PDF Editor FAQ
How many of you are able to see the 'Achche Din' of Modi?
The road in front of my home was in terrible state. During congress ruling, every two or three years it used to be filled with bitumen and in less than six months it used to fall apart and again the same terrible situation. Minor accidents were common due to potholes throughout Nagpur.Since Nitin Gadkari came into power he has started concretization of all the major roads worth more than 330crores in Nagpur. The work on the road in front of my home was done in record time of 2–3 months after beginning of work. And now wherever you go in Nagpur you will see construction work going on. New flyovers, new metro, concrete roads the face of Nagpur is completely changed. I can't believe this is the same orange city. Also all the street lights are being replaced with LED lights. Even in front of my house which used to be pretty dark. Also it is all completely underground wiring. The problem of load shedding is also over. It was just five years back when in summer it was normal if their was no electricity for 2–3 hrs in the main city. But now it's down to zero, except a few times when the transformer of the area blows out. But even then the engineers come within half an hour and the electricity is back. Two new gardens have also been opened in my area with all the amenities like jogging track, kids games, yoga sheds, etc.No rise in taxes. And prices of essentials is also quite under control. My family’s spending capacity have increased. The major problem of orange city according to me will be very low prices for oranges. As my uncle is an orange farmer I can tell that the agricultural distress is real. In spite of increase in MSP the ground reality is pretty much worse. I think we the middle class can handle a little more taxes but the poor farmer is gonna die if he doesn't get proper prices for his crop. This is one major issue which needs to be solved.Few pics:This kind of diversions due to work in progress situation have become common throughout Nagpur..After completion. :).Metro work under construction(also notice the CCTVs, these are present in 700 locations across the city which issues e-challans to the violaters of traffic rules)..Nagpur’s first double decker flyover under construction..Now almost complete wardha road double decker flyover..Theirs no stopping another one coming at manish nagar..Not even stopping their, India's first four layered bridge is also coming up in Kamptee, Nagpur..Zero mile metro station (20 floor).Ajni metro station.Ujwal nagar metro station.Ambazari metro stationThanks for reading!Signing out!EDIT 1: Bonus points for the amazing response:) →Proposed Khapri station.Under construction.Proposed metro bhavan office.Work in progress...South airport station work completed(11.5 km of metro is operational right now)Now few proposed metro stations: -(65% of this metro is gonna run on solar energy making it the greenest metro of India)Sitabuldi interchangeFew pics of Nagpur metro: -Signing out!Edit 2: ONE MORE AMBITIOUS PROJECT:WORLD’S LONGEST STREET IS BEING BUILT IN NAGPUR CALLED AS “ORANGE CITY STREET” inspired by London Street is a dream project of Nitin Gadakari. The architect of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) — Hafeez Contractor — has finalized the design of the ambitious Orange City Street project.According to a paper presented during Indian Roads Congress (IRC) by NMC executive engineer Naresh Borkar and Nilabh Nagar of the contractor’s firm, the 5.5km-long Orange City Street will be the longest street in the world. Next to this will be Ginza in Tokyo, which is just 1.45km-long.The complete street has been divided into 10 sectors. The key characteristics of the project is total 9.5 acres for recreational space with theatres, auditoriums, banquet halls, hotels, club houses with swimming pools and multipurpose halls. The 30.46-hectare project will have schools, central fire station, police stations, banks, etc. It envisages a higher secondary school, 200-bed hospital, social housing for low income groups, community centres, marriage halls, convention centre, sports clubs, parks, market places etc.The street is connected at both ends to Nagpur Metro. At Wardha Road end, it has Jaiprakash Nagar Metro station and on Hingna Road end, it has Rachna Ring Road station.NMC has planned a multi-modal hub at Jaiprakash Nagar for transfer of Metro passengers to bus, autorickshaw and taxis for last mile connectivity. Special electric buses will run on the road.Sector 1, which is in Jaiprakash Nagar, will have an integrated mall with link to the Metro station. The first three floors will have retail space and next five storeys will have commercial space.Sector 2 has 71% space for residential use, 21% for commercial and hospitality and 8% for retail sector. Every sector has different percentages reserved for various categories. The project has a mandatory arcade for its entire length similar to Connaught Place in Delhi and Dadabhai Naoroji Road in Mumbai. The arcade will provide a safe vehicle-free shopping experience for almost 4km.The 24metre-wide street is proposed to be completely in concrete with two-way two-lane traffic and additional lanes for bus bay and mobile application-based cabs. Particular attention has been paid to cyclists and pedestrians. Traffic calming strategies have been adopted to ensure safe crossings at junctions. The entire street will have smart lighting, WiFi and signage in single smart pole with synchronized signaling. Universal access has been given utmost importance with edge slopes and tactile paving. Robust landscape elements and best in class street furniture bus stops, etc will further enhance the people’s experience. The street has a unique feature called pause points in the form of junctions, entertainments, reserve greens and amenities. The continuous development is punctuated by green pockets and community spaces at regular intervals. Will keep updating!Source:1.Official site of Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited2.Gadkari announces Rs 7,000 crore infra projects for Nagpur - ET RealEstate3.Rs3,000 crore Orange City Street, world’s longest, to have everything that you need | Nagpur News - Times of India
Uddhav Thackeray is stalling all the infrastructural projects initiated by Fadnavis. What is your opinion on this?
This is precisely why investors do not want to come to India despite promises of attractive returns. India’s rank on the Ease of Doing Business Index might have improved drastically in the last few years, but the same needs to reflect in reality.Unfortunately, our politicians are a rare breed — fearmongers, opportunists, vengeful, and stupid. Instead of building on what the previous governments have achieved or set in motion, their first order of business is to undo the same, leading to delayed projects, sunk costs, and overall administrative lethargy. It is simply unfortunate that we have at the helm of India’s economically largest state someone who hasn’t ever contested an election. Whose party won only 45% of seats they contested and that too because of their pre-poll alliance. Uddhav Thackeray has ZERO professional achievements that were not handed down to him as part of his late father’s legacy. And he has been working round the clock the last few days, kicking up dirt and derailing projects left, right, and center.I had given orders to stop the metro car shed work in Aarey. When the trees were cut in the middle of the night, Mumbaikars agitated against the decision. They were detained & charged. I have given orders to take back all the charges filed against them.-@CMOMaharashtra #Aarey pic.twitter.com/OtNcemeDcN— Office of Uddhav Thackeray (@OfficeofUT) December 1, 2019This was already done and dusted. The SC had given their nod to the metro shed project. As a city, Mumbai is crumbling under ceaseless population pressures and a rapidly deteriorating infrastructure that was never meant to support such humongous human mass is slowly falling apart. The roads are choke-full and the 3 local lines are insufficient to ensure proper connectivity throughout the city. For development, there are always costs. The government has to either buy private land or use its own if feasible. Private land acquisition is a tedious process because even one non-cooperating individual can stall the entire process. For one of the proposed lines, the government has decided to construct the metro car shed within Aarey colony, which would require about 2500 trees to be cut.Suddenly, there was a surge of love for the environment, mostly by self-proclaimed social warriors and Bollywood celebrities to not do so. And their hypocrisy could not be more prominent.Firstly, Aarey has over 500,000 trees[1]. The amount of trees cut (2,500 or about 0.5%) is miniscule and the benefits of it are immense. The overall hullabaloo that it was lead to an ecological disaster is nothing more than fear-mongering. Also, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has already planted more than 20,000 new trees in the adjoining Sanjay Gandhi National Park to compensate for the felling in Aarey.[2]There was little outrage on the fact that there is a film city and a private golf resort in the same area. [3]He has also indicated that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project and the Mumbai-Pune Hyperloop might be stalled too.[4] And so will the Versova-Bandra Sea Link and the Mumbai-Nagpur expressway.May be we should all get back to bullock carts and pedestrian ways? Why spend money on development when you can use the same for appeasement politics?Already, leaders of the new coalition government have indicated that populist measures such as loan waiver for farmers, meal at Rs 10 and unemployment income for youths are round the corner. This nincompoop will set back the state many years and they cry that the center is not cooperating and that is why there is poverty and unemployment and farmer distress and abandoned projects and crumbling infrastructure and “oh god why are we not growing as fast as China?”.I personally am waiting for this rag-tag coalition to crumble at the earliest so that Maharashtra can get back on the development track again.Footnotes[1] On Aarey, "No Further Cutting Of Trees Needed": Maharashtra To Top Court[2] Aarey forest row: Don't cut so many trees that our future generations do not know what tree is, says Bombay High Court[3] Rahul Chauhan (राहुल चौहान)'s answer to Does cutting down 2,000-3,000 trees for the construction of a car shed in Aarey Forest, Mumbai make sense?[4] Uddhav Thackeray may junk Devendra Fadnavis' bullet train, expressway, hyperloop projects
