PDF Editor FAQ
What is one quality you admire in people?
The ability to do something every day.Success is built on habits and discipline. By setting and following routines, you set yourself up for success. Behind every moment of dazzling greatness, there is years upon years of routine.I tell myself I’m going to the gym 5 days a week. I feel great after 4 days. But on the 5th day, I can’t bring myself to go.I tell myself I’ll read economics and market news everyday. After 4 days of not understanding what a mutual fund is, I lose motivation to read the 5th day.I tell myself I’ll wake up at 5:30 every day. After 4 days of jumping out of bed, I’ll beg for 10 more minutes on the next day.The ability to say no to all those distractions and stay on your path with laser focus is truly commendable.
Why can’t I learn JavaScript? I feel so bad and like everyone else gets it so easy. I get stressed out and my self-esteem gets worse everyday.
When I first started learning JavaScript, I had your exact same thoughts on a daily basis. Seriously. I joined an expensive boot camp and ended up dropping out because I couldn't keep up. The people who were doing well had previous programming experience, so they could grasp the concepts more quickly, and I continually struggled and lagged behind. So what does this mean for you? It does not mean you are too unintelligent to learn to code. Instead, it means you are normal. Every new programmer, regardless of IQ, experiences what you're feeling on some level. The ones who tell you otherwise are lying. The frustration and difficult emotions you're struggling with are part of the process.I also want to stress that it takes time to learn how to solve problems with code. I also experienced disappointment when I discovered that programming wasn't something I could learn easily or quickly. Honestly, there is no substitute for putting in the time, which is what you're doing now.Now that you know this, the question is, how will you move forward? The way I see it, you have three options:Stick with JavaScript, but try a different learning platform. The courses that helped me the most were Colt Steele’s Web Developer Bootcamp[1] and Anthony Alicea’s JavaScript: Understanding the Weird Parts. I also highly recommend Tony de Araujo’s books, which are available on Amazon. Start with the JavaScript basics in his series. de Araujo’s books will get you started with basic challenges, and the repetition he employs will help you with retention.Try another programming language and then return to JavaScript. This worked for me. JS is continually in flux, and even experienced engineers have a hard time keeping up. I switched up and started learning PHP. I had many small successes with that language. I gradually built on them and then went back to JavaScript and was able to move through Treehouse and Code School challenges more easily compared to previous attempts. The ability to complete challenges I previously found impossible was a good benchmark for progress. If you'd like to try another language, consider PHP and then revisit JavaScript.Take a break and return to JavaScript when you're feeling better. One technique I've used is taking my frustrations out by beating an old pillow and shouting. Obviously, this is something that you should not do in the presence of other people, but I mention it because it's surprisingly effective! It allows you to release pent up frustration and get back to work. Another technique is angry journaling. You start out writing your angry thoughts and really let JavaScript have it. Once you've done that, move on and try to find something humorous. I once threatened JavaScript that I would hide all of it's semicolons and bring the internet to a screeching halt. An empty threat to be sure, but the point is, if you can uplevel your mood from frustration to humor, you will be in a better state of mind when you tackle your next coding challenge. It could make the difference between quitting and giving yourself the ability to code another day.Try these suggestions out and see what works. And remember, you are normal! What you're experiencing is normal. I cannot stress that enough. I know it is disheartening when you see others pick up concepts more quickly. Just say to yourself that they're further along in their journey of learning how to code, and take comfort in knowing that you'll get there eventually. Good luck!Footnotes[1] Best Online JavaScript Course | You Can Learn How to Code

How can we hide them so that the lust and greed of men will not steal or destroy them? What can we do to be assured that these riches will be carried on from generation to generation for the benefit of all mankind?"So in their wisdom they selected a hiding place that was so obvious it wouldn't be seen. And there they placed the true riches of life, endowed with the magic power of perpetual self-replenishment.In this hiding place these treasures can be found by every living person in every land who follows the “success system that never fails.”- “The Success System That Never Fails” by W.
