PDF Editor FAQ

Why are the Republicans so obsessed with birth control and pro-life?

They are pro-forced-birth because back in the 70s/80s they discovered it was a great way to make the Christian community vote Republican. Prior to that, there was a general consensus among most faith leaders to stay out of politics.

Is Fox News right that many Christians are persecuted for their faith in the US?

To be blunt, NO.I am a Christian. For a long time I was even an Evangelical (I’m not anymore, but that’s a different story). I would ask any “Christian” who thinks they are persecuted to try being a Muslim in this area of western Kansas where 3 local men were just convicted of planning a bombing of a Muslim housing project in a small, nearby “Christian” community. I would ask them to ask the Mormons I knew while going to high school and college in Utah and are often accused of “not being Christians”. I would ask them to ask the atheists in southern states who face regular retribution anytime they criticize the misbehavior of “Christians”. I would ask them to ask the non-Evangelical Christians who are regularly called “fake Christians” because they don’t believe the Bible is 100% inerrant despite clear contradictions and scientific inaccuracies. Finally, I would ask them to really look at themselves and ask if their power-driven, capitalism infused, discriminatory faith policies are really undeserving of criticism or challenge. As the grandson of a “liberal” minister, I can tell you that he was a far closer example of living like Jesus than any of the evangelical, fundamentalist Christians who have hijacked the Christian faith in the United States.Being challenged and/or criticized for the policies you support specifically because “your faith demands that” is NOT persecution. It’s a demonstration of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution in action. And contrary to the belief of the politicized evangelical Christians in the United States, we are not a Biblical nation (regardless of the source of our values), we are a nation ruled by the Constitution. And if your faith drives you to want to replace the Constitution with Biblical law (as called for openly by some), you deserve criticism because you are working against our Constitutional system and against the United States.

How come pastors usually travel to Israel and India but never Egypt? Are they afraid that Egypt has too many occult attributes and that it's a demons hangout or something?

I suspect that Egypt is not a safe place to proselytize. It has nothing to do with demons. It's about antagonizing the locals. Also, some Muslims regard leaving the faith as a death penalty offense. This is not fertile ground for missionaries.Egypt already has a Christian community of its own, one of the oldest in the world. I doubt that they would be enthused about European or American ministers trying to tell them how to worship either.
