I work in a government bank but not the SBI. So I can speak of my experience and I am assuming that SBI would follow the same procedure, more or less.First I was given a date and an address to get my documents verified. It usually is at the Regional or Zonal office. You need to have photocopies of all the documents. These are then arranged and submitted for verification. What happens in this step is that they check whether you have original documents that prove your identity, your education, your age and also if you have claimed caste or Ortho Challanged Quota then you need a document for that. All the documents are checked and photocopies of the same are kept for their record. Also any employment certificate and related NOC need to be submitted. Marks-sheet of 10 and 12 along with graduation degree are needed. Provisional degree is also OK but the date of graduation as printed on the degree should be before the cut off date as mentioned in the eligibility requirements. Medical certificates are to be made in a specific format and usually a Civil Surgeon has to attest it. Caste Certificate also is to be made in a specified format.You are also require to fill up a service bond (DO NOT KNOW THE DETAILS FOR SBI). Be ready to visit the nearest court or notary office and be ready to haggle for price and be ready to wait as almost everyone who is with you during the document verification would reach the same place and the guys over there that you have nowhere else to go so they jack up the rates and then you have to wait too. If possible contact the bank and know the details and format and have the bond already made at the time of document verification or try to beat the crowd and be the first to join the line at the notary. This step takes time.When you have the bond with you just submit it.There would be some forms to fill too like your NPS form. Oh! I just remembered. You have to fill in the date of passing in 10, 12, Grad, Post Grad etc. The date should be mentioned in the certificate itself.After your document verification you shall be given an address for medical exam. This is usually a path lab which has a tie-up with your bank or it could even be a hospital.What the do there is that they take your weight, blood sample, urine sample and your get an ECG. They are basically checking for STDs and Drugs and generally checking up on your health ie whether you are medically fit or not. They are not concerned if you are overweight or obese or colorblind or have had a cough or fever etc. Generally if you are fit to serve is what they are checking. This part takes a bit of time depending on the location and the number of persons. You can get an approx time and then come at that particular time if you like. This here is a medical facility and they are least concerned if you are from SBI or RBI or whatever. They have been told to conduct a certain number of tests and they do it as they do their routine testing. No special preferences or favors and no need to fear either. Usually the medical exam takes more than one day but it all depends on the city and the medical center. Also, usually the document verification takes place is phrases too because of the sheer volume of the candidates. I was given a range of dates to get my documents verified.I hope this helps.
