Am a senior citizen and have been involved with mentoring underprivileged and under served children since over two decades. Based on my personal experience over 20 years I would say :It is a really good and appreciable gesture on your part to celebrate the birthday of your friend by arranging a dinner for them and you wish to give individual gifts too. Wish more people think like you and your friend.There are many many things you can do to make the day memorable for them.arrange for a magic show session.arrrange for a person dressed as a clown or something funny to move around and joke with them.arrange a story telling session.Crafts and needle works. A session say 2 hours to make dolls , objects, posters for their rooms.Colourful books for their libraryPresent the institution with chess boards, games, ( indoor)Present them with items like football for group games. ( outdoor)Arrange for latest Bollywood music and let them dance. They will love it.Remember to take ‘selfies’ and photos . They will like it and will enable you to walk down the memory lane, some day.The number of children or budget alloted has not been mentioned by you, Nor if the children are boys or girls or both.So choice can be fromtoffees/ chocolatesbiscuit packetspencils/ pensnotebooks, coloring bookstrinkets for girls, kerchiefsFunds PermittingColourful T shirts They will love them ( check on sizes first)For girls younger ones will also wear T shirts. Older ones as dresses, scarvesIf in the hills or in north India jackets ( if winter).An outing. Two hour drive through the city in a bus or a picnic ( with packets of namkeen , biscuits and soft drinks).DO NOTDO NOT Make a cake in your name, light it with candles and cut it with ‘‘Happy Birthday….’ song chorused by your friends and relatives. It will be a gross expression of arrogance. Remember these kids never have Their birthdays celebrated. It is bound to make them feel sad.I have suggested based on my expierence pl.All the best for your friend on his / her birthday, with many many more to be celebrated in a similar fashion.

I have already shared it in another answer. But it was an incomplete story. So completing it now.We were engaged in 1971 and wedding took place in 1972 more than one year after engagement.During this period we would write lot of letters. He wanted me to send one photograph at least once in fifteen days. That was too frequent in those days.Luckily my younger brother had the hobby of photography and he would use my family camera( very basic model analogue one) to take photographs.So I was holding that photo in my hand to send it to him.So below is the reproduction of my old answer What are some romantic arranged-marriage stories?That was January 1st 1972. I was frustrated. There was no letter from him from one week.What might have happened?In those days there were no cell phones, not even a land line in my house.(Those who did not read, this is for your reference: Vijaya Lakshmi's answer to How was your marriage arranged?).I was expecting a new year greeting from him on 31st December. January 1st being a holiday, there was no hope of receiving any letter.When I was absent minded sitting and browsing a magazine I heard a shout from outside.“Post man” I could clearly hear now. I ran to the door wondering how there would be a letter on a holiday.There stood post man with a very fat big envelope.“Are you Vijaya Lakshmi?”“Yes”“Express delivery, please sign here” said the postman handing me the form.I signed and received the post.(express delivery is a postal system, where letters would be delivered even on holidays. For this, almost double the amount for normal letters will be charged from the sender. I don’t know if this system is still there)I was very happy that he had sent an express delivery letter, so that it would reach exactly on new year. From the size of the cover I could guess that it was a big greeting card.A big greeting card and a fat letter! I was excited.But as soon as I saw the envelope my happiness vanished. The hand writing on the cover was not his! It was some unknown hand writing.My heart skipped a bit. Who would write such a big letter to me?With trembling hands I opened the envelope. Inside the cover there was a packet wrapped in a white paper and there was another small piece of paper folded in half.I opened the paper. It was not him. Somebody else.“Madam I thought it is my duty to show you the real image of your fiance. He poses very decent before you, but if you open the packet I enclosed, you will see that he is not as decent as you think” that was what written on the paper.My heart started to beat fast. I did not open the packet for five minutes.I could easily guess there are some photo prints in that packet.After five minutes I opened the packet. As I had guessed there were bunch of photos.On backside of the first photo it was written “see the pose for bicycle advertisement”I turned the photo and saw ‘him’ holding a bicycle.On backside of the second one it was written “see the the pose for turkey towel/tooth brush advertisement”And there he was standing with a towelThere were four more photos with similar comments on back of each photo.In the middle of the bunch of photos, I could see a greeting card.On that greeting card I could see his handwriting with new year greetings.There was a small letter inside the greeting card.“How is the surprise? Ha ha ! Another hand writing you saw is also mine. Do you know that I can even write with my left hand too?”These are some of those photos: 1. Advertisement for bicycles 2. Towels/tooth brush 3. Wrist watch (I am not sharing others)The same night I had to return to Hyderabad where I was studying B. SC I thought of replying to the letter after I reached Hyderabad.In Hyderabad when I went college, I told about this letter to one of my best friends (Bharati).“So what are you going to reply?”“Usual stuff and thinking of sending this photo” I showed her the photo.“Don’t you want to have a tit for tat?” She asked laughing mischievously.“But what can I do?”She then devised a plan. As per that plan she wrote a letter in her handwriting to him.“I don’t know what happened to Vijaya from the time she returned from Vizag. She is very gloomy and told me that she is thinking of cancelling the marriage. After insisting she told the reason. It seems she received a letter from an anonymous person who enclosed some indecent photos of yours. She burnt all those photos without opening the packet. Now I don’t know what to do. I am staying in the hostel. Please reply to my address given below and advise me what to do”Within two days I received another express delivery letter .Without opening the packet why have you decided to take such drastic decision? Don’t you know how much I love you? That was nothing but some fun game.……………………Then I replied in my letter.Do you think only you can play some pranks? We girls too can do that. I actually saw all those photos and the greeting card. And how could you believe that I would trust some anonymous person more than you? Even if there were some horrible photos, I would have discussed about them with you and take a decision. Now you can have my photo. ………………..So that was the story of tit for tat :)

I ordered a phone (Redmi k20 pro) from FLIPKART worth Rs24,999 on 23rd June,2020. The package was first delivered to me on 25th June,2020. At that day i was not at home and my nephew returned the order as he was unaware about it. When i got to know about this i placed a reattempt request to Xpressbees(the courier company). Next day the order came at around 5pm in the evening. The delivery boy took a photo of my id, handed over the parcel and walked away quickly.Just after sanitizing the product from outside (Covid Pandemic Days), when I opened it, I found that the phone box seals were broken and the phone and data cable were missing (only phone case and charger were there). I was blank for a moment as it happened to me the first time and I was buying such expensive phone (for me at least) for the first time in my life.When I looked at the packet again carefully, I noticed a cut in the middle of the packet which was pasted from inside by a tape of Xpressbees and fevi-kwik. (Notice it in the photo just above the white slip pasted in the middle of the packet)I quickly called the on the number of the delivery partner which i got on text (it was the boss of the delivery boy), I told him the case. His boss came, took some photos of the packaging and went away saying that they will check the footage and then inform me about it.I called flipkart immediately and informed them about the same, they told me that they are raising a return complaint but will investigate about it and it will take upto 15 days. (They tell this to every such complaint)I made a video of the product and shared it on twitter and asked all my friends to retweet it. I kept doing it every day. Posting update on twitter, tagging Flipkart and Xpressbees.On 5th day i got a call from Xpressbees that their delivery boy did this (in that 1 day window on which the product was returned) and they have my shipment with them. I was being asked, if i want the refund or product. On the 7th day i got the refund in my account.:)Points to be noted:Always try to check the product immediately in front of the delivery boy, no matter how rude or ignorant he is. Make him stop and check the product there only.ALWAYS MAKE A UNBOXING VIDEO. If possible make it in front of the delivery boy.Always use call recorder for every conversation in such incident and always ask the name of the executive.Try to ask for everything in written(mail) whether any promise or affirmation about anything.Lastly, be patient and and try to make pressure through every possible social media platforms by tagging the companies and their bosses.Always file an FIR at the very first instant as the phone is registered in your name.If nothing works then the consumer court is your last option and you will be surely heard there (so dont lose hope).Good Luck!
