I don’t know about the other Indonesians out there, but the followings are several things that make me think I am different from people around me:i am able to read and write Javanese script.Javanese is my native language. Students in my generation who attend public schools in East Java Province learn it in elementary school and junior high school as a mandatory subject, but now there are only a few people who are able to read and write Javanese script. Even though I stopped learning it formally seven years ago, but unlike my friends, I am still able to recognize Javanese script with (almost) no difficulties.I am good at Geography.While my friends (and my family) have major difficulties in pointing the locations of cities around the world on the map, I never experience that kind of feeling.I have a big interest about the DPRK (North Korea)I wish I will be able to visit this mysterious country someday. I know it is not impossible to go there even for now but I need a large amount of money because all of the tour provided is very expensive (for me).I LOVE learning English and many other foreign languages.I learned French when I was in high school, even though it was not going anywhere as there was no one who shares the same interest with me. I also learned basic Japanese at school as a mandatory subject, and it was not for long until I realized that out of 32 students in my class, there were only three or four students (including me) who take the lesson seriously. During the semester exam, my entire answer sheet was practically copied by my friends in the same room because they didn’t have any idea how to answer the questions. They were not able to even read the Hiragana and Katakana (no need to mention Kanji), let alone to understand the meaning and answer the questions. When I was studying Mathematics Education in college, I also taught myself German, but I stopped after a while. I am able to read Hangeul (Korean script), I am now learning Mandarin Chinese, and I plan to learn Cantonese as well.
