It's awesome and full of experiences!I am a student and don't get to travel much, but last vacation i managed a trip to RAJASTHAN,INDIA alone.It's a long story, so it'll count on your patience.firstly, when i was planning for trip i was unable to decide whether to stay for a week or less(As i was alone, a risk of getting bored makes me think so).I decided not to make return journey reservations.27th june: I left home with a backpack and a small luggage bag.Boarded in train at my reserved seat.!!what i see there it's already occupied.A lady with her family was over there.I asked them to move.after a few minutes as i settled we started a conversation.talking to anonymous person makes you more confident,relaxed and social.we all became familiar with each other that we even started playing cards.and the journey became so entertaining.28th june evening : Reached jodhpur. first word from mouthbeautiful !After reaching there and finding a suitable place to stay,I started to ask a few neighbour about the roads and places nearby..1st comment: REAL Rajasthan don't lie in cities ,it's in VILLAGES.2nd comment: same3rd comment :sameso I decided to go to villages and stay there and find out what a real rajasthan Is!29th june: I took a bus in the after noon to osiya (70km).Roamed there and visited the temple. then i searched for a dharamshala(its a kind of lodge) as i had limited amount of money with me.the manager asked me about myself then i told him that i am from Raipur,Chhattisgarh then he told me he once visited chhattisgarh and found tha place very natural and delightful. and also told that there are some relatives over there.7.30: I inquired about bus to go to a small village 30kms ahead named bedu. but the last bus already left.now since i checked out from dharmshala i cant go back there and just found out that "I AM SCREWED" waiting at the bus stop for more than an hour, than suddenly a guy came to me asking "kaha jano hai bhayo"(where to go?)I told him :"bedu jana hai"(BEDU.)he: "ab to koi teranssport na he"(no public transport at this hour of time)."private kar liyo wo thane chod ayi" (do a private taxi,it will drop you)suddenly the guy picked up my luggage,i was stunned and asked him to put it down and said "bhaiyo mere pas utne paise nai hai koi dusra tareka h to btao"(I don't have that amount of money tell me other options)and also i tried to make him go as i can smell the alcohol from him.god for the first time in my life i was that scared.8.30: A decent,innocent guy of my age(21 ) came and asked me where you wanna go,I told him.2nd guy: "acha mai b wahi jaa r a hu"(I am also going there)As a find the guy innocent i was relaxed,a sense of happiness and also a smile came in my face.me:gud gud"acha hai sath ho jayega"(its good to have a company)he: look at that jeep.stop that.Finally we got a man who can drop us to bedu.as we reached there i paid for BOTH of us. he said no please don't pay for me but it gave me an immense satisfaction for paying him.10.00: someone of my knowledge came to recieve me.(although i didn't know him personally but we had a telephonic conversation) named dilip.dilip was a boy!!!!! even younger than me!!!I thanked the jeep guy and also the innocent looking guy.We then headed toward yogesh agrawal ji's house.(first time heard the name).he and his wife greeted us even without knowing me .They instantly made the arrangement for food,even hand made sweets.after this we talked for sometime and they asked me where i want to sleep in terrace/porch.I instantly replied terrace will be fun!!A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE FOR ME!! whoa i was so excited. it took me merely 15min to fall asleep.waking up early in the morning under the natural bed of sky,and dawn is the most beautiful experience i had!!then we (i and dilip) both had breakfast and started our journey at 6.30 in the morning barefooted.no need for accupressure if you run barefooted. for 5 km continously we were enjoying the aura of nature.I LIKED THE COMPANY OF NATURE.I STARTED LOVING MY JOURNEY.I STARTED LOVING RAJASTHAN.I STARTED LOVING VILLAGES.I STARTED LOVING MYSELF MORE!then we headed to new villages exploring many new and natural things AAU,MATODA,GHANTIYALI and many more. I stayed there for a week then returned WITHOUT TICKET back to home (Another story with a hell lot of amazement,excitement and trickiness)There were many more events which can't be described as it is so long.BUT one thing i can definitely say that if you want to feel "atithi devo bhava" you must visit rajasthan once in life.concluding i can say that traveling alone makes you1 INDEPENDENT2 NATURAL3 DOWN TO EARTH4 INSTANTLY HAPPY5 AESTHETICALLY BEAUTIFUL FROM INSIDE6NOTHING CONFIDENT AND HAPPIER Than this.

My longest 1 minute was when I was next in line for my visa interview at US Embassy in Delhi. I had already been rejected once and I had heard that once rejected, its very rare to get accepted the second time, especially if the previous interview was only a week ago.The previous counselor hadn't even heard of Academy of Art University(which is the largest and oldest private arts university in USA) and after searching on Google Images, said that it looks like an institute. And she didn't even try to listen to me explain all this to her. I was rejected and dejected.I had read on forums and blogs of people who got rejected as well and they said that unless your case changes significantly there is very little chance to turn the tables.Well, anyways I contacted my university about this and even they were shocked. They immediately sent me another email containing all sorts of accreditation information confirming that my university is indeed a university. And I applied again as soon as I can. I did it only because I didn't want to say later in life "What if I had been accepted the 2nd time". I had low hopes but I still prepared for the interview unlike last time when I was overconfident.The day of the interview: 23rd April 2013.There were already a bunch of people waiting for their turn. I had to wait for 40 minutes for my number to appear on the screen.For those who don't know, here is how it works: They call you up when your number appears on the screen. Then you are asked to stand in another line with 3 more people standing in front of you and one is already giving an interview. You have to stand there listening to other interviews, and people getting accepted or rejected in front of you.Hopeful students like me are scrutinized by American counselors who don't even know you and don't care about how many dreams depend on this 5 minute interview. Its a traumatizing experience and its amplified when people in front of you get accepted or rejected. No matter what happens to them you get even more scared. Will he like me? Will he accept me as well? Oh shit!! he has rejected him!! What will happen to me? The pressure is unbelievable. Its not like a 3 hr exam where you have time to gather your thoughts and focus your energy positively. Anything can happen! A cough or a sneeze can get you rejected. Who knows what's going on in the mind of the counselor. That was the longest minute of my life when I was standing there while the guy in front of me was being interviewed. My whole career and dreams depended upon this small interaction. The longest 3 minutes of my life were what happened once my turn came.The guy in front of me just got his visa accepted. The visa counselor signals me to come forward. I place my big harmonium folder in front of him.He says: "Can I see your documents?"I said "Sure"With my visibly shaking hands I take out my passport and I-20 form and pass it under the glass. He takes a look at the document and enters my passport number in the system. Meanwhile my legs are trembling furiously and my hands were sweating so much I was soaking all my other documents. I covered my mouth with my wet hands because I couldn't help breathing heavily because of nervousness. I noticed him looking curiously at my action, but I couldn't look him in the eye. I was literally going crazy in front of him.Then he suddenly says:" You were here two weeks ago?"I said "Yes sir.""What happened?"Now I couldn't blame the rejection on the previous visa officer even though it was totally her lack of knowledge and narrow-mindedness which caused my rejection. So I said" I couldn't convince her that my university was a legitimate university.""So do you have anything to improve your case?"I produced the letter which my university emailed me along with a brochure and webpages from various American education websites listing that university.He says :"The letter's enough." and starts reading it. I also give him a genuine letter which I received by regular mail which contained an actual stamp of AAU. He compared the signatures on both of them. Then he asks me the worst question of all."How many universities did you get accepted in apart from this one?""Only this one sir.""Why do you think that is?"Uhh, what? I didn't expect that question.. Anyway.."Sir, I think because my portfolio isn't good enough. I am a Computer Science undergrad and I have never had a formals arts training before."He seemed satisfied. Next question."What does your father do?"" Sir, both my parents are doctors.""Do you have any siblings?""I have one elder sister.""What is she doing?""She is doing her Masters in Dental Surgery from Udaipur."He pauses and looks at my profile. By this time my nerves have calmed down significantly but I am still tensed."When did you graduate?""2012""So what did you do for a year?""Sir I tried learning art by joining a 6month course in digital painting in Mumbai."Another pause while he looked at my file again."Couldn't you find a similar course in India?""I did look in Mumbai while I was there and I I couldn't find a course which focused on teaching the art in animation. Most institutes focus on teaching the software. I want to improve my artistic skills.""What are your plans after this course?""Once I complete my Masters I would like to come back to india and teach what I learn here. India doesn't produce Hollywood quality animation because we have never been taught fine arts properly. Our foundation is weak. And I want to strengthen it and for that I have to study outside."Pause. A sigh, and he says:" Alright your visa has been approved, you will receive your passport by next week.""Thank you very much sir." I blabbered as I packed my documents back barely able to stand. Soon I was jumping outside with exhilaration.The best day of my life.
