Yes, to me, when I appeared on a misdemeanor charge of public indecency (long story). My lawyer had already reached a plea deal with the state, but this judge thought it was his job to berate, belittle, and lecture me. I stood there and took it, however, until he asked me, “What other stupid things have you done?” And I said, “I don't have to answer a question like that, because it has nothing to do with this case.” He sat there, red-faced, for a long time, but he knew I was right, and finally agreed to the plea deal.I enjoyed a bit of karmic revenge years later when he was running for a state Court of Appeals judgeship but was rated “unfit" by my state's Bar Association on the grounds of temperament; he came by my place of business and asked to put a campaign sign out front, but I refused him, saying I was once berated for doing stupid things, so I didn't want to do another. 😆EDIT NOTE: Some have correctly pointed out that Federal judgeships are appointed positions, not elected. In all honesty, I don't recall specifically which court he was running for, but I do know it was for a seat in a town where there is a Federal Court. It was probably a state District Court of Appeal. The election was sometime in the late 90s, and I'm almost certain the court was in Champaign-Urbana (there's a Federal Court there…I served on Jury Duty there)

Any damn day you want. The only real expense is the marriage license which is $75 in Macon County, Illinois.
