How should I study for AP Chemistry?

Thanks for the A2A, I actually took the AP Chem test before the year it was revamped, so I don't know how useful my advice will be, but I'll give it a shot.Do lots of practice tests and problems! I remember doing lots of those in class. 'Nuff said.Make them flashcards/learn mnemonics. My sister taught me maybe 2 weeks before the test a mnemonic she used to know how Hydrogens are in a organic compound based on the ending, -yne, -ane, and -ene. I don't remember it anymore (probably will have to ask her again when I take Chemistry in college) but the one organic chem FRQ that decided to sneak up on the end? Let's just say I had less tears streaming down my face than my classmates.Watch Crash Course series. I never actually did this when studying for my test because I didn't know it existed, but I think the videos will help you understand the general concept. I don't think watching those on their own will help you though. (I definitely know the World History ones don't.)AP books! You probably already know about Princeton Review, Barron's, etc. but also check out the Crash Course ones (not to be confused with the video series, two totally different things).I have a google drive folder that my Chem sub, who taught AP Chem many years before she retired two years before I took it, compiled together. Hopefully you will be able to access it through this link: AP Exam Review (if not let me know and I will try to see if I can make it accessible.)Good luck!

What can I do to be successful in AP Chemistry?

Holy guacamole, this question literally sounds like I wrote it. This is literally the dilemma I had been facing and to be frank, still am.But I like to imagine that I have found a solution, and perhaps I have ;)Let's start off with that giant, horrendous, monstrous textbook you have. Maybe it's an outdated Zumdahl like mine, or maybe something else. But it's imperative that you utilize it. If you don't understand anything, go refer to it, it's extremely likely it may teach you step by step how to solve your problem.Second let's go to these greatly underrated online resources. There's plenty available (my guess is that chemistry is universally a pain in the a**), go take a peek and learn a bit. Check these out: ChemWiki: The Dynamic Chemistry Hypertext , Mr. Kent's Chemistry Regents Help and AP Chemistry Exam Review Pages , there's a ton of other sites as well, and don't forget YouTube videos. I'm a personal fan of MissRoake (wish I had her for AP Chem). Now here's a big secret weapon of mine:Preparing for the AP* Chemistry Exam – Part 1Preparing for the AP* Chemistry Exam – Part 2Literally covers AP Chemistry, provides a ton of practice problems, and overall is an excellent program, and self-paced. Utilize it.So there's one more thing left and those are the prep books, which User-13484318331675562012 has talked about already, but I have Princeton Review, and a few friends have Barron's. Grab one, I've heard Barron's is excellent but slightly more complicated, while Princeton Review is too simple. Your call. Now you noted that homework is optional. Excellent, same thing here, except my grade is comprised of 60% tests, and 40% labs. Ace those god dang labs, they are the things your grade is hinging on. And if she does assign homework, just do it. Trust me, just do it.(Also I'm not too worried about my grade itself but the AP Exam, as she's promised that if you get a 5 BOOM, automatic A both semesters. :) But she's never had to change the grades before as only those with A's both semesters get 5s. Guess I'll be the first. (fingers crossed))BTW Good Luck!!!

How hard is AP chemistry?

It all depends on your teacher and how much dedication you decide to put into the course. And even with all that, you will find it difficult. To put it into context, I took AP Chemistry last year with an entire class of students who felt confident in their Chemistry skills. The majority of us took Honors Chemistry the previous school year, so we were already exposed to the fundamental basics of AP Chemistry.Despite all this, the class was difficult. We students were required to understand key concepts of AP Chemistry in and out so that when it came time for the AP exam, we could apply those same concepts in the trickiest of situations. The exams we took in the class were aimed to stimulate the feeling of stress and anxiety we would feel during the actual AP exam, in addition to which we were even given an official 60 - question multiple choice AP Chemistry exam to complete within an hour.Is it still possible to get an A in the class? Definitely. In fact, I would go one step further and claim that the reason why students sometimes fail to thrive in AP Chemistry is because they mentally rank the subject as an impossibility.Putting something out of reach WILL GUARANTEE lackluster performance because you are mentally shutting yourself off from trying in the slightest bit. This happened in my Chemistry class when more than half of my class failed our first ever AP Chemistry exam. Those that were heartbroken never really did any better, whereas those individuals who kindled an even brighter flame in their hearts swore to do better in the subject many considered to be an impossibility. And they did. Those students who never lost sight of their goal succeeded in the class, and undoubtedly crushed the AP exam. Their prospects for the future look bright because they’re willing to burn up all their free time trying to understand the material. Now, if you’re not lucky enough to get such a teacher and if your teacher doesn’t seem as serious with teaching, you will have to rely on practicing Chemistry on your own. You’ll have to bust out lots of practice problems and probe through review books like 5 Steps to Get a 5, Barron’s, etc.Is it impossible? Definitely not. Will it be hard? Difficult, yes.Is it worth your time? That’s for you to decide.

Feedbacks from Our Clients

I had purchased the program but It still couldn’t fix my problem on my iphone. I reached out to the customer service team and the experience was great. Rita was the one assisting me and she was being so understanding and helpful. She helped me with my refund process and I’m currently waiting for it to go back to the account (will update once I get it). I really appreciate her kindness and professionalism. I hope the program works on everyone though.
