I won the brand new Jeep Cherokee when it was first out due to a work contest. I ended of selling over $30,000 dollars of gloves to do it too!Backstory:I was a salesman for a company called Fastenal. One of the top dollar salesmen in the northwest I might proudly add. The reason I was so high in sales wasn’t because I was necessarily an awesome salesman, but it was because I had a few really big customers I had spent years cultivating a relationship with and they trusted me with literally almost any order they had in consumables for their production lines.I went to a vendor meeting (basically where different brands try to convince you to sell their products to your customers) and met a rep for the MCR brand of safety gear. I actually met several different reps and they were all offering prizes if we sold a certain amount of their product in a months time. Most of them offered things like a free headset of headphones or things similar. Nice things but nothing to run a victory lap about. However, the MCR rep had two things that made me sit up and pay attention.They were selling a new cut resistant safety glove that was a bright safety orange. Hideous to look at but very easy to see.They were going to be giving a Jeep Cherokee away to the person who could show the highest growth in sales percentage on their safety line of gloves.So when they showed us the glove, I remembered on of my customers was using a cut resistant glove that their employees wore on their production line for safety that looked similar to this:They were having problems with the employees actually wearing them. The employees hated them because it made working with parts awkward. Even if the gloves were protecting them it was annoying to them. A week before I went to this vendor meeting, the safety department had mentioned to me their problem in passing asking me if I had any ideas. The new glove MCR was offering could potentially solve this problem. It was so bright and annoying that a Safety inspector could just look down a line of production and immediately see who was or was not wearing gloves! The gloves looked like this:In order to win, I had to have the most PERCENTAGE growth in sales of MCR safety products. NOT THE HIGHEST DOLLAR SALES!I sold about $10,000 a month in cut resistant gloves to my customer already. I had to make sure that they weren’t MCR brand. So in the middle of the meeting I texted my boss and had him double check the brand we were currently selling. It was not MCR. It was a competitor.Check 1 passed!I then texted a picture of the new gloves to the safety lady who ran everything at this plant. I then offered my proposed solution. She loved it and said she wanted to switch the entire plant over to this new glove. I had just sold every single person at least one pair of the new glove before I even left the meeting.So I went from selling roughly around $600 a month of MCR products a month to this customer to a final order tally at the end of the month of around $35,000 (the number was so high because they basically threw out all their other cut resistant gloves and bought every single person in the plant around 1 or two pairs each to start. Then of course regular consumption stacked on top of that added to the high dollar amount). I was pretty much hated by every single employee on the production line because of how ugly the gloves looked, but they all got over it. Safety loved it because they could now see easily who was complying to safety rules. And when the dust settled I ended up with the top growth percentage in the entire USA for MCR that month.The only competition I had was from another store in California who was already selling MCR gloves to an Amazon plant. I think they sold around $20,000 a month in MCR, they ended up getting their total sales to around $60,000 for that month, but the percentage growth was not near as high as mine. The key factor in the competition was percentage growth not total sales.I smoked them.I won the jeep Cherokee and held onto it for a month, then I turned around and sold it back to the same dealer I got it from for cash. I used that cash towards my honeymoon (I was getting married around that time) and used the leftover as a down payment to purchase my house and was quite pleased about it (not to mention my wife was pretty happy about it as well).

My Chemical Romance used to be abbreviated as MCR, however, last fall, upon the 10 year anniversary of the Black Parade, they announced that there'd be a CD with some releases of songs that never made it, etc. X is the Roman number for 10. I don't believe MCRX is used as describing the band, but rather that CD in particular.Why is My [C]hemical Romance abbricated as MCR[X] rather than MCR?
