PDF Editor FAQ

Working in canary wharf and looking to buy first home. What’s the ideal location that is safe and decent around London that will have commute of an hr or less?

As someone who’s spent the last 5 years bouncing around Southeast London (and who has recently bought a first home there), I’ll chip in with a few suggestions. I’m sure that plenty of people will respond with a whole heap of good locations, but these are some places I have experience with:Blackheath (~30 minutes from Blackheath Station to Canary Wharf)Despite having a bit of a village feel to it, Blackheath is very well connected. Trains run every 5 minutes or so at peak times, and it’ll take about half an hour to get to Canary Wharf. If you live on the North edge of The Heath, you can even walk down into Greenwich and get the DLR from there (about 10 minutes on the DLR). Blackheath is very green, with the large heath from which it gets its name bordering the also-large Greenwich Park, with spectacular views over London. It doesn’t come cheap though - houses start at about 500k–600k, flats at about 400k, and they can both get much more expensive than that.Hither Green (~30 minutes to Canary Wharf)Tucked away inside a set of 4 A-roads, Hither Green is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s got a real community feel to it; when I lived there we knew and got on well with a lot of our neighbours - not something that’s too common in London! Like Blackheath, property doesn’t come cheap - flats start at about 300k and houses at about 500k.Eltham (~40 minutes to Canary Wharf)We’re getting a bit further out now, but still easily within 1 hour door-to-door. Eltham has a bit of a bad reputation, largely because of the tragic murder of Stephen Lawrence in 1993. From what I understand, this reputation was fairly well-deserved 25 years ago, but things have come a long way since then. Eltham has slightly less going on than Blackheath or Hither Green, but there are still plenty of places to eat/drink/play on and around its high street. The prices are a lot more reasonable here, with houses starting at about 300–350k, and flats starting from 200–250k.New Cross/Deptford (~10 minutes to Canary Wharf)If the other 3 were a bit far out, then New Cross and Deptford may offer something more right for you. Home to Goldsmiths’ College, the area is a hotspot for the nearby art students. There are loads of cafes, good coffee, music venues, pubs, independent shops. However being more central, space is at even more of a premium than the above locations - expect to pay >350k for a flat, or >600k for a house, and to not be given a huge amount of space for that price.Hope that helps! Happy to answer questions if you have any.

Feedbacks from Our Clients

I like the convenience of sending out documents for electronic signatures to multiple approvals, and who needs to sign first, second, etc. They like it because it is easy to read thru whole document packages on the screen and signing is easy.
