Garden centres will open in Wales, but Mr Johnson did not mention these retail outlets will open in England.In England, people can return to work if they cannot do so from home. In Scotland, you can only go to your workplace if its essential. In England, you can drive a motor car to a park or beach. This same relaxation does not apply to Scotland or Wales.Looking ahead and contingent on new rates of Coronavirus infection, the UK government will announce further plans for schools and hospitality.Mr Johnson’s address comes after days of government confusion. The “stay alert” message has been mocked; the expectation of lockdown easements has not materialised and devolved governments are perusing different courses of action. All of which has culminated in a television appearance and a series media leaks.One wonders if the Mr Johnson would have been better to make a government announcement in parliament first and then a television address later. Recall that Chancellors make budget statements in parliaments first, occasionally followed by a television statement later.The UK lockdown is now likely to continue into June 2020, when there will be further internal Conservative party debates about its merits - and coinciding with a critical decision on the UK-EU temporary transition period.

Pretend otherwise, but Scotlands future is with the UK, not Europe. You think Europe wants an independent Scotland? Like it wants an independent Catalonia!
