requirements. As such, said Mann, no CCA employee is POST certified – as either a “peace officer” or a correctional officer. It is important to note that the Arizona Administrative Code explicitly states that non-regular “peace officers” – secondary parties engaging in certain limited aspects of law enforcement under the command or supervision of regular peace officers – must also be POST certified.According to the Code, a “limited-authority peace officer” is defined as “a peace officer who is certified to perform the duties of a peace officer only in the presence and under the supervision of a full-authority peace officer.” The Code goes on to state that duties which may be performed by a “limited-authority peace officer” in the presence of a “full-authority peace officer” include: “investigative activities performed to detect, prevent, or suppress crime, or to enforce criminal or traffic laws of the state, county, or municipality.”This definition seems to fit the description of what occurred at Vista Grande High School on the morning of October 31, 2012 – with the exception that the CCA employees aiding CGPD “peace officers” are not POST certified.According to Anderson, CCA provided two canine units consisting of handlers and dogs to aid in the high school “drug sweep.”As to the general role canine units play in school drug raids, Anderson stated that the dogs and their handlers are typically utilized to detect the presence of illicit materials in classrooms and school parking lots. The use of the CCA canine teams would seem to fall squarely under the Arizona Administrative Code description of duties performed by “limited-authority peace officers” – officers who may perform “investigative activities” for the purpose of detecting, preventing, or suppressing criminal activity, and who are only authorized to do so while in the presence of “full-authority peace officers,” such as CGPD. Such “limited-authority peace officers” are required to be POST certified.According to Anderson, a similar “drug sweep” utilizing CCA canine units was conducted at Casa Grande’s Union High School in 2011. He was unable to provide further details related to that event.CCA did not respond to multiple requests for comment regarding their involvement in law enforcement operations at public schools in Pinal County.Conflict of Interest: From the Cradle to the CellAccording to Anderson, three students were arrested as a result of the October 31 Vista Grande raid: two female students, ages 15 and 17, as well as one 15-year-old male. He said the 15-year-old female was found in possession of .10 grams of marijuana; the 15-year-old male student was found in possession of .50 grams of marijuana; and the 17-year-old female was found in possession of 10 ounces of marijuana that was “individually packaged.”Under Arizona law, individuals arrested for illicit activity/possession of illicit substances on or near school grounds may face “drug-free school zone” sentencing enhancements. Those convicted of drug offenses (including marijuana), and sentenced under “drug-free school zone” sentencing enhancements, lose the possibility of sentence suspension, parole or probation. The sentencing enhancement also adds a year to any prison term handed down by the court. While the 1,000 Arizona prison beds recently contracted to CCA have yet to come online, it is exactly this kind of low-risk, minimum- to medium-security drug offender that corporations such as CCA derive much of their profit from.Furthermore, according to Anderson, the Vista Grande High School marijuana arrests have sparked a broader, ongoing investigation. Given the fact that such high school raids may serve as the foundation for larger narcotics investigations which may net adult offenders, concerned citizens say that CCA’s involvement in such raids constitutes a clear conflict of interest.“They’re [CCA] not the criminal justice system. They are benefactors of the criminal justice system,” said correctional specialist and prison reform advocate Carl Toersbijns.Toersbijns, now retired, served as a deputy warden of operations at ADC-operated Arizona State Prison (ASP) Eyeman, deputy warden of operations at ASP Safford, deputy warden of operations at the New Mexico Department of Corrections-operated Western New Mexico Correctional Facility (in Grants, New Mexico), and associate warden at the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility (in Los Lunas, New Mexico). Collectively, Toersbijns’ career in corrections has spanned over 25 years in both Arizona and New Mexico. Such work, he said, has entailed everything from details with prison canine units to prison gang units.“They [CCA] use the criminal justice system as a means of making income – for profit,” added Toersbijns. “So, their interest in the criminal justice system is totally opposite of the police officer. The police officer is public safety. The primary interest for CCA and associated entities is profit. So, there most definitely is a conflict of interest.”Introducing the “War on Drugs” to the ClassroomAs some opponents of prison privatization attest, CCA embodies the worst pitfalls of public-private partnerships, in that the corporation has worked in the past to advance criminal justice legislation that has contributed to both a swell in U.S. prison/detention center populations and, consequently, CCA’s bottom line. For example, CCA was active (both as a co-chair and member) in the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) Public Safety and Elections Task Force, formerly the ALEC Criminal Justice Task Force, through the 1990s to the end of 2010.ALEC is a public-private legislative partnership whose membership is overwhelmingly comprised of Republican state lawmakers, over 300 of the nation’s largest corporations and influential law/lobbying firms. ALEC’s primary objective is to adopt and disseminate “model legislation,” much of which is drafted entirely by its private sector members.ALEC’s Public Safety and Elections Task Force was instrumental, during the years of CCA’s membership and leadership, in proliferating such tough-on-crime legislation as “three strikes,” “truth in sentencing” and “mandatory minimum” sentencing laws.Largely as a result of such harsh sentencing laws advanced by ALEC, the U.S. experienced a boom in its prison and jail population – from just over 1.1 million people incarcerated in 1990 to nearly 2.3 million in 2010.During the years of CCA’s Criminal Justice/Public Safety and Elections Task Force involvement, ALEC also advanced “model legislation” for greater law enforcement presence in public schools. ALEC’s “Drug-Free Schools Act,” for example, called for “enhanced apprehension, prevention and education efforts” in joint cooperation between law enforcement agencies and school districts. In April 2012, following widespread criticism and loss of corporate sponsorship due to such pieces of “model legislation” disseminated by the Public Safety and Elections Task Force as the “Stand Your Ground Act,” “Voter ID Act” and “No More Sanctuary Cities for Illegal Immigrants Act,” ALEC announced that it would disband the task force. And in the wake of reporting on CCA’s involvement with ALEC and the spread of immigration laws based on Arizona’s SB 1070, CCA told the Arizona Republic in September 2011 that the corporation left ALEC in 2010.Unfortunately, as the October 31 Vista Grande High School drug raid illustrates, the purported discontinuation of the ALEC task force, and CCA’s exit from ALEC, came only after the damage of two decades of private prison industry influence has taken its toll.

What are all the options and business models in regards to starting an online business?

There is a lot which I’m going to share with you here. This is from my article called Ultimate Guide to Online Businesses: 40+ Ways to Make Money OnlineBelow, is just a clip of it which is what will answer your question. However, if you’d like more content and info, I recommended going through the full guide since there are additional insights and tips there.Alright, here we go…40+ Ways to Make Money Online/Online Business Ideas…1. FreelancerHave a talent or skill you can offer people as a service? Freelancing is a broad term and covers a huge range of services you can provide for people. It covers skills such as…Voice-Over: If you’ve got a voice for radio, this could be for you. People are always looking to hire voice-over freelancers for commercials, marketing videos, intro and outro clips, and even reading for audiobooks.Graphic Design: Have an eye for design and the ability to put it into a beautiful graphic? Well, people are willing to pay for that. Graphic design can range from logos to creating/editing images for websites, books, marketing materials, and more.Web Design/Development/Programming: Building unique and complex websites today can be daunting to most people. If you have a skill in helping people make their website stand out and can fulfill their unique design requirements, offering your services can pay off big-time here.Translation: In a global economy, we have the ability to reach people all over the world which means people from different countries who speak different languages. Helping people and businesses translate their work/products/services is beneficial to their growth and a potentially lucrative opportunity if you’re proficient in multiple languages.Transcribing: With the enormous amount of content being generated every single second and the billions of people consuming it, having different forms of content is key. Many people prefer to read over watching or listening and therefore, many businesses would love to have their content in multiples forms to maximize their audience reach and engagement. If you enjoying typing and can take raw videos/audio and convert them to text, here’s a great opportunity to work with a wide range of content for various types of businesses.Writing: Being a writer in today’s world doesn’t just mean writing blog articles. There are so many different mediums to write for and below are just a few. Many people and businesses need material to share their work and spread their message. Having the ability to put their “thoughts to paper” will have a tremendous impact on their business.eBooks | Blog Posts | Articles | Ezines | Brochures | Booklets | Pamphlets | Marketing Materials | Special Reports| Case Studies | Recipes | Press ReleasesIf you have desirable and marketable skills, this is a great way to earn income fast since you already have the skills and you don’t need to invest money. However, you will have to learn how to market your skills and and demonstrate your ability to get the results people are looking for if you want them to hire you.RESOURCES: Fiverr | UpWork | Freelancer | 99designs | Guru2. Virtual AssistantA virtual assistant typically helps people with certain aspects of their business. Now, this is a broader term and can mean a variety of tasks and jobs. One may consider a virtual assistant to be a freelancer but I would say a virtual assistant focuses more on administrative tasksoverall and therefore, deserves its own category. However, there’s definitely some overlap.Duties of a virtual assistant could range from managing social media groups, uploading video/audio content, editing content, posting on social media, filtering emails, bookkeeping, and even handling customer service. Those are just a few but you get the idea.Similar to a freelancer, a virtual assistant doesn’t require much investment up front if you already have the knowledge or skills people are already looking for. But learning how to market your skills and demonstrate you can do the work is important.RESOURCES: Upwork | LinkedIn | Virtual Assistants | Freelancer | Fiverr3. Rent Out Your AssetsHave an asset you don’t use or won’t mind lending to others for a period of time? Today, you have the opportunity to rent out space or equipment that has value to others. And what better way to leverage something you already own than renting it out to others to enjoy while making money from it? Things you could rent out are your home, car, boat, RV, tools, furniture, and much more.Make sure your assets are insured in case an accident occurs. Also, make sure you’re covered so that you’re not liable for damages or injury to the rentee(s) who use your property. Most third-party companies who broker and handle the transactions will often have some sort of protection for both you (renter) and the rentee. But remember, their mission isn’t to make sure you’re covered, it’s to rent your things. Therefore, do you due-diligence and make sure you’re protected.RESOURCES: Airbnb | Turo | Boatsetter4. Sell Your AssetsHave things you need to clear out of your residence or garage? Over time, we tend to lose the need for certain things. One way to make some quick money is to unload your items that someone else may have better use for. It’s better to have the money in your pocket and a clearer space while giving another person better use-value for your unused items. There are many places you can post your items online for sale. Just be sure that you’re clear on the payment terms and meet in a safe place for the transaction.RESOURCES: LetGo | OfferUp | Facebook Marketplace | Craigslist | eBay5. Virtual TutoringWhen it comes to learning, you never have to stay local and be limited to only seeing people who are within driving distance. In today’s world, you can tutor people from across the state, country, and even across the ocean.Whether you want to train or teach people how to improve their language skills, writing skills, mentor them, teach them musical instruments, it’s all possible. This model is low in startup cost and you can control your own schedule. However, depending on where your students are, you may have to consider any time difference between where you are and where they are.RESOURCES: Skype | Google Hangouts | Zoom | WhatsApp | Viber6. Audio/Video EditorAs mentioned earlier, content is being created at an enormous rate today. And many of the content creators would prefer to focus on producing content rather than editing it. Likely because they’re better at it and they enjoy it more.If you have skills in editing content and are proficient with editing software—whether it be for audio or video— this could be the gig for you. More and more today, I’m starting to see an incredible trend in the editing of videos, specifically on YouTube. The limits of creativity and trying new things do not exist and audiences are starving for quality editing—they just don’t know it yet.Build a portfolio, develop your style, and showcase it to people. Then, try to find someone or a few people you can work for consistently. That way, you’ll have a consistent workload and therefore, a consistent income. This is opposed to doing one-offs here and there and then having to constantly hunt for new jobs and gigs.RESOURCES: Fiverr | Upwork | Camtasia | Final Cut Pro | Adobe Premiere Pro | Audacity | Reaper7. CopywriterHave the ability to sell and move people to action with words? Working as a copywriter could be your calling. A copywriter differs from a traditional writer in that they have a more direct approach to writing and a different mission. Here’s what I mean…Copywriters typically have a certain framework (in terms of length and space) to write words that will ultimately get people to take a certain action(s). That could be making a phone call, scheduling an appointment, buying a product, click a link, and so on. Therefore, copywriters have to be more strategic and streamlined with their words because of the limited space they have to work with. When it comes to sales and marketing for virtually any business, having the ability to “sell” with your copy (writing) is highly desirable and a potentially lucrative skill.RESOURCES: The Copywriter’s Handbook | Gary Halbert Newsletter | Gary Bencivenga | Fiverr| Upwork | Freelancer8. Sell your own goods—artwork, crafts, tools, jewelryDo you enjoy making goods in the comfort of your own home or shop? Selling your unique and original work can be a great way of monetizing your craft and supplying potential buyers with a one-of-a-kind item.It doesn’t matter if you sell your own hand-knitted sweaters, crafted cutting boards, or one-of-a-kind jewelry, there’s likely someone who’d be interested.Make sure you can safely package your goods to prevent damage from transport. It’d be a shame to have anything get destroyed before the customer even gets their anxious hands on the goods!RESOURCES: Etsy | eBay | Craigslist | Shopify9. Affiliate MarketingAffiliate marketing is the process of selling products/services where the referrer of the sale earns a commission (a share of the revenue). Affiliate marketers are direct employees of the company and work almost like an independent contractor. In my opinion, this is one of the best models out there for many reasons including but not limited to…You don’t have to create the product/serviceYou don’t have to handle paymentsYou don’t have to fulfill shippingYou don’t have to do customer serviceYou don’t have to maintain the product/serviceAll of those things are taken care of by the parent company who created and manages the products/services. Your goal, as the affiliate marketer, is to refer sales and as your incentive, you get paid for each sale which you’re responsible for. This can be very lucrative for you as companies will pay out as much as 50% commissions(depending on the type of product). Some even pay more than that. And this is beneficial to the companies because they only pay for marketing/advertising when a sale is actually made rather than upfront with the hopes of driving sales afterward. Then, the customer gets access to the product/service to help them satisfy a need or solve a problem. That’s a win-win-win for the affiliate, parent company, and the customer. Here are the basics of how affiliate marketing works…You apply to become an affiliate of a company or a network (who works with many companies). Once approved, you’ll get a specific affiliate ID that is unique to you and you’ll receive links and advertising materials to help you market the products/services.You can then place these links on your website or other platforms such as in emails, possibly on social media, YouTube, etc. When someone clicks on a link, a cookie is stored in their browser (to help ensure you get the credit for the sale). Should the person decide to make a purchase (often within a certain time frame such as 30 days), you’ll earn a commission because the purchase is tracked through your unique affiliate link. This strategy is growing in the online business and marketing world and for good reason—that win-win-win scenario I talked about. And many other businesses (which I share below) are using it in monetization strategies so more on this later!RESOURCES: ClickBank | CJ | Shareasale | Rakuten | Amazon Associates10. Facebook GroupsHave a certain niche or topic you’re passionate about? Well, if you’re on Facebook, you’re likely in a few groups with others who share similar interests as you. Did you know you can actually monetize those sites?Depending on the owner and the type of group, people are monetizing their groups and are doing very well from it. You can insert affiliate links (as mentioned above) into your posts or you can lead people off of Facebook onto an email list where you can then market and advertise to them (this strategy is highly recommended and one I’ll discuss more later on).In your group, you want to provide value to people by sharing useful content, answering their questions, and in between, you can promote your own products/service or other peoples (as an affiliate) from time to time. Here’s the thing: You don’t even have to create your own content! You can leverage the content others have created and simply curate them by compiling them into one easy-to-find location—your Facebook group.Be sure to adhere to Facebook’s policies and rules.Keep your group light, fun, entertaining, and provide value. Do all of that and you will have a successful group and business.RESOURCES: Facebook | (See Affiliate Networks Above)11. Social Media InfluencerSocial media is all the rage today and it’s here to stay for the indefinite future. It’s had a major impact on how brands and companies market their products and service and also connect with the customers. Therefore, having a piece of this industry is probably a good idea if you want to really build a business or bring in some lucrative earnings.Social media influencers will typically build an audience in a specific niche or industry by producing and generating consistent content. Then, they’ll often monetize their audience by inserting affiliate links, doing sponsored posts (see below for more info), and taking their audience off of social media onto an email list where they can promote offers to them at a later time). You’ll notice that having people on your email list is a reoccurring theme amongst many of these strategies and I’ll share with you why later on.Becoming an influencer often requires your to reach out to other influencers for shout-outs to get your name/brand out there when starting up. Similarly, as you build your brand, you’ll often receive solicited messages from people—some being legit but many being spam.Build a loyal following and you’ll be able to get promote things to your audience and have them buy with relative ease. Just make sure you don’t over promote and only advertise things you believe in that would be beneficial to your followers.RESOURCES: Instagram | Twitter | Snapchat | Facebook | Pinterest | YouTube12. Social Media ManagerLet’s say you don’t want to have your own social media empire or be the face of a brand. Well, another option is to help social media influencers build their brand and grow their audience while being “behind the scenes”.This won’t be as lucrative as being the owner of the brand itself but if you enjoy it, you’ll still be able to take advantage of social media without having the responsibility of owning the channel or platform.Below are some tools/software that are often used by managers to help organize and schedule content distribution.RESOURCES: Hootsuite | Buffer | Meet Edgar | Tailwind13. YouTube InfluencerIf you’re like the majority of people, you probably visit YouTube multiple times throughout the day and likely get sucked into a string of random content. You start with one video that you actually wanted to watch and 2 hours later, you’re watching something completely different.Oh, the power of YouTube—they’re amazing at feeding you content and getting you to watch. It’s probably because they make a ton of revenue from viewers and watch times. But hey, that’s what we’re looking to capitalize on here so we can’t be too upset at them.Anyway, with YouTube, you have a wide range of ways you can monetize. But the foundation typically requires building a platform with a focused intent/topic(s) that you’ll be producing content about. It can be a vlog, a review channel, a channel teaching a certain skill(s) (i.e. woodworking, marketing), it can be about news, or you can even create your own show. And because there are so many different types of channels you can create, there are many ways to monetize your site. What I love about YouTube is the freedom to create. No corporate rules and teams trying to limit your creativity and your content. In terms of making money from YouTube, there are a few ways. You can post affiliate links in the description for the equipment you use, put product placements ads within your content, create company-sponsored content, drive people to your website where you have affiliate links/offers, and of course, getting people from your site to an outside email list to promote to them later on.On top of all of that, you can also elect to have ads show on your videos and collect revenue when people click/watch ads.RESOURCES: YouTube14. PodcasterAlways wanted to host your own radio show? Well, now you essentially can with relative ease. Similar to social media and YouTube, having a podcast is about building an audience through consistently publishing content in a specific niche or industry. After building an audience of raving fans who catch every episode of yours, you can monetize your podcast in the same way you would a YouTube channel (see above). With a podcast (and similar to YouTube), you as the creator have much more freedom to produce what you want without having big companies and corporations breathing down your neck and dictating what you can and can’t do.Podcasts are great because people are looking to consume content while doing other things where they can’t physically watch (like on YouTube).RESOURCES: Entrepreneurs On Fire | Smart Passive Income | Podcasting Course (Udemy)15. Author-Kindle/Create SpaceIf you’ve always wanted to write your own book, I’ve got some great news. It’s never been easier to be able to put your thoughts to words into a book and out into the world. With the Amazon Kindle platform, you can easily upload your book online and have access to Amazon’s customer base which is humungous. And you’re not limited to any type of book. As you may know, Amazon offers virtually every kind of book under the sun. Therefore, it doesn’t matter what you want to write about, Amazon has a category for it and there’s likely an audience for it. Upload it to Kindle so people can easily read it on their devices or have it physically made through Create Space, an Amazon partner.RESOURCES: K Money Mastery | Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing | Create SpaceIf you’d like to learn how to leverage fear through a FREE training I’ve put together, you can go directly to the Feardeology website. Publisher/Publishing CompanyLet’s say you’re not a writer but you want to be in the world of writing and share great written content with people. Well, another option is to become a publisher. Essentially, you can hire writers to create work(s) for you and your job is to publish and market the books.Depending on how you’d like to set up your publishing company, you could pay the writer upfront and not have to worry about royalties. Therefore, after your sales have offset the cost to write the book, everything after that will be profit (minus any marketing costs and/or fees). This strategy does require an upfront investment to pay writers as well as possibly pay for marketing.RESOURCES: Amazon Kindle | ebook.com | bookhub.com17. Online Magazine/NewsletterCreating an online magazine/newsletter is like a hybrid of a blog (which we’ll talk about later) and a publishing company. Rather than being the creator of the content yourself, your mission and purpose are to curate the work of others into one central location where people can go to read about a specific topic or niche. Or, you can even offer a wide variety of content and separate the publications by category. How does one monetize this type of model? Like most, you can insert affiliate links throughout the writing, have sponsored posts, and/or sell advertising—through banner ads or have Google AdSense on your site (more on that later). You can also offer courses and paid memberships for more exclusive content.Think of news sites and websites like success.com or lifehack.org—they’re made of up content from a wide variety of writers/creators.18. Online CoursesOffering your knowledge in exchange for your expertise is a great way to make money online. Why? Because you can typically create a course once and then sell it over and over again for years to come. Now, this depends on what you’re teaching and if it will be relevant years from now.Certain topics are only good for a few months or a year and then become obsolete. An example of this may be a course on social media. Because social media is ever-evolving, strategies today may not work 12 months from now and therefore, you may need to update your course or create a new one. This could be good or bad depending on how you look it at.Online courses will typically consist of video, audio, and other mediums such as PDFs for people to consume your content. But creating video doesn’t mean you have to be in front of the camera. You can do voice-over and slides as well as screen-sharing if you’re teaching people how to do something on the computer. You’re no longer bound by location to be able to learn or teach virtually anything about everything. If you have skills or knowledge that people are willing to pay for, online courses are a great way to go.RESOURCES: Teachable |Thinkific | OptimizePress | WishlistMember |Kajabi | SkillShare | Udemy | CreativeLive | Click Funnels19. Information Products—eBooks, Templates, BlueprintsSimilar to online courses, information products is a more broad term for digital products that don’t require shipping anything physical to the end-consumer. Instead of just ebooks on Amazon Kindle or online courses, other information/digital products you can offer for sale include templates, blueprints, or other works that include some graphic design and/or copywriting. It can be as simple as a PDF that helps someone complete a certain task or mission. They can be created as a one-and-done for one single person/company or made to be sold at scale to thousands of people.RESOURCES: Adobe Indesign | Canva I PicMonkey20. Website Builder/Website Design AgencySimilar to building a website for others as a freelancer, you can leverage your skills and knowledge by creating a whole agency where you have a team of designer/developers working for you and building sites for others. People pay your agency and you delegate the tasks to your team to complete the jobs.In this position, you may be more of the manager and the CEO rather than the worker-bee pumping out sites for clients. Your daily tasks will be significantly different from that of the web developers themselves. But in this position, it offers you a potentially more lucrative income stream/salary. It all depends on what you want to do day-to-day.RESOURCES: WordPress21. Marketing AgencyIn any business, marketing is one of the most crucial departments yet it’s often overlooked. Whether you’re a “solopreneur” or a large company, understanding marketing and knowing how to implement it can make or break your business. So, if you have a knack for marketing and know how to help businesses grow by getting more customers into their pipeline, you have a very valuable skill—today and well into the future.Having a marketing agency can mean a lot of things. It can be a one-person shop or a team of virtual marketers from around the globe. It can mean focusing on online businesses or even physical businesses. It can also mean handling the sales materials, the copywriting, the traffic (people), or even the marketing campaigns of a brand or business. All of those are vital and valuable in building a business and helping them reach their goals.RESOURCES: Upwork | Freelancer |WordStream Article (How to Start A Digital Agency)22. Advertising AgencyDo you understand how the online advertising world works? Can you get the right ads in front of the right people for companies in order to help them increase their profits? If yes, you have a valuable skill and one that many businesses would be willing to pay for.Similar to a marketing agency, this could mean you’re a solo advertising guru or you have a team of advertisers that you manage.Running ads in today’s digital age can be very lucrative with today’s tools, technology, and data collection. Running Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertisement through networks/platforms like Google, Bing, and Facebook can take businesses to new heights. Why? It’s because of the ability to target potential people who are highly interested in the product/service a business is offering. Why spend money on billboards, direct mailing, and yellow pages where you have no idea if people would even be interested in what you (or your clients) are offering? With those ad platforms, you can start an ad campaign to find people who are already looking to buy your (or your clients) products/services and then quickly determine if you need to refine your ad so you’re not wasting money. The speed of implementation and ability to make changes rapidly is what makes running ads today more effective than ever before.Running your own ads or running ads for others does require an upfront investment. However, the speed at which you can test and modify ads to becoming profitable makes it a worthwhile strategy to grow your/your client’s business(es).Below is a diagram showing the goal of running ads in its basic essence…Whether you’re directing people from Google, Bing, or Facebook to a webinar, a website selling physical products, a landing page (a page to where you capture someone’s email address), your MAIN goal is to ultimately achieve sales. Let’s be real—we’re in business to make a profit. When you invest advertising dollars into a campaign, your goal is to get a positive return(more money back then what you put in). If you’re getting less money back, then you’re losing money and you’ll have to find ways to tweak the ad campaign (who you’re targeting or what your ad is) or your backend system that’s responsible for driving sales (website, sales funnel, etc.)If you find a “winning” campaign where you’re getting a positive return on investment (ROI), then you could invest more into your campaign by increasing your budget and therefore, see greater returns on your money more quickly. This allows you to “easily” scale a business. Here are the main points to focus on for your advertising campaign…Extremely focused targeting of who you want to see your ad and therefore, your products and services.Great ad copy which is what’s going to get someone to actually click on your ad and be directed to wherever you want them to go which is…Last and certainly not least, a strong website or landing page that will guide the visitor into a sales funnel to help convert your prospects to customers.Looking to learn more about Google Ads and PPC, below is a great course from Udemy to help you get started…RESOURCES: Ultimate Guide to Google Ads (Udemy) | Wordstream |SEMRush23. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Manager/AgencyKnow how to rank pages high on sites like Google and/or Bing through Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? Businesses, blogs, and other websites are in a constant battle vying for the first page of a search engine result page (SERP) for certain keywords or phrase(s).Basically, when you someone types something into a search engine (known as a ‘query’), the search engines algorithm filters through a massive amount of data points to determine which websites are worthy of being shown on the first page of the results.Having the ability to help a business rank high organically (through regular search and not having to pay ads) for their content is important and one that you can do remotely.SEO is constantly changing and therefore, you must be up-to-date on what works and doesn’t work with helping people rank their pages higher on the search engines.RESOURCES: Moz | SearchEngineLand | Content Marketing Institute| DigitalMarketer| Long Tail Pro | SEMRush24. Lead GenerationWith any business, having a pipeline of new customers is crucial and often the lifeline which keeps the “lights on” and things flowing smoothly. If you have a stagnant client list, it’s hard to grow and scale your business. You’d have to either charge them more or produce more things you can offer for them to buy.Being able to generate leads for businesses is a sought after skill and can include but is not limited to ads as mentioned previously. It can also include going into forums and groups to send traffic to a business. It can be managing/growing social media as well. Basically, it’s anything that will help direct targeted traffic to a business.RESOURCES: Research Search Engine Marketing (SEM) | Content Marketing | Email List Brokering25. Digital Marketer—Help Physical Businesses Build an Online Presence and Bring Them More Customers/RevenueDigital marketing is an overarching field that basically deals with anything related to online marketing. From traffic to copywriting, to emails lists, sales pages, and more. In this specific model, I’m referring to helping physical/offline businesses or even new online businesses build an overall marketing strategy to help them maximize their revenue and profits.Remember, anything you can do to increase a business’ profits is highly desirable to them and potentially very lucrative for you.The book shared below is a great guide to start with if you’re just wondering into this amazing new world of online marketing and entrepreneurship.RESOURCES: Digital Marketing for Dummies | Digital Marketer26. WebinarsHosting webinars—often for free—means hosting a live training session where you share information typically on how to do something to a target audience. People sign up for your webinar in order to receive your expertise or knowledge. Then, the webinar is typically followed by an offering of your paid training, products, or services. This model has a very high buy-rate because of its live nature where you can directly connect with your audience so they can know, like, trust, and therefore, buy from you. Products/services you’d offer from a webinar can range from as little as $20 upwards into the thousands of dollars as high-ticket offers. This model does often require that you be in front of a camera so your webinar guests can connect with you. It also does require some salesmanship in order to get customers.RESOURCES: Expert Secrets Book | WebinarJam | GoToMeeting | WebinarNinja27. Retail ArbitrageThis very basic model consists of buying physical items and then reselling them for a profit. Sellers will typically buy items in bulk that are possibly discontinued or from a going-out-of-business sale. Then, they post them online using sites such as Craigslist or eBay.It could also be just buying single items here and then there with the intent of reselling each item for a profit. However, this model can be very time-consuming and not the best use of your efforts for getting a return on your time/effort/money.RESOURCES: Craigslist | eBay | OfferUp | LetGo | Poshmark28. Drop ShippingDrop shipping refers to selling physical goods and having a third-party company/warehouse ship the product direct to your end-customer. Typically, when you’re selling a physical product, you have to store the inventory and then manually ship your items when they’re ordered. This can be very costly (to have storage space) as well as time-consuming for either yourself or your team to ship and fulfill orders. When you drop ship items, you typically have an online storefront where you market products and handle the collection of payments. When an order is placed, a third-party company (the manufacturer) will handle the fulfillment—packaging and shipping. You would then pay a cut to that company for doing their part of the supply chain. And depending on your product and the margins, paying someone else to fulfill may make more sense in terms of time, effort, and finances.Products that can be drop shipped may even be custom or made-to-order. There are certain fulfillment centers who already specialize in that industry—T-shirts are a great example. If those are the types of products you’re offering, it’ll make sense to hire that manufacture to produce and ship the products because they have the facilities and the logistical capability to handle the orders rather than you building/renting/buying your own warehouse and developing a process from scratch.RESOURCES: Shopify29. Membership/Subscription SiteHave unique and exclusive content your audience would love? If you already produce free content online, offering your audience—readers, viewers, or listeners—specialized content can be a great addition to your income stream. Why? Because with a subscription where people pay monthly, it offers you a stream of passive income which provides you with a more “predictable” revenue in the future.RESOURCES: OptimizePress | MemberPress | WishlistMember | Teachable30. Investing in the Stock MarketYou’re likely already invested in the markets through your retirement portfolio—whether it’s an IRA, 401K, or anything of similar nature. Learning how to invest in individual stocks, mutual funds, ETFs (exchange-traded funds) can be a great way to put your dollars to work.Investing in your retirement is a more passive and hands-off strategy while investing in the stock market requires you to be more proactive and on top of today’s trends and trading environment. There is risk involved (like most businesses or online strategies) so there is a chance you could lose money with this money-making vehicle. But hey, you’ve got to pay to play. You’ll win some and you’ll lose some—no one wins 100% of the time. The goal is to have a long-term outlook and have your winners outweigh your losers. Investing in the markets requires patience as well as an understanding of trends.Don’t invest with your own emotions. Instead, learn how to invest off other’s emotions because often times, it’s not all about the performance numbers that predict whether a stock will go up or down. Many times, it’s swayed by what people THINK it will do—even if the performance characteristics don’t justify the price movement or the price of a stock.RESOURCES: Investor’s Business Daily | Morningstar | Investopedia| The Intelligent Investor | How to Make Money In Stocks | Acorns31. Google AdSenseHave a website with a decent amount of traffic? If so, you may be able to leverage Google AdSense. Basically, you (or your web developer) can install code onto your website that allows Google to place ads on your website. But don’t worry, the ads will be relevant and targeted so you won’t have an ad for women’s shaving cream on a website for men’s sports. This is a great way to add an additional “passive” income stream to your site..Start running Google AdSense and if you don’t like the ads you see, remove the ads and the code.RESOURCES: Google AdSense | Google AdSense YouTube32. Sponsored Posts—Blog, YouTube, Podcast, Social MediaI mentioned sponsored posts earlier but this is essentially where a company or a brand will pay you to have a specific piece of content on your platform—blog, YouTube channel, social media page, etc. A sponsored post may in your own writing/words and you’re just mentioning a few key things about the sponsored product/service. Or, a company may provide you with the entire piece of content (i.e. article to post or script to read).Typically, a sponsored post is only possible when you have a decent sized audience that is engaged and targeted. Brands or companies may reach out to you if they like your business/brand and think there could be a mutual benefit to both parties. But don’t just put up a sponsored post for the money if it’s not related or doesn’t benefit your audience. You may lose trust and hurt your overall business.Only focus on products or services that are relevant and beneficial. This will help you, the sponsoring company, and the audience giving a win-win-win scenario which is ideal!33. Banner AdsIf you have a website, having banner ads throughout your site can be a great way to add a revenue stream to your online business. Banner ads are typically found on the sidebar but can also be found throughout a post or even at the bottom of the page. You can manually put these banner ads in yourself or have a developer do it for you. But don’t put too many on your site as it can be distracting to the visitor as well overwhelming.Make sure your banner ads are relevant to the audience and promoting products/services/people that you actually support and stand behind.RESOURCES: Entrepreneur.com Article | 99designs.com Article34. Hosting Online EventsDo you like to host events or parties? Then perhaps this might be the best model for you. You can host online events where people gather and you or someone else can share information about a certain topic. To monetize, you can collect money in order to view the event.A monetization strategy idea you could use would be to allow people to watch/attend the event at one price and offer them bonuses for being there live, Then, offer it at a discount for people to watch it later on. That way, you can get paid while hosting the event live but then have a “product” which you can sell later on to maximize your revenue.RESOURCES: Zoom | Google Hangouts35. Build Email lists and Offer Ads or Promotions to OthersI mentioned building email lists a few times earlier in various strategies. In the online business world, having an email list is crucial. Why? Because with most platforms such as YouTube or Facebook, you do not “own” your audience. If they decide to shut your account down for any reason (valid or not) or change their terms of service, you could lose your audience and therefore, your business overnight. With an email list, you essentially “own” it and have more control. Therefore, you must direct your traffic/audience to an email list so you can keep providing value and content to them. By doing so, you continue to build rapport and trust and have the ability to market to them in the future. As you develop an audience/email list, you’ll have the option to promote other peoples/companies products as an affiliate or get paid to promote as a partner—this is typically known as a joint venture (JV). So you can make offers and get paid when people buy or you can get paid upfront whether people buy or not. It’ll depend on what you’re promoting and offering but as always, make sure that it’s relevant and beneficial to your email list.RESOURCES: AWeber | ConstantContact | GetResponse36. Create a Software/Service Company (Software as a Service a.k.a. SaaS)Have a unique and valuable idea for an app or software? Creating a SaaS company may be the way to go to get your service in the hands of people. Whether it be for tablets, PCs or mobile devices, there’s a large market for new and useful apps and software. But keep in mind that if you’re not a developer, creating a software can be very costly to build, refine, and maintain.Software tends to require many iterations over time as more users utilize the software and more bugs are discovered.37. Sales Funnel BuilderSales funnels are vitally important to virtually all online businesses today that selling any sort of product, service, membership, etc. Most businesses will typically have a checkout page and when a customer buys something, that’s it. They get a simple ‘Thank You’ and a confirmation notice. But the fact is this…businesses are missing out on massive opportunities to improve revenues and profits through building well-thought out and executed sales funnels. So what exactly is a sales funnel?Essentially, a sales funnel is a series of web pages that walks a buyer through the purchasing process while strategically offering additional products/services for purchase. This capitalizes on the fact that while the person is in a “buying state”, they’re more likely to purchase more from you. Many businesses are flat-out “leaving money on the table” because they either don’t have a sales funnel or don’t have a good one. That’s where you’d come into play. Learning to build entire sales funnels for businesses is extremely valuable and therefore, something you can charge a pretty penny for. Here’s a diagram showing you what a very basic sales funnel may look like…The fact is that there are so many different types of sales funnels that work for so many different types of businesses. Therefore, learning how to build quality sales funnels is a unique and valuable skill you could offer to a variety of businesses. To learn more about sales funnels, “DotCom Secrets” by Russell Brunson is hands-down the book you need to get your hands on and study. It changed my entire approach to online marketing.RESOURCES: Funnel U | DotCom Secrets | ClickFunnels38. e-Commercee-Commerce is a broad term and essentially covers all types of online retail which includes selling of physical goods. This could be done through niche websites focused on a specific industry. It can be selling goods through eBay and creating a brand. It could also be having a store on your companies blog where you sell physical goods that match your audiences’ interests.e-Commerce includes buying inventory yourself and then selling, drop shipping, made-to-order purchases, and even third-party fulfillment.Third-party fulfillment differs from drop shipping in that you order the inventory and have it shipped to a third-party who handles packaging/shipping whereas a drop shipping company is typically the manufacturer of goods as well as the fulfillment center.RESOURCES: Shopify | WooCommerce Plugin for WordPress39. Amazon FBAFBA stands for ‘Fulfillment By Amazon’. In this internet business model, you can send a shipment of goods to an Amazon warehouse where they’ll store your items. You create a seller’s account where you can then create a product page for your item(s).When someone buys your product, Amazon handles the payment, packages your item, and ships it to the customer. And for doing all of that, they get a cut of the sale. Once all of the fees are paid out, Amazon pays you your share of the sale. It’s basically using Amazon as a third-party fulfillment center. In this model, you’d have to source the products by finding a manufacturer who can produce what you want (within your country or overseas) and work out the logistics of getting it into an Amazon warehouse.Once the goods are in the warehouse(s), your job is to then create an effective product page with eye-catching images and stellar copywriting in order to convert browsers into buyers. Videos will also help to demonstrate the ease-of-use or benefits of your product. With Amazon, you have the ability to offer multiple related products to build a brand or you can offer a variety of unrelated products. Often, building a brand is a better choice because you’ll likely have customers who’ll buy more items from you. Plus, building a strong brand means loyal customers as well as an increase in the value of your business if you ever choose to sell it.After they buy your products, be sure to follow up with excellent customer service so they buy from you again. And then again—either more of the same product or additional products.RESOURCES: Jungle Scout | The Amazing Seller | How to Start Amazon FBA40. BloggingWe’ve all read a few blogs in our times and it’s a potentially very lucrative online business model. If you’re a content creator who enjoys writing, making videos, creating podcasts, or even does social media, having your own blog/website where you can drive all of your traffic to is a must. Your blog/website serves as a “home base” where people can get more information about you, your brand, and your mission. On top of that, that’s where you can then offer products and services to monetize your site and other platforms (i.e. social media). You can use strategies such as affiliate marketing—place links throughout your content or market affiliate offers via email. You can have sponsored posts. You can have banner ads. And so on.But ultimately—as I mentioned before—you want to build an email list so you continue to connect, provide value, and market to people even after they leave your site. Because the reality is this: Once most people leave your site, they likely won’t return unless you give them a good reason to.People still check their email inboxes every day and if you’re there to help them, they’ll be more likely to consume your content and ultimately, buy something from you.RESOURCES: ProBlogger | Blogging41. Coaching/ConsultingHave experience and expertise? Like working with people? Then coaching may be the right fit for you. Becoming a coach or a consultant can allow you to command big bucks depending on your level of expertise as well as your demand. The more people competing for your attention, the more valuable your time becomes, and the more you can charge. Those who are really seeking your wisdom and knowledge will surely pay for your time.Like most of the online businesses discussed here, this could be done in so many different industries—personal development, business, marketing, health and wellness, fitness, relationships, etc.And if you offer products, services, programs, or online courses, offering coaching is the next logical step to help people get results faster. Sure, they can follow your program and get the results. But if they want to reach their goals quickly, you coaching them may be the boost they need and/or want.42. MastermindsA mastermind is typically a relatively small group of individuals with a very focused mission. It’s often a paid group in order to filter out those who aren’t serious and there are typically requirements to even be considered to be part of a mastermind. But once you’re in, you have access to special and “secret” information that the elite know and others want to know. So, how do you monetize a mastermind? Well, you could be the organizer of the mastermind itself—the person who assembles a team of people in a certain field or industry to help each other get to the next level. There are mastermind groups that cost $25,000 a year to join. Some even cost $100,000. Yes, people actually pay those amounts. But here’s the thing… If you were to create a mastermind, the value you must deliver and the resources one would need to have access to would have to multiply their initial investment many times over. And that’s how you could justify such high fees for entry. But no one says masterminds have to have a minimum of 5-figures. One can certainly offer access to a mastermind at a few hundred or a $1,000 per year.43. Selling WebsitesLet’s say you already have a successful website and you want to unload it. Or, you want to help others sell their websites and earn commissions. Either way, there’s already a marketplace of people who are looking for successful and profitable websites/businesses to buy rather than start one from scratch. So, if you already have a website that has traffic and has built value in the marketplace, you may be able to sell it and earn a profit for your efforts. That’s a bonus on top of already earning revenue/income from your website beforehand.RESOURCES: Flippa | Exchange Marketplace44. WriterBeing a writer online differs then being an author or a blogger although it may involve you being those as well. Someone who writes online may purely focus their efforts writing for other websites and forums instead of their own blog or personal brand. As a writer, your goal is to provide value while demonstrating your knowledge, expertise, and ability to help people resolve their needs, fix their problems, and/or fulfill their desires. If you choose to become an online writer, you would ideally still want to drive your audience back to your website (even though you may not publish your work there as you would on a blog) and get them onto your email list. After all, writing is a form of marketing (content marketing) and at the end of the day, you do need to generate revenue/income if you want to continue to write and support your work. There are many people who work(write) for online companies that generate content but they choose not to write their own books, blog posts, etc. That’s why this strategy is on its own and also differs from a freelance writer who is hired to write on a project-by-project basis. For example, I would consider my online business/strategy to be this one—writing. CocoDoc lets you have a free trial to actually use their system in real time. Digital Signatures can save a lot of time, but I have used several solutions and many of them can be cumbersome.
