Navigating The Periodic Table: Fill & Download for Free

Two of my favorites:Years ago, when I was living in the Seattle area, I pulled up behind a car with a plate that read: 3M TA3. I thought about it a minute, then passed him and looked in the mirror. Sure enough: EAT ME!The second was driven by a gal here in Texas. Throughout the nation there is a series of navigational beacons called “VOR’s”—you may have seen one while driving in rural areas of the US; they have a distinctive shape that looks like a white witch’s hat on a red and white square building. Each VOR has a separate three letter identifier: SEA for Seattle, GTF for Great Falls, Montana, and, this one, with the identifier CZI, south of Sheridan, WY:

"Smarter" is not a term that can be adequately defined or measured. I don't think it would be possible to take a group from the higher socioeconomic culture and pit them against a group of children from a lower socioeconomic culture.Is "smarter" the group who can do math, find a verb, and name the presidents...but can't make a decision, cross the street, or figure out how to feed the entire group for preservation without money?Is "smarter" the group who can't put two sentences together, find a square root, or navigate the periodic table of elements... But can manage to speak two (or sometimes three) languages, knows the hazard of mixing ammonia and bleach together, and how to budget money for meals for the whole family?"Smarter": an ambiguous term at best... Designed to separate the haves from the have-nots. Children who come from higher SES families have greater opportunities to learn from books. They have more time to devote to formal education because they don't usually have to spend a whole lot of time ensuring their basic needs are met. Children of lower SES are just as capable of educational success (even given the fact that they typically have substandard text books, schools, equipment, and opportunities). They tend to concentrate less on studying and more on their need for food, shelter, and safety.
