Is Marine Infantry really all that better? It depends on the mission. For some mission profiles, Army Infantry might actually be better equiped and psychologically better suited. For other types of operations, I think Marine Infantry has a decided advantage.In holding ground, or doing insurgency suppression, the Army might be better suited. They have a better logistical and support apparatus. It's more in depth and better funded. The Army is also much more methodical in the way it operates.Marine Infantry, on the other hand is much more versatile, much more adaptive, and better able to cope with changing circumstances and obsticles. That's the hallmark of Marine Corps Infantry vs Army Infantry.The Marine Infantry ethos is also much more aggressive. You can make of that what you will. There are of course circumstances where that hyper-aggressive attitude might be a liability (ie Haditha). Marines can make pretty piss poor occupation and counter insurgency troops. But for aggressive fast moving, hard hitting operations against difficult targets the Marine Corps has few peers.
