PDF Editor FAQ

What is Mark Manson's view on the red pill philosophy?

Disclaimer: I am not officially or professionally affiliated with Mark Manson in any shape or form, I only speak as a big fan of his work. I am also a minor past 'victim' of TRP philosophy (although have some sympathies with the MRM) and then chose to stay to explore the workings of the community. This is a sample of the conclusions I've reached from being there. If we're talking about Reddit's The Red Pill and the broader Manosphere, Mark is against it for numerous reasons summarised by Maria. It contradicts the majority of points in his widely acclaimed book Models: Attract Women with Honesty. I'd definitely recommend you give it a look, but if that's not an option or you'd rather not, then these 2 articles by Mark seem to sum up his primary criticisms with TRP and PUA at largea) Vulnerability and Manipulative Women (or, Vulnerability and Avoiding Manipulative Relationships)b) http://markmanson.net/content/PDFs/Butchering_The_Alpha_Male.pdfTo try and summarise a 200+ page critique in a few paragraphs (I'll write a tl;dr at the bottom very soon guys, promise):The first thing Mark discusses is the difference between True Confidence (Vulnerability), and Neediness. True Confidence involves being able to directly express who you are and what you want from people, without fearing rejection, including waling away if they disrespect your values or boundaries. The latter comes in two basic forms:i) Nice Guys, who never state their attraction to a woman but instead act as friends, because they're needy for their approval, andii) False Confidence, or being aggressive and disrespecting people's boundaries in order to hide your need for their approval.Nice Guy Syndrome is basically a deep-seated form of insecurity resembling co-dependency and toxic shame, usually entangled with mommy issues, childhood bullying, neglect or the converse, helicopter parenting (smothering). Various social and gender theorists have speculated on where it comes from; feminists claim it's toxic masculinity, the male gaze/objectification and male entitlement complex i.e. male privilege, hence Nice GuysTM; anti-feminists claim that it's shitty parenting skills and the collapse of the nuclear family unit thanks to no-fault divorce, redpillers claim that it's the divorce and immature single mothers. The exact reasons don't matter for why men become Nice Guys, and it can in fact be gender neutral (there are Nice Girls, mainly borderlines and co-dependents). What does matter is to understand (in brief) that it results in all sorts of dysfunctional behavioural patterns in relationships, especially for Nice Guys with women. These include: being very needy, passivity, people-pleasing, being unable to say No or hold boundaries, total or significant sexual repression. This results in: covert contracts (i.e. do things to get approval, in the case of dating treat women well to get them to sleep with you), the victim mentality associated with seeing yourself as a helpless abandoned child, possibly manipulation, passive-aggression, etc. For more info on Nice Guy Syndrome, check out Robert Glover's book No More Mr Nice Guy.So, Redpill reads to a recovering Nice Guy as a guide to be a sexy player, they even call him 'Chad' like some generic American high school jock, or 'Alpha Fucks'. (There is a second type of Alpha male ideal, the Apex Alpha or 'Alpha Bucks' but this is basically cartoonish caricatures of successful men like Christian Grey and rich ripped celebrities.) It's basically a massive male power fantasy for these guys a la superheroes. The goal is to be a confident, non-needy man who gets laid, but inevitably beginners are really socially awkward and creepy, some even being on the autistic spectrum and genuinely struggling with social cues. This results in a lot of young inexperienced guys going out and acting as assholes and, in some horrible cases, abusive, to girls they're interested in or even their long-term SOs, in their quest to be 'dominant'. The Reddit community encourages this too, through crap such as the perpetual 'anger phase.Long story short Mark is super pissed off with this misinterpretation. RP Chad is the EXACT sort of annoying aggressive douchebag that he recommended against. So I imagine he's face-palming.I don't know whether this was subtle dig at TRP without risking libel for slander, but in 'Butchering the Alpha Male' linked above, Mark demonstrates through hypothetical scenarios how the PUA 'alpha/beta' paradigm is flawed. It's wrong only on the scientific level, but as a heuristic with which to attempt to attract people (not just women) and engage in relationships, platonic or otherwise.2. Secondly, Mark discusses 'polarisation' and 'demographics'. The concept is very simple; like attracts like, if you want a hottie, you have to become a hottie, and hang out where the hotties are. HOW you do so is up to you. Will you work out and get jacked? Will you become a rock star? Will you bake the finest hot chocolate fudge brownies the world has ever had the honour of tasting? Will you read and review a book a day for the next 5 years? Whatever you choose, that is who you are likely to attract. If you are a gym rat, you'll probably attract a gym bunny; if you're a music man and never exercise, you'd probably be better going to a gig and getting to know women into your type of music, or better yet show them instruments you play/your band. It's an imperfect heuristic, but it is better than Redpill's by miles. This includes values. One of the key points of Models is: your lifestyle reflects your values. If you value looks, and little else matters, you'll attract similarly shallow people (women). If you value intelligence, you'll attract people who are intelligent-but not necessarily physically attractive. If you value a sense of humour…and so on. But going back to the first point; if you want high value in this area of your life, you have to become it and become totally confident in it. You have to put in the work. What happens when you don't put in the work? You attract similarly 'low quality' people. If you are selfish, you'll meet selfish people. If you're lazy, you'll attract lazy people. Etc.Mark comes from the PUA community, he's spent a lot of time dealing with men paranoid about 'handling shit tests' from women. The bottom line of hanging in the community too long is to leave scarred by the belief that women are fundamentally manipulative and untrustworthy, due to dealing with game-playing women in the hookup scene. Mark says that, as you attract what you do, so you attract what you believe...The problem is, TRP has a heuristic called AWALT, or All Women Are Like That. The gist of it is due to 'hypergamy' (incorrectly used) and other immutable biological factors of being 'female', women are condemned to act in certain ways to execute their 'sexual strategy' (defined as Alpha Fucks: Beta Bucks-> have sex with alphas when young, seek out betas to start a family with [protection/provision] when getting older. There's discussion of ovulation cycles too, which there is some evidence for (fertile women prefer masculine men with high testosterone when ovulating, and low testosterone men with feminine faces when on their period. Research shows that fathers' testosterone drops when they become dads too. Can cite sources if you wish.) MRAs say this can change, and it's a result of the societal 'pussy pass' (women getting a free pass for, uh, being women, a victim class…) Redpillers don't, they say that is how women are, and when you suspect a woman is not (NAWALT) it's better to be safe than sorry (treat all guns as loaded.) The big names write long lectures on how men cannot be unconditionally loved by women they sleep with, and it compromises attraction to be vulnerable to them, to the extent she might regard you as a son. I personally see this as projection of a Madonna/Whore complex and the dysfunction of their own needy, co-dependent tendencies. You can imagine what happens when a whole community of disenfranchised angry men start believing that women are these manipulative, heartless, shallow, narcissistic, gold-digging bitches, constantly seeking to 'trade up' their partners without any empathy or remorse, who you can never open up to without dealing with a dead bedrooms, cheating, cukoldry or divorce. (A hyperbolic reading of red pill theory to be honest, but you get the idea.) They attract women who are either just terrible trashy people with terribly shallow values, or have serious mental health issues, including it seems, Cluster B Perosnality Disorders such as NPD, BPD and HPD, as well as co-dependency, anxiety disorder or depression. Finally, they attract young women with daddy issues, possibly conditioned to normalise abuse through being a victim for too long. The is honestly just a recipe for hurt, when the guy thinks he has a choice between manipulating or being manipulated.3. The pseudoscience. It would not be fair to say Mark entirely rejects the basic gist of Redpill pickup. He's a regular on Reddit's old seduction community, Seddit. If you read between the lines, Mark agrees with the concept of 'hypergamy' as used by RP, but disagrees that it's got anything to do with wealth, status or even looks, he believes it's basically to do with demonstrating high status behaviour, i.e. confidence (defined by lack of neediness, as described below) and 'masculinity'. That's because TRP is an evolution (some would say devolution) of PUA, with some MRA grievances, Alt-Right/Dark Enlightenment/libertarian apocalyptic theories and wannabe Dark Triad extremist ideas bordering or rape apologism lathered over the top. There is some evolutionary psychology in there, the 'bio-truths', but it's lost in the madhouse. Mark's book, on the other hand, is inspired by genuine scientific journals and theses on human mating, such as David Buss' Evolution of Desire and Matt Ridley's The Red Queen. To summarise, this revolves around parental investment theory, what RP incorrectly terms 'hypergamy'. Wikiquote> Parental investment (PI), in evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology, is any parental expenditure (time, energy etc.) that benefits one offspring at a cost to parents' ability to invest in other components of fitness,[1][2] and is thus a form of sexual selection. Components of fitness[3] include the wellbeing of existing offspring, parents' future sexual reproduction, and inclusive fitness through aid to kin.[4] Parental investment may be performed by both the male and female (biparental care), the mother alone (exclusive maternal care) or the father alone (exclusive paternal care).Parental investmentIn practice, a female who has to invest a large proportion of parental expenditure to benefit their offspring at the expense of other components of their fitness, is less likely to wish to mate. Casual sex is known as polygamy, and younger, higher testosterone men are more likely to pursue polygamy than provide their own parental investment, i.e. reduce the cost of a female engaging in mating. In layman terms, this means that women have a higher standard for the 'genetic potential' or basically physical hotness of men they have casual sex with, because there is no parenting offer. (It's assumed that our pre-rational minds are not yet aware of birth control, a truly revolutionary invention.) We see this on the social level in bitterness about players who 'pump and dump', 'deadbeat dads' and so forth; it's also a major reason for child support in the US.Women also have adapted a 'vaginal rape protection mechanism', where the clitoris cannot get fully aroused without the female feeling fully secure. (Sources available on request)Mark is speculating here, but his theory is that women seek out attractive healthy men who demonstrate potential for being wealthy and high status, who are extremely attracted and aroused by the woman in question and express vulnerability (but not neediness) to her. He calls this 'high status behaviour', or True Confidence as described above. He argues that high status behaviour is attractive because it signals these men are in the future most likely to protect and provide the most adequate resources for her to offset the cost of her parental investment with a child he sired. With regards to making her feel secure, the idea is that a man who makes himself vulnerable to her is in a way expressing parental investment-willingness to be a father to her child. Likewise, a man who is not needy and can walk away, has demonstrated that his duties in investing outweigh his neediness to..get laid (he's unlikely to cheat or abandon her).TRP is totally against parental investment, because it regards demonstrating father/husband potential to women as a one-way ticket to 'beta provider' or 'beta bux' status, and an unhappy marriage where your wife dominates and whips you before 'divorce raping' you or using you as a cuckold while sleeping with 'Chad'. It's basically a guide on how to do well in he contemporary casual hookup scene, and the paranoia is pretty ridiculous by my anxiety-ridden standards. (Married Red Pill and its Manosphere offshoots are a little more interested in being good dads, many of them having kids, but it's clear that they still, really badly, care about sex.) So basically TRP is a forum devoted to helping unattractive, socially awkward Nice Guys recover from their insecurity by emulating the players and getting casual sex with hot young women…when there is a host of research to show how women are much, much more picky about who they hook up with than settle for a relationship/marriage with…yeah. On top of this, until around summer of last year, TRP did not care for creating comfort or security in women. It was of the opinion that the 'betas' joining were already too high in beta comfort traits, and needed to up the 'alpha' or attraction/seduction, which involved aggression and dominance. Going back to what I originally said-this aggression and dominance comes across by an amateur practicing TRP as rapey and threatening in an intimate setting where feeling safe is imperative, and there are some problematic attitudes towards rape espoused on the subreddit, such as 'overcoming Last Minute Resistance.'4. Finally, I guess that the just generally dehumanising attitude towards women, part of a broader overly systemic approach to romance and human emotions completely devoid of trust, is off-putting to even an experienced player like Mark.tl;drTRP's version of Alpha Chad is Mark's version of False Confidence. An insecure guy covering it up by being a loud, arrogant, aggressive, cocky faux-narcissistic-sociopath, stomping all over people's boundaries i.e. just generally douchey asshole. Because it's easier to put others down than legitimately build yourself up and explore your need for external validation.Mark says, "If everyone you date is a piece of shit, check under your shoe kid. Look in the mirror." He also says, "Don't play childish mind games with immature manipulative women. Walk away, don't put up with the bullshit." TRP says, "No! All Women Are Like That! They can't help it, it's in their nature! It's up to you to hold frame and be more Alpha to keep her tingles!" This leaves the man feeling persecuted, bitter and victimised, resulting in anger, control issues, and both parties stuck in a miserable, cycle of drama, childish power plays and mind games...possibly even co-dependency and abuse. I.e. encourages really bad taste in women, at best incompatible couples, at worst toxic and abusive dynamics.Crappy science. Mark points out how much easier it is for the average guy to attract women by giving them the hope that they're in it for the long haul (parental investment theory) and TRP does the complete opposite, which just makes them come across as potential rapists.TRP claiming that the primary solution to being attractive is superficial stuff like Looks Money Status, rather than identifying and plucking out self-limiting and toxic beliefs. Indirectly leaving the Nice Guy continuing to feel helpless and controlled by external forces, rather than with agency to change his reality. I.e. external locus of control, victim mentality/persecution complex. This despite demanding 'burden of performance' and male hyper-agency.Generally encourages needless paranoia, pain and tension/friction in already insecure, vulnerable men and/or otherwise happy couples. To finish on one of my favourite quotes from the book: "There's a reason why Nice Guys keep finding themselves with narcissistic drama queens. They're a good match."Hope this helps you understand that, in short, Mark would indeed be very pissed off by Red Pill philosophy and the damage it can do to relationships. :)

Which Hollywood movies must one watch?

Here's a fairly simple list of movies from the last century that we think should be on every Hollywood buff's to-watch list. In no particular order, here are 100 of the best of the lot that you absolutely should watch if you haven't.The Dark KnightDirector :- Christopher NolanCast :- Christian Bale, Heath LedgerChristopher Nolan didn’t set out to make sequels. As the director of hit thrillers like Memento and Insomnia, his personal style never seemed to mesh with the idea of helming a mega-franchise. After re-envisioning the Caped Crusader with 2005’s Batman Begins, though, Nolan couldn’t stop thinking about how his version of Batman would respond to the introduction of The Joker. The result was The Dark Knight, a hyper-real exploration of how chaos shakes up the mission of the righteous, complete with huge stars, incredible stunts, and an Oscar-winning performance by the late Heath Ledger.2. Forrest GumpDirector :- Robert ZemeckisCast :- Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary SiniseIn 1994, the Oscar-winning film starring Tom Hanks as a lovable lummox named Forrest Gump became a box office behemoth (almost $1 billion worldwide in today’s dollars). It entered the name “Forrest Gump” into the zeitgeist, and generated the simile catchphrase, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are gonna get”.3. The Usual SuspectsDirector :- Bryan SingerCast :- Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary SiniseWho is Keyser Söze? It’s the mystery that drives 1995’s The Usual Suspects, until all is revealed — or is it? — in the film’s iconic final scene. In the two decades since Bryan Singer’s modern noir classic premiered, that ending has become a pop culture touchstone, inspiring countless parodies and imitators.Five criminals meet during a routine police line-up. Upon their release, they planto pull off a dangerous heist involving precious emeralds worth three million dollars.A marvelous performance has been given by Kevin Spacey in this movie. It won Oscars in 2 categories and Kevin bagged the award for the “Best Actor In The Supporting Role”.4. The Shawshank RedemptionDirector :- Frank DarabontCast :- Tim Robbins, Morgan FreemanAlmost 23 years ago, a film titled ‘The Shawshank Redemption' hit theatersthroughout the world just to become the highest rated film ever by viewers on IMDb, years later. The film outperformed some of the best films of all time including ‘The Godfather', ‘The Dark Knight', '12 Angry Men' and ‘Schindler's List'. It was almost after two decades when people understood a simple fact behind the film's immense popularity – they somewhere identified their own selves in the film's screenplay. ‘The Shawshank Redemption' became the most cited example to make others believe that “faith can move mountains”.A period-prison film became a worldwide phenomenon. The impact of the film didn't even spare Nobel Prize winner Nelson Mandela who absolutely loved the film. On the other hand, when the script was presented to actor Morgan Freeman, he called it one of the best scripts of all time. Little did he know by then, that his heavy narrative in the film, would become his identity for the rest of his life. The movie has been set during 1947, the time following the end of World War II. During this era, the idea of existentialism came into its origin which insisted on the fact that each individual—not society or religion—is solely responsible for giving meaning to life and living it passionately and sincerely, or authentically. ‘The Shawshank Redemption' not only succeeds in sharing the belief that the virtue of freedom is the basic human need but also emphasized on the biggest power we humans are born with – the power of hope.5. Schindler’s ListDirector :- Steven SpielbergCast :- Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Ben KingsleyIn 1993, Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List brought to the screen a story that had gone untold since the tragic events of the Holocaust. Oskar Schindler, a Nazi party member, used his pull within the party to save the lives of over 1000 Jews by recruiting them to work in his Polish factory. In this movie the stellar performance of Liam Neeson has moved the people. Ralph Fiennes has portrayed a dark negative character of “Amon Goeth”It won 7 Academy and 3 Golden Globe Awards.6. Saving Private RyanDirector :- Steven SpielbergCast :- Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Edward Burns, Tom Size, Vin DieselSaving Private Ryan is a 1998 American epic war drama film set during the Invasion of Normandy in World War II. Directed by Steven Spielberg and writtenby Robert Rodat, the film is notable for its graphic portrayal of war, and for the intensity of its opening 27 minutes, which includes a depiction of the Omaha Beach assault during the Normandy landings. It follows United States Army Rangers Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks) and a squad (Tom Sizemore, Edward Burns, Barry Pepper, Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel, Adam Goldberg, and Jeremy Davies) as they search for a paratrooper, Private First Class James Francis Ryan (Matt Damon), who is the last-surviving brother of four servicemen. The movie is actually based on the Niland brothers, four siblings who all servedin the US Army during World War II. Three brothers—Robert, Preston, and Edward—were supposedly killed in action, which caused their remaining brother, Fritz (whom the titular Private Ryan was based on) to be shipped back to America so that the Niland family wouldn’t lose all of their sons. Edward, who was originally thought dead, was actually found alive after escaping a Japanese prison camp in Burma, making two surviving brothers out of the four who fought in the war.The film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, and won five including Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Film Editing, and Best Director for Spielberg, but lost the Best Picture award to Shakespeare in Love, being one of a few that have won the Best Director award without also winning Best Picture.7. The Godfather Part IIDirector :- Francis Ford CoppolaCast :- Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia ShireThis movie is way to be good to be labelled a sequel to The Godfather . Rather it is more of a companion piece to the original and the two perfectly compliment each other . IT is both a sequel and prequel showing the rise of the young vito and moral decline of Micheal . Both characters are brought to life with uncanny ability by Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino . To say that these two are good actors is like saying that a nuclear bomb makes a loud noise and in this movie they prove why they are at the top of their respective crafts.Al Pacino is the standout in the ensemble cast and its amazing how his eyes have changed from the first part . They are now cold , ruthless and unemotional and betray the price which Micheal Corleone has paid for power .A sprawling three-hour-and-twenty-minute American epic crime film, what can you say about Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather Part II” that hasn’t already been said? Nominated for 11 Academy Awards and winning 6, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Robert De Niro,“The Godfather Part II” was met with tremendous critical acclaim with many proclaiming it had outdone its predecessor. Award-wise, it had. The original had also bagged eleven nominations, but won only three.Watch this movie and learn why it is the greatest gangster film of all time.8. PsychoDirector :- Alfred HitchcockCast :- Anthony Perkins, Janet LeighArguably the best-known film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, released in 1960. Psycho has become one of the most recognizable films in cinema history, and is arguably Hitchcock's best known film. In his novel, Bloch used an uncommon plot structure: he repeatedly introduced sympathetic protagonists, then killed them off. This played on his reader's expectations of traditional plots, leaving them uncertain and anxious. Hitchcock recognized the effect this approach could have on audiences, and utilized it in his adaptation, killing off Leigh's character at the end of the first act. This daring plot device, coupled with the fact that the character was played by the biggest box-office name in the film, was a shocking turn of events in 1960.The most original and influential moment in the film is the "shower scene", which became iconic in pop culture because it is often regarded as one of the most terrifying scenes ever filmed. Part of its effectiveness was due to the use of startling editing techniques borrowed from the Soviet montage filmmakers and to the iconic screeching violins in Bernard Herrmann's musical score. The story, adapted by Hitchcock and screenwriter Joseph Stefano from Robert Bloch's novel of the same name published the year before, has not one but two major plot twists; at the time, Hitchcock went to great lengths to keep them secret (including an ad pleading, "Don't give away the ending—it's the only one we have"), but these days, most people know about both thanks to Pop-Cultural Osmosis, even if they know nothing else about the film.9. Pulp FictionDirector :- Quentin TarantinoCast :- John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Ving RhamesWhat Quentin Tarantino did with this world renowned crime film, no American director of crime film could ever achieve in the film history. With non linear story telling technique, use of cinematic allusions and popular cultural references of contemporary and past time the film became instantly acclaimed all over the world and won Palm d'Or in Cannes Film Festival.Pulp Fiction connects the intersecting storylines of Los Angeles mobsters, fringe players, small-time criminals, and a mysterious briefcase. The film's title refers to the pulp magazines and hard-boiled crime novels popular during the mid-20th century, known for their graphic violence and punchy dialogue.10. Silence Of the LambsDirector :- Jonathan DemmeCast :- Jodie Foster, Anthony HopkinsThe Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 American horror-thriller film directed by Jonathan Demme and starring Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, and Scott Glenn.Adapted by Ted Tally from the 1988 novel of the same name by Thomas Harris, his second to feature the character of Dr. Hannibal Lecter; a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer, the film was the second adaptation of a Harris novel featuring Lecter, preceded by the Michael Mann-directed Manhunter in 1986. In the film, Clarice Starling, a young U.S. FBI trainee, seeks the advice of the imprisoned Dr. Lecter to apprehend another serial killer, known only as "Buffalo Bill".The only horror film ever to win best picture. It also won best director, adapted screenplay, actress and actor (for Hopkins' 25-minute turn, the second-shortest performance to win that trophy behind Peter Finch's in Network). The film is considered "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant by the U.S. Library of Congress and was selected to be preserved in the National Film Registry in 2011. A sequel titled Hannibal was released in 2001 with Hopkins reprising his role, followed by two prequels: Red Dragon (2002) and Hannibal Rising (2007).11. Shutter IslandDirector :- Martin ScorseseCast :- Leonardo Dicaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben KingsleyShutter Island is a 2010 American neo-noir psychological thriller film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Laeta Kalogridis, based on Dennis Lehane's 2003 novel of the same name. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as U.S. Marshal Edward "Teddy" Daniels who is investigating a psychiatric facility on Shutter Island after one of the patients goes missing. Mark Ruffalo plays his partner officer, Ben Kingsley is the facility's lead psychiatrist, and Michelle Williams is Daniels' wife. The film received generally favorable reviews from critics and grossed over $294 million at the box office.Shutter Island is a period piece with nods to different films in the film noir and horror genres, paying particular homage to Alfred Hitchcock's works.12. TitanicDirector :- James CameronCast :- Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate WinsletTitanic is a 1997 American epic romance-disaster film directed, written, co-produced and co-edited by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage.Upon its release on December 19, 1997, Titanic achieved critical and commercial success. Nominated for 14 Academy Awards, it tied All About Eve (1950) for the most Oscar nominations, and won 11, including the awards for Best Picture and Best Director, tying Ben Hur (1959) for the most Oscars won by a single film. With an initial worldwide gross of over $1.84 billion, Titanic was the first film to reach the billion-dollar mark. It remained the highest-grossing film of all time until Cameron's Avatar surpassed it in 2010.A 3D version of Titanic, released on April 4, 2012 to commemorate the centennial of the sinking, earned it an additional $343.6 million worldwide, pushing the film's worldwide total to $2.18 billion. It became the second film to gross more than $2 billion worldwide (after Avatar).13. Se7enDirector :- David FincherCast :- Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Kevin SpaceySeven (sometimes stylized as SE7EN) is a 1995 American neo-noir crime thriller film directed by David Fincher and written by Andrew Kevin Walker. It stars Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, John C. McGinley, R. Lee Ermey, and Kevin Spacey. It tells the story of David Mills (Pitt), a detective who partners with the retiring William Somerset (Freeman) to track down a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins in his murders.Released on September 22, 1995 by New Line Cinema, Seven was the seventh-highest-grossing film of the year, grossing over $327 million worldwide. It was well received by critics, who praised the film's darkness, brutality and themes. The film was nominated for Best Film Editing at the 68th Academy Awards, but lost to Apollo 13.14. The MatrixDirector :- Andy and Lana WachowskiCast :- Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne MossA virtual-reality prison. Sentient computer programs. Downloadable abilities. Bullet-time. Whoa. No wonder it was the first DVD to sell a million copies. The Matrix is a 1999 science fiction action film written and directed by The Wachowskis, starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano. It depicts a dystopian future in which reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality called "The Matrix", created by sentient machines to subdue the human population, while their bodies' heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source. What is the movie name you can give 10/10?

Here's a fairly simple list of movies from the last century that we think should be on every Hollywood buff's to-watch list. In no particular order, here are some of the best of the lot that you absolutely should watch if you haven't.The Dark KnightDirector :- Christopher NolanCast :- Christian Bale, Heath LedgerChristopher Nolan didn’t set out to make sequels. Upon their release, they plan to pull off a dangerous heist involving precious emeralds worth three million dollars.A marvelous performance has been given by Kevin Spacey in this movie. It won Oscars in 2 categories and Kevin bagged the award for the “Best Actor In The Supporting Role”.4. The Shawshank RedemptionDirector :- Frank DarabontCast :- Tim Robbins, Morgan FreemanAlmost 23 years ago, a film titled ‘The Shawshank Redemption' hit theaters throughout the world just to become the highest rated film ever by viewers on IMDb, years later. Directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Robert Rodat, the film is notable for its graphic portrayal of war, and for the intensity of its opening 27 minutes, which includes a depiction of the Omaha Beach assault during the Normandy landings. The movie is actually based on the Niland brothers, four siblings who all served in the US Army during World War II. Nominated for 11 Academy Awards and winning 6, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Robert De Niro, “The Godfather Part II” was met with tremendous critical acclaim with many proclaiming it had outdone its predecessor.
