What are the ten best things about living in Bangalore?

In addition to what Vivek Nagarajan has said -Bangalore is quite literally, the gateway to South India (including MH & Goa). It's central location makes it possible to travel to most places in its neighbouring states, with just an overnight or a 1-day journey (by bus, train). What Bangalore lacks for in terms of street food, vis-à-vis Mumbai or Delhi, it makes up for in terms of sheer variety of restaurants & cuisines. Hands down, Bangalore beats Mumbai, Delhi or any other Indian city when it comes to options for eating out. There are street food options as well. But of a different variety. And Bangalore is the Dosa Capital. No other place can beat it in this regard. Period.Despite a weekday "curfew", Bangalore is still the Pub City of India. The microbrewery phenomenon is another example of it. Other city-zens have often been seen complaining about lack of such options in their cities. It's central location, again, makes it easy to visit innumerable places around for the weekend. A wide variety of options & activities exist for those who want to head out of the city. For all the brickbats Bangalore gets for its traffic, the bottlenecks are more zonal (close to & around office spaces) & time-bound (usually, 5-8.30pm). I've seen worse traffic at non-peak hours in Mumbai.Although, only in terms of direct connectivity between 2 points in the city, the public transport may not be as efficient as a crowded Mumbai local or Delhi Metro, BMTC is still one of the best in the country. Quality of buses is unmatched. Both BMTC & KSRTC were the 1st to introduce Volvos, Mercedes-Benz buses and are among the only (I think?) profit making RTCs in India.2016 summer has been the worst ever & people have been complaining like it's a deliberate act on someone's part to make them feel unwelcome in this city. I find this very hypocritical, especially coming from those who hail from the 40°c+ or excessively humid areas. But come the rains and then we'll talk about how good or bad the weather is.Bangalore is a haven for movie buffs (in terms of variety, not ticket prices). Being a multilingual city, movies of so many languages get released here & across multiple screens, in fact. I regularly watch movies across 4 languages, something that I missed in Mumbai or Delhi, despite them being the "original" cosmopolitan cities. There is a vibrant theatre & stand-up comedy scene in Bangalore, plus avenues for other activities. For those interested in doing so, they can pick up linguistic skills in more than one language. I can speak fluently in 3 languages (one of it is my Mother tongue), in addition to English & Hindi and can manage passably in another language. And this is not acquired from attending some language classes. You can BUY houses at relatively much cheaper prices, than in Delhi or Mumbai. E.g :- Someone I know bought a 3-BHK Hiranandani apartment (1400+ sq.ft I think) here for about ₹1.3Cr. Mumbaikars, especially, will know what this means.Mumbai & Delhi are mostly full of just high rises. Bangalore still has more independent houses & spacious residential localities than it does apartments. A huge relief from the claustrophobia that ones feels when in Mumbai or Delhi. For those interested, this is the place to be, for startups. Enough said I guess.

How realistically viable are MRNA vaccines in treating autoimmune disorders?

Okay, the simplified synopsis of the original report in Nature gave me a headache, so I don’t recommend trying the actual report in Science. The highlights:VERY IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT THE COVID-19 mRNA VACCINE!!!!!!!!mRNA techniques used in a mouse model of multiple sclerosis (mMS)prevented mMS if given before inducing mMSdelayed onset and reduced symptoms of mMS in mice that already had the disease. You’ve probably heard of T-cells. They’re the disease-fighting cells of the immune system. What you might not be aware of is that there are different kinds of T-cells, which have different jobs. Autoimmune diseases happen when one type of T-cell, the autoreactive T-cell (ATC), gets out of control. Mostly, ATCs go nowhere: they’re killed off by other T-cells, called regulatory T-cells (RTC). But, for reasons that are not clear, sometimes the ATCs get away and run riot, attacking healthy tissue as if it was an antigen.Basically, this mRNA vaccine produces an antigen that is slightly different to the MS-related antigen. The ATCs can’t attack it because of the slight difference, and the RTCs suppress the ATCs. Result: no inflammation, no (or substantially reduced) MS symptoms. The idea is sound, and the results of the experiment are startlingly good.In mice. For a kind-of fake-MS.But, in theory, it should work for humans with real MS, and it should also work for at least some other autoimmune diseases, especially with early diagnosis. I suspect the effects would be significantly reduced in patients with a long history of autoimmune disease, where there’s been a lot of irreparable tissue damage - I doubt an anti-Hashimoto’s mRNA vaccine will re-grow my thyroid, for example. I’m not sure whether the technique would help with a hereditary autoimmune disease like coeliac disease, either. But if it could help people with MS, or lupus, or rheumatoid arthritis, where the only effective treatments are immunosuppressants? Bring it.

Comments from Our Customers

I had an issue with a purchase i made from CocoDoc, the issue arose when i purchased the wrong product. I contacted the support centre and raised the issue. My contact was Joanna. I explained what had happened and i was offered a full refund for the version i had mistakenly bought or a lifetime membership to the the version i had intended to buy. This customer service went above and beyond anything that i expected. I have been a customer of CocoDoc for several year and i will be for many more years. It was a pleasure to deal with Joanna and i would highly reccomend CocoDoc .
