PDF Editor FAQ

What's the most bizarre thing you've ever been flagged for at an airport?

A Helium Neon laser tube. It looked a little like this:I was a high school student flying to Tennessee for a science fair. My science project used a laser, along with some additional electronics and optics. I shipped everything else but didn’t want to risk sending this through the postal service. So, I carried it on.If you see this on X-ray it raises a lot of questions. The tube I had was three inches in diameter and about sixteen inches long. I got pulled to the side and I answered a lot of questions. Finally asked for a demonstration to ensure it was safe, which I couldn’t give them because the power supply was also shipped. They weren't sure what to do with me or the laser. Finally a TSA agent looked down the aperture and saw light. He assumed the tube was hollow and said, “that can’t be dangerous — I can see right through it”, and let me on the plane. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that what he saw was his own reflection in the output coupler mirror.I didn’t win the science fair, but I still have the laser, and it still even fires (sometimes).

What is your craziest TSA experience?

EDIT: I've finished the story. See below.I have a story to tell, but I have to recall all the details and compose it.In the meantime… I was the in line to drop off my luggage when just to my left TSA pulled a man out of line and asked him his name, and if the box they were holding was his. The name on the box was a match. “Is this your chainsaw?” Chainsaw?! This dumbshit was actually trying to get a chainsaw on the plane! Apparently, it started to leak gasoline and/or oil and bleed through the box.SMH… dumbshit.EDIT:I was not a frequent flyer traveler but by no means was I a stranger to air travel, either. My family being scattered across the country decided to meet in a fairly central location to all of us for one of my father's landmark birthdays… in New Orleans. It was an awesome long weekend for this family reunion, and everyone went home happy. I get back to California and find a TSA notification in my bag telling me that they went through my bag and that there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. (This was >15 years ago at a time when I dare not try and travel with cannabis. While it was legal for medicinal purposes in California, it wasn't for adult use anywhere.) This was the first time I had ever received one, so I cursed them, and then forgot about it.Fast forward to somewhere around 2011 or 2012. My nephew was getting married in Massachusetts, so I went to the wedding. My brother in Tennessee was on his last leg as lung cancer was dragging him towards the portal of the next realm, so I stopped in to see him by way of Delta Airlines in Atlanta. They lost my luggage. It showed up the next day, but still, they lost my luggage. I don't remember if I received another TSA notification or not.I returned one month later for the funeral, again on Delta Airlines through Atlanta, and again, they lost my luggage. It showed up the next day, but still, they lost my luggage. Again. I don't remember if I received another TSA notification or not.I used to fly through Logan in Boston in order to get nonstop xc flights, but eventually switched to PVD as it turned out to be much easier. I made trips back east in 2010-11–12–13–14, twice in one year two times. I was receiving these TSA notices on a regular basis. (Dafuq?)I think it was 2014 when I was returning to California when I was sitting near an uncrowded gate and noticed several TSA dogs and their handlers passing by me several times, and in close proximity, too. (Dafuq?!)Then an unkempt older, fat, white male sat down right next to me. Boocoo seats everywhere and he sits down right.next.to.me. He starts up a conversation about the sniffing dogs, then he goes on about him working in Texas and Oklahoma oil fields before going to the Middle East to work there. He started up with racist Muslim slurs. It seemed as if he was trying hard to engage me in a discussion or argument depending upon my opinions of them. It was like he was challenging me to be sympathetic to Muslims and if I wasn't, then why wasn't I on his side cursing them all out.I harbor no ill will to anyone of different color. Same goes for anyone of different faiths as long as you don't start proselytizing on me. I was quickly becoming uncomfortable with this racist redneck sitting next to me, so I collected my bags and took off for the restroom and returned to find a different seat.

I Live in Kansas but can work in Missouri, and Nebraska. I am a new pistol owner. As far as I can tell they are all constitutional carry and two are conceal and no needed carry licenes. Can I commute to work across state lines with my firearms?

Your resident Kansas concealed carry permit is valid inAlabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. So you should have no problems driving to work, of course you have to obey the state laws of the state you are in. If flying you have to follow the TSA guidelines for transporting of a gun.
