Back in the 1980’s my photography teacher had some very unethical and repulsing forms of discipline that, today, would have caused him to be fired.The boys’ restroom was right across the hall from our classroom, and our teacher, Mr. H. took full advantage of the close proximity to the urinals.If our photos were not turned in on time, students (including girls) would have to enter the boys’ restroom and return with 10 pubic hairs on a piece of tissue. No more and no less than ten. I never had a late photo, but my best friend did. She was mortified and totally humiliated as she wiped around the boys’ bathroom floor and returned with the hairs on a tissue for all her classmates to see.On our senior field trip, the same teacher brought his 12 year old son along for the overnight excursion. He said, “If you kiss my son, you are guaranteed an A in my class.” I did not take him up on the offer….I got a B.Our class created the annual yearbook for the school. One year, Mr. H. found out that a student had made an obscene gesture toward him behind his back. Mr. H. replaced the student’s yearbook photo with a picture of a metal stick man.Had anyone reported the grotesque punishments, he/she would have been ostracized. Although Mr. H. had vulgar antics, he also had a sort of cult following. So, not only would the teacher find a way to get even, such as the stick man incident, his devoted students would have made life hell for whoever told what went on in that class.Sometimes I think, “I just happened to witness Mr. H.’s immoral behavior, but how many other similar situations happened over the years that have gone untold?” I wonder.

In India,more emphasis is applied upon the theoretical aspects of the different subject matter related to humanities stream. It is the only stream of education in India which still need a lot of development and also erase certain prejudices attached to the stream.The subjects such as Political science, English, Sociology,Economics, History, languages are taught by resorting to the traditional method of class interaction, study of books prescribed,writing articles (optional) and appearing for examinations. Geography is is the only subject where emphasis upon practical nuances of the subject matter is given. Activities ranging from field trip, excursions to various geographical locations and study about different geographical aspects of that place and designing a project based upon the findings, learning map pointing, creating geographical models and many other activities. Also in certain institutions Physical Education is taught under the humanities stream which engages the students into various exercise, yoga, games and other health enhancing activities.Humanities is undoubtedly an interesting stream which gives space to the students to think out of the box and enhance their knowledge.

Depending on the sensitivity a person has and their overall health, one little peanut can cause an allergic reaction. And even if you haven't previously had an allergy the body can react. A reaction can't be predicted unless you have had a previous reaction, an attack can come on suddenly and severe. My sister could not have ANY peanut products in the house, not even in sealed packages. Just the whiff of peanuts and his throat would start to get itchy. He once ate some crumb cake and complained to my sister of his throat hurting - she initially dismissed it but when he complained more my sister checked the package the cake came in and there were nuts in the crumble topping. When she called the company they said it was about 1% of the ingredients, but that was enough to trigger his body's reaction.And my other nephew lost a schoolmate when they were on a field trip after eating I believe just one or two peanut butter sandwich crackers. They were on the bus returning from an excursion and the teacher passed out some packages of peanut butter crackers. One student started coughing and choking. They were far from home in an unknown city and by the time emergency personnel could get to them the child had died from anaphylactic shock. In talking with the family, the child had never had an allergic reaction to peanuts before, even ate peanut butter occasionally. The reaction was violent and sudden.Peanuts are extremely dangerous to children. Children's allergies overall have dramatically increased in the last 40 years, and food allergies increased 50% from 1997 to 2011.I've added several sources for information, I already had most of this information, as I have severe allergies and had to do my own research to help myself and my sister's kids. Interestingly, I'm tolerant of peanuts - allergic to trees, grass, pollen and everything else you might imagine, and thankfully don't eat a lot of peanuts.
