PDF Editor FAQ

I have used Byju’s premium for several months but I want to return. If I stop my auto debit, what will happen? How do I return? I am deeply troubled by them.

I have no idea what agreement or contract you signed.Auto Debits can be dicey to cancel. Banks may not agree outright. If you dont place money in the account and Byjus doesnt get money - they can come after you under 138 NI Act equivalent law (Yes - even without Cheques - NI act is applicable to failed NEFT or even ECS payments)You have to tell Byjus that you want to stop your course and want a refund etc. After that - depending on your agreement or contract you can go to Consumer court where the chances of a successful resolution in 5 years will be less than 20%.I read somewhere they give you a tablet. So you may have to return the Tablet and its a complicated deal. However does Byjus actually auto debit? I thought they charge a one time fee for each course.

How much of your salary are you actually saving/investing and spending? In percent of your salary and approximate actual amount.

Currently my salary is 65000 INR.I stay alone so expenses are bare mimimum as of now . My expenses and savings breakup goes up like this -1.Rent - Nil ,as residence is provided by government2. Travel and fuel - Nil as vehicle and fuel is provided by govt.3. Grocery - 2000 pm(I save here as I have mostly home grown vegetables)4.Electricity bill - 1000 pm5.Other miscellaneous expenses - 2000 pm6.Medical insurance is covered by government. So,I save around 60000 pm,around 90%.Currently I invest only at three places -1.PPF - 12500 INR pm(Invested 1,50000 lumpsum)2.RD - 10000 INR pm3.NPS - Auto debited (around 6500 pm,government contributes around 9000 pm)Rest, around 30000 pm remains in savings account.I am planning to start two step up SIPs of 10000 INR each in large cap direct funds and increase them by 10% every year .Rest 10000 pm will remain in savings account or perhaps in some liquid fund.

What is the difference between SIP through ECS/Direct Debit & Auto Debit?

Auto Debit is a generic term to describe the process - the SIP amount gets debited from your account automatically. The other two terms are mere technical variations and do not affect you as a consumer. If the Mutual Fund Company's account is in the same bank where your account is maintained, it's called Direct Debit. If the MF Company bank is different from your bank, fund transfer will take place via the ECS system.
