As an outsider how was/is your experience being in South Canara?

Thanks for the A2A Sharath Hemmadi. I just came back from a 2 day Mangaluru, Dharmasthala, Ujire tour, I wish to write my experience visiting South Canara.I am a born Bengaluriga, native being Mysuru. We are from Old Mysore region, not exposed to Tulu Nadu much. Our last visit was many years back when we had visited temples there like Dharmasthala, Kukke, Udupi, Kateelu etc. Recently I had been there for a function on friend’s invite. As we drive through the national highway that connects Bengaluru and Mangaluru, until Hassan everything looks similar to Bengaluru, be it climate, people, houses, shops, food etc. But once we reach Sakaleshpura, malnad region starts. We have to pass through the curves of Western Ghats. Geography starts to change, we enter a different landscape as we reach Shiradi Ghat. Road looks very good with the ghats full of lush green in the background and the Gundya river which flows parallel to the road. We can observe the change in the temperature, it rises slightly and humidity can be felt.Shiradi ghatOnce we cross the Shiradi ghat, we enter the Tulu Nadu, soil is different from the Old Mysore region. Soil is red in colour in South Canara unlike the black soil present in rest of Karnataka. We start to hear Tulu and Mangaluru Kannada there. We went to Dharmasthala and had the darshan of Lord Manjunatha Swamy.Temples here have red tiles roof, there are no gopuras which can be seen in temples in South Karnataka. From there we went to Ujire. Climate will be hot and humid, there will be light sweating :P. We can observe SDM educational institutions across all towns in that stretch. We went to my friend’s house near Ujire. Houses there are very different from houses in rural area in South Karnataka, where there will be many houses in streets and very rare to have a house in between farms. But in Tulu nadu region, in rural areas, people will have house in between their farms. There will be areca trees in surrounding and house in the center. Neighboring houses will be far and not near by.People there are very traditional, follow their culture very strictly. They use kuchalakki anna (boiled rice), and not white rice which is used in South Karnataka. We stayed in a lodge in Ujire. Next day morning we started our journey to Mangaluru. For breakfast we could see hotels serving Mangalore Buns, Neer dose which are typical breakfast items of that region. Idly, dosa, poori were also available.Mangalore BunsBest part of the journey was road was very good and clean. There was no plastic or garbage thrown on the streets. We could see saffron flags dotting the roads. We could see banners about many religious functions like nemotsava, kalotsava etc.A nemotsava bannerAs usual we could see lot of areca and coconut trees along the road. There were few houses here and there. Houses had the typical Mangalore tiles as roof.I observed that different kind of bricks were used there for building, particularly compounds. It looks like thisThis is not seen in rest of the state, this may be used there as it experiences heavy rainfall. While travelling, I was just going through the names of villages and small towns that used to come in between, there were no hallis like what can be seen in rest of state, it is not a surprise as village names there will be in Tulu and not in Kannada. There were few stones nearby the road which was marked as pilichamundi kallu.Lot of coconut oil shops can be found across the highway as that region is known for extensive use of coconut oil in cooking.Within one and half hour we reached Mangaluru/Kudla.Expert coaching institute's building welcomes us to the city. It is so big that it can be mistaken for apartment or a big industry :DI had tuned into FM channel while driving, I observed that RJ’s there speak in typical Mangaluru Kannada like enta marre, untu etc. It was very sweat to hear their talks. Two big rivers Netravati and Gurupura flows through the city. We went to Tannir Bhavi beach. It was very beautiful sight to watch the mighty Arabian Sea. It was less crowded and very clean.A little further we can see the two rivers Netravati and Gurupura joining the Arabian sea, it is a spectacular sight.State Bank in Mangaluru is Benagaluru’s Majestic. It is the hub for city buses, both private and KSRTC. The city has a very good network of private and government buses with very good frequency.A private bus in Mangaluru.Such saffron and blue colored govt buses look very clean and also of good quality. The city looks like mini Mumbai with sea shore, tall buildings, commercial establishments and hotels. Roads are very good with concrete and no potholes. We could find many malls, shopping centers, etc in the main city areas like Hampankatta, lalbagh etc.Visit to Mangaluru cannot be complete without having ice cream at the famous Pabba’sThere are few areas/localities in Mangaluru having names like nagara which can be found in rest of Karnataka in abundance. The art forms in that region forms the icing on cake. Yakshagana is the best art form I have seen. It starts at night and continues till midnight or next day early morning. People do come and watch it even after the advent of TV and cinemas, this shows the love and respect people there have for Yakshagana. One more point to be noted is even though the main language there is Tulu, Yakshagana is performed in Kannada and still it has found acceptance.I really enjoyed my two days stay there. We are really proud of South Canara, buddhivantara jille (intelligent district).

Does cryptocurrency really have a future in India? I have noticed that ICOs are just a scam.

Victor Hugo once remarked : "You can resist an invading army; you cannot resist an idea whose time has come." Today cryptocurrency is such an idea.Since the advent of bitcoin in 2008, there has been a rapid proliferation of cryptocurrencies and there are now more than 900 available on the internet. There has been a growing number of investors in such currencies over the last few years, especially with the huge spurt in the value of a few of them since the Donald Trump administration came in the US. The scenario in India is no different.More than 2500 Indians invest in bitcoin daily.[1][1][1][1] Start-ups like Zebpay, Unocoin, Coinsecure, Searchtrade, Belfrics and Bitxoxo have become some of the well known players in the bitcoin and blockchain segment in India. This boom left only two options, India could either help structure the growth of cryptocurrencies or drive the whole enterprise underground beyond its control, and it is heartening that the former was chosen over the latter. In 2017, the Indian government kicked off deliberations on cryptocurrencies - a welcome move. An inter-disciplinary committee has been constituted to study regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrencies. It includes experts from Reserve Bank of India, NITI Aayog, State Bank of India and departments of revenue and financial services. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is mulling on how ICO's can be regulated.[2][2][2][2] Public comments are being sought by the government. All this will further help in strengthening cryptocurrencies against ponzi schemes and scams. Some of India's Asian counterparts (China, South Korea, Japan) have already adopted use of cryptocurrencies with regulations.[3][3][3][3] India can follow, learn and innovate based on what these countries have done.Hence, it can be said that cryptocurrency indeed has a bright future in India. Its time has come !Footnotes[1] https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/banking/finance/2500-indians-investing-in-bitcoins-daily-here-is-all-you-should-know-about-bitcoins-its-usage-dangers/articleshow/58719151.cms[1] https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/banking/finance/2500-indians-investing-in-bitcoins-daily-here-is-all-you-should-know-about-bitcoins-its-usage-dangers/articleshow/58719151.cms[1] https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/banking/finance/2500-indians-investing-in-bitcoins-daily-here-is-all-you-should-know-about-bitcoins-its-usage-dangers/articleshow/58719151.cms[1] https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/banking/finance/2500-indians-investing-in-bitcoins-daily-here-is-all-you-should-know-about-bitcoins-its-usage-dangers/articleshow/58719151.cms[2] Crypto currencies, ICOs under SEBI lens[2] Crypto currencies, ICOs under SEBI lens[2] Crypto currencies, ICOs under SEBI lens[2] Crypto currencies, ICOs under SEBI lens[3] Japan Officially Recognises Bitcoin as Currency Starting April 2017 - NEWSBTC[3] Japan Officially Recognises Bitcoin as Currency Starting April 2017 - NEWSBTC[3] Japan Officially Recognises Bitcoin as Currency Starting April 2017 - NEWSBTC[3] Japan Officially Recognises Bitcoin as Currency Starting April 2017 - NEWSBTC
