Most ammo purchases can be anonymous. I can order online and have thousands of rounds delivered. Texas doesn’t much care. California does, they demand a background check for every purchase. If you want to buy 3 calibers at one time, that’s 3 background checks. Seriously, they’re that demented.Guns? Retail? Nope, never going to be anonymous. There will be a NICS check (unless you have a carry permit from the 22 states - as I recall the number - that can use that instead of a NICS check), and that check has your name, but not the type of gun. There is the 4473 form required by the federal government and applies to all states and territories that has all your ID information AND the type and serial of the gun. It’s kept by the seller. But there is nonetheless a document with your name and the specific gun(s) you bought on it. In other states you will need a permission slip from the state, like the FOID card in Illinois, to buy a gun, and that’s before the NICS check. In CA there is a 10-day wait while the state validates that you can actually have that gun, so they have a registration system there.In other words, live in a free state like FL, OK, TX, AZ and many others, it’s going to be as anonymous as the Federal government (who requires the 4473) will allow. In MD, CA, NJ, CT, MA and some others, not hardly.Private sales are not retail, so I won’t go into them here.

An ultrasound indicated that the fetus's head was too large for a natural birth, so the doctors strongly recommended a C-section operation.However, her family refused to give consent.Ma pled with her family at least three times, even falling on her knees, to allow her to have a C-section so that her excruciating labor pain could be somewhat alleviated. Her family firmly denied her request again and again, until the point where the doctors decided that she was far into labor to safely start a C-section operation.Two hours later, when the medical staff were busy tending to other pregnant women in the ward, Ma slipped into an empty ward on the fifth floor and jumped from the window. Both she and the unborn child were killed.Her family denied her request for C-section for unspecified reasons. Some say that they refused to give consent to the operation because a natural birth would be beneficial to the baby and make the second pregnancy easier, while some say that the family was concerned about the cost of the operation.Ma and her husband came from one of the most poverty-stricken regions in China. Thus, ideas linked to childbirth are much less progressive.After this news hit the national headline, Ma's family attempted to tell a different version of the story in which they granted Ma's request for a C-section, but the hospital had no record of their permission.I was born by C-section. I knew first-hand that in less progressive times people encourage natural birth at all cost. They want their baby to be absolutely perfect, since one-child policy limits the number of children per household.For the past two decades, I've heard numerous people saying that babies born by C-section tend to be less intelligent because “their head wasn't pressured in the birth canal”. “Would a person have to have a police check before purchasing a firearm in the USA or just walk into a store?”Most states in the US do not require “permission” to buy a gun (that is what you are asking isn’t it?). That you go to law enforcement and ask “pretty please” can I buy a gun?…There are however, a few that do… MA, MD, NJ, and IL all require you to do this (there are probably others as well). But even in these states, you do not “need permission slips” to walk into a store… but you need one to walk out with a gun.All states have some version of having a “background check” performed when you buy a gun at a gun store. This is a federal requirement - not a state one. Note: the “background check” is done to protect the FFL (Federal Firearm License) dealer - it has never been shown to “protect” anyone else.I live in a state (PA) that requires only the latter (background check when the purchase is actually made). We do have some other goofy laws regarding transport of a firearm, “emergency orders”, and providing “registration” data to law enforcement when a handgun is purchased (illegal under state law - but they do it anyway)…So the answer is… NO. In most of the USA a “police check” is not required to walk into a gun store. And nobody actually thinks it should be.
