PDF Editor FAQ

The sum of first two terms of a GP is 12 and sum of 3rd and 4th terms is 48. If the terms of GP are alternately +ve and -ve then the 1st term is?

Let us first write down the given informationAssume a, ar, ar^2, ar^3 …a+ar = 12ar^2 + ar^3 = 48r^2(a+ar) = 48r^2 = 48/12 = 4r =2 or -2a = 4 or -12So the series is 4, 8, 16, 32 when a =4 and r =2. This is a invalid series as all the terms are positive onlyAnother series when a = -12 , r = -2-12, 24, -48 , 961st term is -12.

What is the sum to infinity of the geometric progression whose second term is 162 and whose fifth term is 48?

Ar = 162Ar⁴ = 48Just divide this two equationU will get r = 2/ 32/3 a= 162 get the value of aInfinity Sum formula = a/1-r now u can find by putting the value of a n rSORRY for mistake n THANK YOU SO MUCH (:

What do you think about the fact that the family of the AR-15s inventor (Eugene Stoner) has stated that his rifle design was not intended for civilian use?

Hello there OP,What do I think of the “fact” that the Stoner family has stated that his rifle design was not intended for civilian use? Well I think that they the were talking to NBC News and unless they wanted to have protesters living on their doorstep and all manner of hellish hassle I think I’d try a positive spin as well. Especially one that is rooted in truth. It is true Stoner didn’t design the AR-10 for civilian use. He worked for Armalite (an outfit funded by Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation, that later became Fairchild-Republic a major manufacturer of military aircraft) as Chief Weapons Designer.Stoner’s first weapon, the AR-5, a .22 cal survival rifle for USAF flight crews. It later became AR-7 that Wikipedia tells us became theSemiautomatic .22 ca; ArmaLite AR-7 Explorer; Charter Arms AR-7 Explorer; Charter Arms Explorer II Pistol; Israeli Pilot's Survival Rifle; Henry U.S. Survival .22. This rifle was also no designed for civilian use, but there you go, it went civilian. In 1955 the Army wanted a replacement for the M-1 Garand and so Armalite put together a couple of hand built AR-10 and went head to head with Springfield’s T-44 and T-48. The AR-10 was a select fire weapon (full and semiautomatic) as were the T-44 and T-48.The Armalite AR-10 lost the competition to the Springfield T-44 which becameThe M-14. It was adopted in 1957. Time passes and Armalite sells Colt the patent in 1959 and they begin production. Interestingly enough Armalite’s Robert Fremont quits and goes over to Colt to oversee production (maybe it was a package deal, I don’t know the particulars). The first Colt AR-15’s were manufactured and sold to Malaya (nowadays called Malaysia)In 1961 Stoner leaves Armalite and comes to work at Colt as a consultant about the time the Air Force discovers the AR-15 and order over 8,000 of them. The Air Force thinks they are great and christens them the M-16.Later on the Air Force ordered 80,000 more (General Curtis LeMay liked them). All this time Stoner has been working on military rifle design. Isn’t the truth nice and the Stoners are safe from the Cancel Culture, at least for the time being. The M-16 was more or less slowly introduced into the Army, who eventually adopted it by 1965. While Colt held the patents they produced a civilian model they called the AR-15. Time marches on and in 1989.Jim Glazier and Karl Lewis of Lewis Machine and Tool Company (LMT), operating a new entity called Eagle Arms, begin producing complete AR-15 rifles for the consumer market. By this time, many of the earlier AR 15 Rifle related patents had expired, thereby opening up the market for complete AR-15 type rifles. These EA-15’s (AR-15 look a likes) since they were semiautomatic like Colt’s, i.e for civilians. So here we go. Eugene Stoner was a designer of military rifles. Colt and Lewis Machine and Tool Company turned them into civilian weapons. There is no proof that Stoner was aver asked to redesign the sear so it could only fire semiautomatic. Does it make any difference? Not one jot. Why? Because a civilian can buy and use an M-16 semiautomatic variant just like they can an AT-15. Springfield Armory calls their’s the M1-A (I haven’t the foggiest idea why) but it is still a semiautomatic M-14.OR the less scaryCiao
