Ten Rocket engineers from Yuzmash rocket factory in Dnepro, Ukraine were in North Korea from March-June 2017 helping North Korea refine the Hwasong-14 missile. There had been a pattern of similar visits in past years.N.Korean Missile Engines Supplied by RussiaIn March 2017 North Korea (DPRK) static tested the upper or second stage rocket for the Hwasong-14 ICBM missile (American designation “KN-20”).The pale green segmented rocket nozzle seen in the image above is unique to a very modern cutting edge rocket engine known as a hybrid solid propellant rocket.What is visible here is a web support for the solid propellant which increased the surface area to increase the burning rate known as the Regression rate. In a normal solid propellant rocket the regression rate is quite fast but because of the different nature of propellant used in a Hybrid motor the rate is too slow unless segmented with multi ports for the escape of gases.It is called a Hybrid because like a liquid fueled rocket a Hybrid solid propellant relies on an oxidizer, only in this type of engine the oxidizer is in gaseous form, not liquid. The advantage of a Hybrid is that it can be stored for long periods quite safely and the thrust can be throttled for exact control of ballistic trajectories.This technique is so cutting edge that it is highly unlikely North Korea as a nation under severe sanctions could have acquired or developed such techniques without Ukrainian assistance.Hwasong-14 is the ICBM missile that is capable of striking New York with a MIRV warhead delivering three 300 kiloton Thermonuclear warheads.The missile’s first stage RD 250 engine was also apparently copied or developed from one manufactured at the same plant whilst Ukraine was still part of the Soviet Union.The interesting point here is that the Russians only ever developed the RD-250 as part of an RD-251 with a dual engine mounting. The RD-251 had a turbopump providing a fuel flow to power two engines.The RD-251 pump itself was a complex pressurized closed cycle device that North Korea likely required experienced expert assistance to master. DPRK would have to have developed a smaller closed cycle turbopump suitable for just one combustion chambered engine.For North Korea to develop this engine for a single chamber fuel flow the engine specifically had to be redesigned with a new turbopump. Only engineers from Yuzmash rocket factory or a Russian engineer could have developed a single combustion chamber version of the RD-250 Cyclone engine.In Yuzmash’s home town University there is a locally developed single chamber RD-250 engine on display which a Yuzmash engineer developed since the break up of the Soviet Union.Ukrainian smuggling to North KoreaIn 2009 an IL-76 cargo plane flew rocket parts from Kiev to North Korea via Azerbaijan, UAE & Thailand. On the night of December 11, 2009, the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand called the Prime Minister to request the aircraft be arrested and detained by Thai authorities on arrival from Pyongyang.When the aircraft was seized at 4.00pm next day, the international intricate web of shell companies managing the operation simply vanished into thin air.In reality, these companies never existed except on paper.S/2013/337 - EThis aircraft above registered 4L-AWA was registered to Air West an airline created in Georgia in 2008. Ukrainian Yuriy Lunov owned the company, Air West, which held the AOC operating license for the aircraft which hired the crew.Despite ostensibly Georgian ownership the was painted in a scheme used by Ukrainian charter airlines, ie white fuselage with engine casing painted blue.Ukrainian Igor Karev-Popov created a Shell company SP Trading Ltd with the assistance of agents GT Group Ltd in New Zealand and GT Capital Ltd Hong Kong Ltd, which were linked with Unitrust Ltd in New Zealand that is controlled by Ukrainian expatriates based in Toronto Canada.The interesting point of this is that several Ukrainian Engineering graduates in Toronto were also linked with this trail of shell companies as nominee directors who were also linked with Yuzhmash who were trying to establish a satellite launch business in Nova Scotia Canada for the Tsyklon4M rocket using rocket engines related to those identified on North Korea’s Hwasong-14 missile.SP Trading chartered the IL-76 aircraft to perform the arms smuggling flights to North Korea. Previously the same plane had been registered to an international arms trafficker Kazakh national Aleksandr Viktorovich Zykov through a company registered in the United Arab Emirates.On the flight in which the cargo plane was arrested which began at Kiev on December 10th 2009 flown to Pyongyang before the arrest at Bangkok all the cargo & handling details were co-ordinated by Arkadi Borodinski, Nicolai Kuryakin and a Thai citizen Boonmee Khemkhaeng.New Zealand citizen Geoff Taylor of GT Croup (NZ) Ltd and GT Capital (Hong Kong) Ltd is currently under indictment by the FBI for financing the flight.Ukrainian Igor Karev-Popov was the mysterious figure referred to in press reports as “a UK based European” who controlled the New Zealand registered shell company, SP Trading, which from the shadows leased the IL-76 aircraft from Air West via SP Trading’s shell mail-drop office in Kiev, Ukraine. The London-based company formation agent was acting on behalf of Iurii Lunov & Igor Karev-Popov. SP Trading operated from an office located in Ukraine (19-21 Frunze Street, Kiev).The ACMI lease contract with Air West was signed on 5 November 2009. Only two legally registered air carriers, known as AOC holders can agree on a lease under Aircraft Crew Maintenance Insurance (ACMI) contract conditions. There is no evidence that SP Trading was ever a legally registered owner of an Air Operator Certificate (AOC).On 10 November 2009, they both parties agreed that SP Trading would direct payment to the aircraft’s real owner, Overseas Cargo. investigations established that SP Trading made no payment to Air West or Overseas Cargo from the bank account specified in the contract. SP Trading however had dealings suggestive of money laundering with a British Virgin Island-registered company.Upon leasing the plane, SP Trading then signed an agreement with a just created Hong Kong registered front company, Union Top Management (UTM), which chartered the aircraft. Ukrainian Igor Karev-Popov was the mysterious figure who was “a UK based European” who controlled the New Zealand registered shell company, SP Trading, which from the shadows leased the aircraft from Air West from SP Trading’s shell mail-drop office in Kiev, Ukraine.Air Way Bills provided the name of a consignee in Ukraine, Aerotrack Ltd, supposed to be located at the exact same Kiev address as SP Trading, but nowhere to be found by Ukrainian authorities in their official registries. According to these, the DPRK consignor was an entity named Korean General Trading Corporation.The companies were all mail drops hurriedly established in obscure offices spanning the globe. They were all creations of other legal companies that exploited loopholes in national laws from New Zealand to Hong Kong to Ukraine to London – to hide true identities of their owners.(below) IL-76 aircraft’s outbound flight from Kiev 10 December 2009:Most of the companies involved were set up by Vanuatu-based GT Group Ltd, controlled by New Zealand accountant Geoffrey Taylor and sons Ian and Michael as reported by Stuff NZ. Publicly, he was a company director and often the chairman of respectable sharemarket-listed companies both in Australia and in New Zealand.Privately, however Taylor’s shell company structures were used by those behind them by a vast illicit game of hide-and-seek, through client incorporations of thousands of entities involved in the international movement of oil, guns and money.US intelligence was tipped off to the smuggling by Wachovia Bank (Wells Fargo Bank) who indicated wire transfers for arms shipments were conducted under the names of corporations owned by VicAm (Auckland) Ltd., a New Zealand corporation provided by consultants GT Group, and based in the tax haven South Pacific island of Vanuatu. From 1997-2002 Taylor was vice president of Vanuatu-based company European Bank.Russia has nothing to do with this and in fact Russia has been arresting people trying to smuggle missiles to North Korea since 1991 when the Soviet Union broke up.

AOC has some very positive qualities. I don’t think her economic analysis is terribly deep or careful.I sincerely wish she would carefully read the 1928 and 1932 socialist party platforms and a bit on the history of the US income tax. The orginal idea was to fund the Socialist party agenda largely by:a) a direct tax on concentrations of assetsb) broad tax on real property or landIncome taxes tend not to fall on entrenched wealth as much as those becoming more wealthy. Much of the period when the US had very high marginal tax rates :a) there were all kinds of loopholes(many of which were specifically available the US wealthy). This period was marked by strong growth in the accounting and legal professions with all the overhead they impose.b) the US was in either depression, war or a boom fueled by the fact it was the only major industrial country that wasn’t in shambles. As Michael Moore has pointed out: it is easy to do well when your competition is temporarily gone.c) there were other measures in place like the great restriction of immigraiton from the late 20’s to early 60’s that accounted for some of the working class prosperity she observes( I have written extensively on such policies, AOC has not)Since the failure of the Soviet planned economy, there has been tendency of the left to retreat from economic issues. That has been seen by emphasis on the writings of leaders like Antonio Gramscii and Saul Alinsky.Reagan gutted anything that smacked of “European style economic planning” and with it much of the indepndent analytical capability of the federal government. I don’t see the US having anything like the comparative analytical capability they back in days of Norman Thomas.. Part of the way the New Deal was achieved was having a bunch of ideas around that were really carefully thought out and backed up so that when FDR had tried everything else and failed, he could borrow from the socialist party platform. Norman Thomas was amazed at just how much of the SP platform was obtained.What I think is under appreciated:just how strategic the parts on taxation that were left out were.AOC would do well to look at this history very, very carefully. Until she and her colleagues do, their policies will be naive and destined for unintended side effects in a very unforgiving environment.I want to contain further concentration of wealth in the US just as much as AOC does. I think the idea of doing that by raising income rates is naive and incomplete. We need to look carefully at other taxes like a progressive tax on asset and created the specifc kinds of underlying technological changes that are likely to generate truly broader prosperity.

AOC is naïve when it comes to political power. She and Taihlib (sp?) think they are King S*** of Turd Hill, and they are half right. They are neophytes, puppets to coerce the masses of the uneducated. Soviet leaders were Machiavellian when they assumed power on the coattails of described “useful idiots”. Today we see a not too dissimilar approach being taken in the ultra left propaganda in America. This next election will determine just how awake most people are to this narrative.By the way, the power wielded by such as Pelosi is a sad statement on the overall ethics of a party determined to further polarize the political spectrum. When will we see ALL politicians doing what the swore an oath to do, support, defend and obey the Constitution and our Bill of Rights?
