The only legitimate argument would be if this wasn’t the case and he did it at a full meet with other events.But let’s look at how things went down:1: Eddie set his record a few years ago in Leeds, which is not far from Eddie’s home gym2: Thor was going to set the record in Dubai at a WSM meet but Covid-19 shut everything down3: Thor changes the venue to a gym in Iceland, not even his home gym, out of necessity from the pandemic4: Eddie whines and complains about how he’ll try to cheat and actually said some sorta racist stuff about not trusting the Icelandics and what they’ll try to pull. Eddie says it won’t be a legitimate record unless it’s at an official meet.5: Thor then says he’ll pull 520kg if the 501kg feels good, and says he won’t fall down afterward either (Eddie famously collapsed after the lift, he stupidly held it at the top for five seconds or so and all the pressure inside of his body did a number on him. He was in and out of the hospital for 3 weeks after this)6: Today Eddie posts on twitter that he’s looking forward to Thor’s lift today and that he wants to see him do it in official competition.7: Thor has an official judge present, has the weights individually weighed before loading onto the bar, and is kept to a 15 minute time limit between events. Basically he simulated a meet as best as he could - it was a meet without a crowd.8: he hits the lift and as far as I’m concerned, is the world record holder for an equipped deadlift (they wear deadlift suits and straps in WSM and are allowed to hitch, they just can’t pull sumo)Supposedly now there’s going to be a boxing match between the two. I guess Eddie has a history as a scrapper but I have no clue how good of a fighter he is, or Thor for that matter. If that’s what they need to do to squash this beef then fine.
