Where in ASP.NET MVC 4 does the business logic go?

So what is Business Logic? The business logic are the set of codes in your application that handles communication between an end user interface and a database.In ASP.NET MVC your business logic will contain your domain models (entities), database context class, Repositories, services etc.What i would normally do and what i advice you to do is to create a separate Class Library project for your application’s business logic.So, the business logic should go in a separate library project and then reference it in your main MVC application.At the most basic level, you need a domain models, context class and the services:The Domain folder contains the domain models (classes) which are representations of all the objects within the domain of your application and the relationships between them (also like the different tables required in your database). i.e so a school domain model will for example represent the students, teachers, subjects, class, & grades, and how all these things are related to each other.The Context folder contains the class that serves as the intermediary between you domain model and your Object relational mapper(ORM) (e.g Entity framework). in this folder, a school application will require a ‘SchoolContext’ class.The Services folder containers the classes that mediates communication between a controllers and database/domain model/ORM context class. For our school application a ‘StudentService’ will look like →public class StudentService {  public IEnumerable<Student> Get()  {  //Retrieve list of student from Database  }   public void Add(Student student)  {  //Add Student to database  }   public void Edit(Student student)  {  //Edit student information  }   public void Delete(Student student)  {  //Delete student from database  } }

What is ORM? How is it helpful for handling back-end processes? Can we even do PHP coding using ORM?

From Wikipedia:Object-relational mapping (ORM, O/RM, and O/R mapping tool) in computer science is a programming technique for converting data between incompatible type systems using object-oriented programming languages. This creates, in effect, a "virtual object database" that can be used from within the programming language.To put it simply, ORMs allow you to write code describing the structure of the database you want, such as tables and columns within it and datatypes for those, and it will be converted to the actual DB tables and columns accordingly. ORM comes as a set of Classes of Wrappers that you can invoke. All you need to do is configure the ORM to connect to the DB engine via the configuration it asks you to set. The ORM then provides you functions above the DB such as inserting or retrieving items, searching and sorting, deleting etc. without having to write any SQL. This helps developers to focus on the business logic rather than the underlying DB or SQL.For example: If you are working on a school database, you can have a Class called as ‘Student’, that extends an ORM Class, and the properties become the Class variables.PHP has ORM libraries that you can use with your applications. Doctrine is one such. It can be a bit of a steep learning curve however, to get around ORMs.

What schools accepted/rejected you (April 2020)?

I applied to 14 schools and this admission process/decision cycle really made me rethink who I was, how I set my expectations, and how weak my ego is. For context, I’m a female ORM from Texas and I go to a highly competitive public high school.INFO:Stats:GPA: 100.3/100 (weighted), 3.83/4.0 (unweighted)Rank: Top 5%ACT: 34 (breakdown: 31,34,35,35) (honestly, my standardized test scores are pretty low, the one thing I regret is not taking the ACT a second time)SAT II: US History (760/800), Biology Molecular (750/800)Courses:AP Computer Science (4), AP Psychology (4), AP Human Geography (5), AP World History (5), AP Biology (4), AP US History (5), AP Language (4), AP Chemistry (4), AP Physics I (4), AP Calculus BC (4), AP Environmental Science, AP Principles of Computer Science + a bunch of honors classesSenior courses: Multivariable calculus, Organic chemistry, AP Literature, AP Latin, AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP ChineseExtracurricularsNothing extraordinary. I was active all four years in my debate club, Latin club, dance team, and community service groups.Leadership: Executive medical liaison at a student-led cancer non-profit (Sr), President of Latin Honor Society (Sr), VP of Junior Classical League (Sr), Co-founder/ coach for a local middle school’s Speech and Debate team, Historian/ Debate workshop leader for the Speech and Debate Team (Sr), Regional Coordinator for a women empowerment organization called Beyond Resolved (Sr), Secretary of Junior Classical League (Jr), Treasurer for Student Council (Fr)Competitions: Lots of regional awards. Qualified to the state level for every extracurricular I was in. National level for dance (won some national awards) (but I don’t know how prestigious that is because you don’t really need to qualify lol)Community Service: A bunch of hours…. lolResearch: I researched at a T20 biochemistry lab for about a year. I wrote an abstract and delivered a presentation but didn’t publish anything. (Commuting almost daily from school to the university was a pain lmao)EssaysI thought they were pretty well written, not extremely creative or quirky though. I wrote about all my accomplishments as a leader for debate and Latin.RecommendationsI think I had strong rec letters? I’m almost sure my Latin teacher that I had all four years wrote a good one. Not very certain about my chemistry teacher or my school counselor (I go to a big public school so the counselor didn’t know me at all). I also got a supplementary rec from my research PI who is a professor at a T20 school.I feel like I spent my high school career ticking off checkboxes for my resume and not doing my extracurriculars for the right reason :/. Overall, I’m not an outstanding applicant or anything of an extraordinary nature, but I believe that I had a relatively strong application so I only applied to one safety and many reaches. This is another decision that I regret. I should have applied to more safeties/matches or small liberal arts schools.DecisionsUT Austin- Accepted (I was auto-admit because of my rank)Northwestern (ED)- Deferred, Rejected. (Felt extremely bummed about this decision but it is what it is)Brown- RejectedCornell- RejectedUPenn- RejectedDuke- RejectedJohns Hopkins- RejectedRice- Rejected (Researched here but I guess even a rec from a Rice professor didn’t really work)WashU- RejectedGeorgetown- RejectedEmory- WaitlistedDartmouth- WaitlistedVanderbilt- WaitlistedBarnard- Waitlisted. (Top top top choice. I’m praying that I would get off)So basically I got rejected from all the schools I applied to (minus my UT but I knew I would definitely get in since junior year). I’m happy that I had such a great safety school under me and I am excited to start anew at Austin. I had heard nothing but great things about UT so I am incredibly grateful. But at the same time, I couldn’t help but think about the what-ifs. I had always imagined myself studying at a small private college out of state and UT is the total opposite of that. What if I applied to more colleges? What if I spent more time on my supplementals? What if I had higher stats? But at the end of the day, I know self-pitying and regretting will do nothing but hurt me even more and I know everything happens for a reason. So for those applying next cycle, start your applications early and apply to a good amount of matches so that you don’t end up with all rejections like me.
