Is Pakistan more developed than Vietnam?

No. Pakistan is far less developed than Vietnam. Now I’ll write a detail answer. People say figures don't tell a lie, let's have a look at some main indicators of development.GDP per capita: Pakistan (PPP, 2016) = $5,084 vs Vietnam (PPP, 2015) = $6,414. For GDP per capita on nominal basis, the difference is even more dramatic: Pakistan (nominal, 2016) = $1,427 vs Vietnam (nominal, 2015) = $2,321.Human development index: Pakistan (2014) = 0.538 (low, 147th) vs Vietnam (2014) = 0.666 (medium, 116th)Gini (income disparity): Pakistan (2008) = 30 vs Vietnam (2005–2013) = 35.6. All medium.Life expectancy taken from WHO report 2013: Pakistan = 66 years (141st) vs Vietnam = 76 years (55th)Literacy rate taken from UNESCO report 2015: Pakistan = 58.7% vs Vietnam = 94.5%Freedom of movement: In 2016, holders of a Pakistani passport can visit 29 countries visa-free or with visa on arrival, ranking the Pakistani passport 103rd, and the 2nd worst in the world (below Iraq and above Afghanistan). Where as a Vietnamese citizen can travel to 47 countries visa-free, ranking the Vietnamese passport 90th in the world. If you ever visit Vietnam, observce the infrastructure, the rapid development and the peace in Hanoi & Saigon. They beat out Lahore and Karachi marginally.Regional-wise speaking, I think Pakistan’s state of development is comparable to Laos or Cambodia. Vietnam is more suitable to compare to India and the Philippines.

Despite being the world's third largest economy, is it logical to keep India in the category of developing countries?

My first response to reading this question was laughing out loud.Let us Imagine I come and tell you that my family made Rs 2,00,000 last month, the same as that of my neighbor. While on the face of it, that seems like a lot of money and it would be quite tempting to declare both me and my neighbor to be equally wealthy, it would be terribly stupid to do so, ignoring that my family has 20 people in it, while my neighbor’s family has only 2.Taking the number of people in the family into account, it would mean my neighbor is 10 times as wealthy as me. It would even mean that many other two-person families who make just Rs 1,00,000 a month or Rs 50,000 a month can rightly be considered more wealthy than my family. This math has always been the bane of countries like India with a large population. Our economy on an absolute scale has a lot of money, but when that money is divided by the huge population we have, it makes all of us end up with a microscopic slice of the pie and that collectively makes us; the people quite poor when compared to other countries.(By Rossenne - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, File:GDP per capita (nominal) 2015.png)In fact, the picture above would suggest India ranks somewhere between poor and abysmally poor when it comes to per capita GDP and that fact rightly earns us the ‘developing’ tag, and places us quite far away from the ‘developed’ tag.Footnote: This answer discusses the per capita GDP approach to classifying developed economies. Other classification approaches such as evaluating industrialization, Human Development Index, etc also exist, but using them instead wouldn’t change the answer much as India ranks in a similar terrible fashion in these other approaches too.
