Who are the new (first-time) Quora Top Writers that Quora picked for 2018, and what should we know about them?

Hey everyone! I’m a first-time writer from the USA, and am overjoyed to be a Top Writer for 2018. Extremely happy and honored, but quite puzzled as well.As an avid reader, I actively thought, discussed, and debated with friends and family. Writing was never my forte in high school or college. Essays were the bane of my existence and never had it even crossed my mind that I could write about the thoughts swimming inside my head. When I saw a few friends who started blogging, I was intrigued. Finally, I took interest in writing a couple years ago when I started keeping a daily journal and hesitantly began publishing on Medium.Recently, I challenged myself to write 100 consecutive days and rack up 1 million views. Quora is a great platform with an endless supply of topics and a wonderfully supportive community of readers. Although I didn’t get that 1 million views (I was close with around 760k!), I was hooked. What was initially supposed to be a 100 day love affair with Quora, became something more. I found writing fun and engaging. I never expected to say this, but I plan to keep contributing and creating content on this site. The interesting topics and prompts got me interested, but the community is making me stay.Beyond that, as a reader, I’ve just learned so much from others’ perspectives and life experiences. Different from other blogs or platforms, I feel as though Quora has given me a window into others’ lives, allowing me to learn and imagine so much more.A little about meI’m currently a student at the University of Michigan studying Computer Engineering. I’ll be graduating in 2 months and am pumped to start my full-time job as an Embedded Software Engineer at Qualcomm.I think a lot about engineering and technology’s role in our society. Societal impact through technology is broadly what I view as my work’s purpose. And I find the most fascinating way to enact that is through the combination of technology and public policy, and we see a lot of that in the works in industrial, automotive, and urban planning fields. If you’re interested in reading more about my thoughts on those, I’d appreciate a follow here on Quora or on Medium!Once again, thanks Quora!

How do I handle exam pressure and concentrate?

Hey! Thanks for A2AThe exam pressure greatly depends on how crucial is it for you. If there are high stakes then, it's quite obvious to get stressed and pressurized.1) Whenever you feel it's overpowering you while studying , stop studying for some time and listen to some music that is relaxing or completely stark, motivating. I used to do that. Whenever I used to get frustrated with piles of books, I used to switch over to some warrior epic dramatic instrumentals that used to pump me up again. :) I will give the links for those. (I won't recommend listening to heavy metal songs , or stuff like that , that has heavy lyrics and vocals but instead is purely instrumental).2) Write down your feelings : a close friend of mine suggested it. At first I felt it's a waste of time but venting out that built up anger and all other emotions helps a lot. You feel light all of a sudden. Though I am not a pen paper person , I use 'Journey' app on android to maintain my daily journal. It's nothing but the way you talk to your friend , you talk to your paper when you feel there is no one around to help you out.3) Don't give into it: Usually , at some point people snap out after dealing with pressure. Avoid giving up. Keep your goals/aims always pinned above your study desk or wherever you sit for studying. Always rethink whenever you feel like giving up that what consequences will follow if you decide to quit ? You will be motivated.4) Quotes : My all time rescue. Inspirational or heart breaking quotes made me feel every emotion that ran through me when I felt like stopping and giving up. They are just an amazing piece of work. 100 emotions and lessons cramped up into few lines. Isn't it wonderful ? Your liking may be different but I have an entire wall in my room filled with quotes. Whenever I feel sad or pressure gets to me, I give a quick glance at it. I get started again.I hope this helps. :)P.s links to the instrumental music channels : :)Epic Music World IIThePrimeCronusTrailer Music World IIGlitch Hop Community

What type of algebra does a pilot use? Do pilots ever need to factor polynomials and such? If they don’t, how do I politely tell my math teacher I won’t need this?

Dude, man, where do I even start. . .Think of it this way. If you’re asking about factoring polynomials, I assume you’re in 8th or 9th grade (ages 13–14), or close to it. I assume your school has sports teams, right? Why don’t you go ask your football coach why he makes his players do pushups, and lift weights in the gym, when they never use these on the field? I mean, I’ve never seen football players snap the ball, fade back, flop down on a bench and start pumping iron, right? I’ve never seen the quarterback score touchdowns by dropping at the goal line and giving the ref 20. So why should the players do those things if they’re never going to use them in the game? After the coach finishes laughing at you, he’ll probably say something like “pushups and weights build general physical strength and conditioning.”There’s your answer. And this is what many people who complain about education don’t get. Most of the things you’re learning at this stage of your education are not specific tasks you will have to do as part of your job. They will, however, build your mental strength and conditioning. Your job may never require you to factor polynomials—but it may well require you to be able to think about abstractions in a very clear and logical way. (If you become a pilot, you will certainly need to do this.) Your job may never require you to write five-paragraph essays—but it may well require you to organize your thoughts in a coherent and understandable fashion. Your job may never require you to explain poems—but it may well require you to look critically and carefully at the precise shades of meaning of words. And so on.So look at factoring polynomials like a football player looks at hitting the weight room. The aim of working out is not to get good at doing lateralis pull-downs or incline presses—nobody cares about that. The aim of working out is to develop strength and stamina. And that’s useful in a wide range of sports, jobs, and daily life. One other thing: With the rise of automation, I don’t know what the long-term job prospects for pilots are—but as computers get better and better, I don’t know how long it will be before they start seriously cutting into the number of jobs for pilots. If I’ve seen anything in almost 50 years, it’s that job after job has been swept away or redefined as technology improves. Hell, I’ve seen whole industries knocked arse over teakettle—journalism, publishing, music production. . .Don’t assume that you’re going to be a pilot. It’s possible that you won’t be good enough; it’s also possible that even if you are, you won’t be able to land a job by the time you’re old enough to fly. These days, you cannot, repeat cannot, assume you’ll have One Particular Job—the workplace is changing far too fast for that. The best you can do is not train for A Specific Job, but pick up a wide range of skills and aptitudes, practice your general powers of reasoning, and learn how to learn anything you might need, even if it seems irrelevant now.So go factor your polynomials and suck it up, buttercup. And thank your math teacher for making you get stronger. Good luck.

Decided I would not use the CocoDoc service often enough to justify the cost and cancelled during the 7 day free trial period. Usually cancelling a service during the free trial period takes a lot of effort & time. It took less than a minute to cancel the service once I spoke to a customer service representativ.
