Complex Environment Devices: Fill & Download for Free

Well, if you’re smart, you’re using your devise to increase your knowledge about how to stay healthy, find retirement havens, save money on everything from repairs to homes.The possibilities are endless for finding information to improve our lives, our knowledge of the world, and ways to entertain ourselves and avoid going crazy in a rapidly expanding and complex environment.

Take a look at kamranahmedse/developer-roadmap, Richard Kenneth Eng has already spoken about this developer roadmap at the end of 2018, this is my take on it, there are 3 ways to be involved in web development, Front End, Back End, and Dev Ops:Front End: Just as the roadmap suggests, this is one of the most over-engineered and complex environments to work, a plethora of libraries and frameworks to learn, a language with way too lax rules (like what can be considered true or false), and the range of devices to cover and test during development, you will notice it has gotten way bigger since 2018, however, is also one of the most rewarding since you can see in real-time the result of your effort.The range of devices can escalate quickly depending on what your application plans to support (5 or more OS (win, mac, Linux, android, ios, IoT devices) X 5 or more browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, IE…) X 4 or more resolutions (range from 320*568 to 2560*937 ultra-wide screens)) which put the total environments above 100 to account in your code/styles/markup, complex enough?Back End: This one is also complex and hard, however, it is in a different way than Front End, there’s a lot of languages and many tools that replace each other in other languages, Database technologies to learn, and tools and architectures as well, and usually the decision of what to use depends on what it’s going to be used in the Front End, most times managers don’t look at your work, but at the Front End since they are the ones to show something in the browser, so even if you’re good, sometimes stuff goes south because the Front End guys didn’t do good themselves, but at least you have control over the server, instead of relying on browsers made by 3rd parties without knowing which browser will the end-user do:Dev Ops: Probably the underdog here, Dev Ops demand is growing fast, and it makes sense since these guys are the ones that keep your app running and fast, deploying the app to multiple regions to make sure the end-user is the closest to at least 1 of your deployed servers, automating the process so the other devs can keep developing and deploying all the time (like that statement that Amazon does multiple deploys to production a day, don’t remember the number though), also very complex and rewarding as well:At this point you see web development is huge, that’s why specializations exist, me myself am a front end dev specializing in Angular, React, React Native & Ionic, if I were to list what I know from the front-end graph, I would own 60% of the recommended ones (yellow), and yet I’m working with the biggest IT companies here in Colombia.Web development is complex, it’s also rewarding if you like to solve complex problems and challenge yourself, you combine that with the high demand and high remuneration (due to both the demand and the difficulty/responsibility) and you can guess it is very well worth it, as long as you have the skills, companies will hire, so go for it.

Some database engines are implemented as libraries, such as SQLite Home Page (SQLite), Oracle Berkeley DB, and Ubiquitous Corporation [Ubiquitous] (DeviceSQL). These are typically used in embedded-device or standalone applications that don't involve any notion of sharing of data between applications.OTOH, most database engines do intend to have multiple applications share data, and this "sharing" is more complex than you can easily achieve in a library. It often involves very complex caching, security issues, and many other problems that are very hard to deal with if you have apps trying to manage a database cooperatively. Also, once you have apps running somewhere other than the machine hosting the data, you want some way to allow them to get at the data that is smarter than a shared filesystem.At DeviceSQL, we actually used shared memory and mutexes to allow apps to share a database without needing a server, but the apps had to be written very carefully as this approach could only support cooperative multitasking (Computer multitasking) (with some notion of alarm-driven interrupting available). This approach worked decently in a small, extremely well-tested app environment, but would be hugely difficult to do in a more complex environment, particularly one in which apps can't be "trusted".
