It's an interesting question that doesn't have one clear answer. It depends on how big your team is.Working in a team of 10 people, we try to have a weekly progress update meeting where everyone can share their plans and progress. But we also use a weekly progress reporting tool to make sure we always have an idea of what's going on.1-on-1 meetings are also important but you don't actually have the time to do them with everyone every week.The main thing about any meeting, including one-on-ones, is to face them prepared. Before the scheduled meeting, have a plan. Know what you're walking into. Be ready to ask questions and offer advise.Remember that one-on-one meetings are part of two-way communication. You are not only giving feedback to your employees but getting feedback from them.

Background:I'm a final year B.E computer science student in an Engineering college in Bangalore. We need to submit a project as part of our 8th sem syllabus.Event: Project approvalWe(team of four) did a little something as a proof of concept for our project. Our judge panel there were 3 professors and Our HOD ( Head of department) and they gave it a go for our project. Our HOD was assigned as our project guide and our project coordinator told us that he(HOD) only volunteered to be our project guide.these incidents happened recently. here is a list of facepalm moments.The first week of our projectwe had to get our HOD's , guide's , Project coordinator's and Class teacher's signatures( yeah! that's a lot of work.. sigh) as part of our "progress check" routine.we went to our HOD's office to get his signatures. ( speechless!)we didn't go for his signatures for few weeks because we were either too busy or too lazy (mostly lazy)After few weeks, we couldn't find our progress report so we got a new one and had to get all previous week's signatures..
