Manipal has two seasons.First, the murderous summer which basically extends from October-November to April-May, with the intensity magnifying with every fortnight. By the time, one reaches the even semester, he/she is roasted to medium brown.Secondly, the monsoons between the months of May-June to September-October. These rains are highly erratic and sometimes annoying.It will pour cats and dogs even if the day started with an amazing sunshine with no cloud cover to be seen anywhere along the coast of western India. Yet, somehow, crazy clouds will appear out of no where and make everything wet.Hence, in Manipal, your best friend is an umbrella. The one object that will help you throughout the year, be it from shielding you against the scorching heat, or protecting your head from the rain (an umbrella isn't enough for the rest of your body, the rains are insane).Lastly, sometimes, it rains whenever it decides to. Not long ago, it felt like raining in March, and so it did: drenching all the students out of the blue.Hope this helps.

As of now, focus on improving your pointer. People say third year is the toughest one to score good grades but this is just a saying (or a myth) not the truth. There are various people around to look at (as examples), who were at the same level as you after their 4th semester but due to hard work and diligence, they were able to raise their pointer to 8+. So, try your best to achieve as high as you can.If you are aiming to go for MS in one of the World's TOP 50 universities (most of which are in United States) just after completing your undergraduation, then do start preparing for GRE from the start of your 6th Semester. Self-preparation is the best way i would suggest. Refer to the books in library and consult your college seniors who have already appeared for the same. Seniors are your best asset you have at this point. Make sure you give your GRE and TOEFL before 31st August of the same year as it will provide you a month's time to prepare your SOP and list the colleges you want to apply for (based on your GRE scores and overall profile). University selection is a tedious task, so prepare yourself for it and do not get bored easily. The applications come out in the month of September-October. Apply as early as possible but do not mess up your application in hurry! Almost each and every university have two application deadlines. One is the Regular deadline and the other one is Priority deadline. Try to complete your application in every sense before the priority deadline (except recommendations) so as to be considered for university funding.Then comes the waiting period which is too long to survive. It will be a very irritating and not so amusing time but stay calm and do not lose hope at any point. I myself used to wake up six times in the night to check my inbox in order to find any admission decision notification. If it happens with you (which i am sure of) just take it as a sign which signifies a normal behavior! Do not panic and enjoy the feeling :P The admission decisions usually come in the months of March to June. If you have been sincere all your way to this point and the luck is on your side, you will definitely get an admit from your dream university.PS:- Being an LNMIITian does not increase or decrease your chances of getting an admit from one of the top universities. What matters is your work that you did while your four years of stay at LNMIIT. Try to get involve in good research projects that are currently being pursued around you. DO NOT ONLY AIM TO PUBLISH A RESEARCH PAPER!. If you work smartly and effectively, the output will definitely be a research paper. So, just try your hands on some new ideas and make effort to get a result which is worth including in a research paper. One more point is try getting in contact with professors around the world. If you get a chance to attend some good International/National conference, make sure to use such an opportunity. You can apply to German universities twice a year. Once for the winter admissions and for the summer admissions. Winter semesters usually start from the last week of September or first week of October. The best time to apply for winter admissions is during March and April. The deadlines for winter admissions extend till June and July however it is better to apply by March or April since the processes after getting an admit will significant amount of time. It is better and also recommended to start with the winter semester. Summer semesters start from March and application can start from November of the previous year.
