Subramanian Swamy is a theoretical wonder. He and his economic theories are not practically implemented even at Panchayat levels. It is like bringing Harsha Bhogle to play for India because he knows a lot of technical things about batting as well as bowling.Swamy is not a team member. He's a loose cannon. He can fire any which way. Such people cannot be trusted in governance.Swamy has history of betraying both BJP and RSS. He had famously joined hands with Sonia Gandhi and Jayalalithaa to bring down Vajpayee government due to sheer jealousy. BJP won't forget it so easily.Swamy was from the RSS background. Yet, he wrote pretty harsh and biased articles against RSS when Vajpayee was PM. He even advocated ban on RSS. Even RSS won't forget easily.So why did Swamy go against BJP and RSS ? Atal Bihari Vajapayee was not comfortable with Swamy's ways of politics. He was always into building his own brand and wanted to be Finance Minister. Such overtly ambitious people aren't trusted in the Sangh Pariwar. That's why he was sidelined. Swamy held Vajapayee responsible for this and joined hands with every possible opponent to bring down Vajapayee. Naturally, he was sidelined.Now, why did Swamy come back to Sangh Pariwar ? Sonia Gandhi used Swamy to bring down Vajapayee government. Once that done, she religiously avoided him. When UPA came to power, he expected Sonia to reward him. Instead, Pranab Mukherjee and subsequently Chidambaram got the Finance portfolio. Swamy felt ditched. From then, he became a vicious enemy of Sonia family.All these years, Swamy has been vicious against all Finance Ministers, be it Chidambaram, Arun Jaitley or now Nirmala Seetharaman because he believes he deserves to be in that position and has been denied his rightful place. Swamy developed a rapport with Modi because he foresaw the rise of Modi after Advani failed to enthuse voters in 2009.Modi understands Swamy can be useful to fight the dirty battles against common opponents. But Modi also knows Swamy cannot be trusted as a General inside the government. With the doors shut on him at 10, Janpath, with his inability to win even a Panchayat seat on his own, Swamy is a paper tiger. He can bark but cannot bite. And with RSS / BJP deciding to bring the 75 year age bar for holding public office, Swamy automatically became ineligible in 2014 itself.So, Subramanian Swamy never became Finance Minister because he never deserved to. Only Modi knows how to handle him and keep him at bay.
