Is it possible to practice as a surgeon and physician?After doing MBBS can I do both MD & MS then DM & MCh? I am Interested In Cardiac Field.Maybe a bit strange but I wanted to practice both.But if its a bit too awkward,what about MBBS, MS(General Surgery), DM(Cardiology) MCh(Cardiothoracic Surgery) ?After studying in India,Can I practice in Australia?When I was a 10 year old I loved putting all those medical degrees across my name and really thought I would become a physician and a surgeon. I even fantasized that I would specialize in half a dozen specialties.In the end it’s just that!Fantasies of a 10 year old kid.My MBBS, MS and fellowships took me 13 years to finish. In the real world one can’t just keep accumulating degrees just because it looks good next to your name. It has to be practically useful to earn your living.You can’t do MS and MD and hold both degrees at the same time in India. For example if you’ve done MS (General Surgery) and then gone on to do MD (Internal Medicine), your MS degree is null and void. You then cannot practice surgery nor are you eligible to apply for Mch entrances. The MCI has strict rules regarding this so that people don’t waste medical degrees just because they can get into residency programs repeatedly (via intellect/money/ reservation) and have the resources to complete them. There is an acute shortage of specialists and sub-specialists in India and we cannot afford to give multiple degrees to one person for the sake of someone’s vanity.I’m guessing the OP is a young Indian high school student. My only advice to him/her is don’t get too ahead of yourself. Take it one step at a time . First step is to try to get into medicine which not very easy to get into with merit. Once you get into medicine, you have to find your own way, know what you like and don’t like. It’s OK to have big dreams but it’s important not to be too invested in the end point- in your case- being a surgeon and/or physician in Australia. There are far too many hurdles before that can happen.After studying in India, Can I practice in Australia?No you can’t!You need to complete the medical licensure requirements in austrailia to practice medicine in Australia. However there are various pathways where you can get into Australia and work there, It varies a lot and beyond the scope of this answer. Sure!… As long as the RN holds a state license complicit with the necessary requirements as a licensed skincare therapist and it’s scope of practice within his/her state, practicing skincare therapy.Being an RN does not bypass that of the requirements specific to an LE., regardless of the level or extent of training and or education variances when comparing the two licensure/diplomas. Each licensure requires its own training specific to each scope of practices exclusive to its individual licensure, the states regulatory laws regarding the two (LE and RN), and or state regulations where practice/employment will occur.
