What is your success story for the NEET aspirants?

Warning! Long answer ahead—I scored 676 in NEET UG 2018 with an AIR 13 (UR 11)I would start from class 10….actually I was from WBBSE (not CBSE) and got 95.86% ,coming 13th in State .From the very beginning I was known to many ones as a studious guy with a good conceptual mindset and this result was actually a bit disappointing to me … However as the +2 course is really vast and the time is relatively shorter , I started class 11 with pretty high determination .Ok,let u know some strange facts about myself—Unlike many medicos , I had not any typical passion for this field at the beginning . I had also maths ; cleared NTSE STAGE 1 and 2 …I had literally no classroom coaching in Class 11….only had Aakash dlp series and had not so much idea about the success of Allen right then (Believe me I’m not joking).Even it is more hilarious that in 11 my preference order in subjects were :Chemistry>Maths>Physics>Bio…so u can imagine how frustrated I was …When I went to the exam center for NTSE Stage 2,I first came to know about KVPY SA, self-studied for the rest months and got selected for interview … and secured an AIR 284 in KVPY SA 2016–17( it is not so decent but enough to fetch a seat in IISC,Bangalore and with coaching and proper guidance I’m sure it would be better)I had not attempted a single full-length practice test in whole 11,except some part-tests in a local coaching center, total 11 was invested in concept building and application through problems ,NCERT BIOLOGY IS THE BIBLE FOR NEET— who doesn’t know it! And I neglected it whole 11…rather practising 18k questions in a month xDHowever, hopefully till the end of 11, I strenghtened the concepts in Physics and Chemistry,by practising from preferred books,…First forward to 12, and I slowly grew interest in Bio ! Thanks to my new Biology teacher. He first made me understood how much important NCERT is for NEET ; and from this time I actually started reading NCERT Bio line by line, word to word…. (pretty late huh! ).He first said me about the Allen Online Test Series and I joined it…my preference order changed :Chem>Bio>Physics>Math. But still the problems and distractions didn’t leave—I attempted first minor test on 28th December 2017!!! The time between the commencement of Class 12 and the month of November was possibly the hardest time for me….I was without any kind of motivation ,spent hours after hours solving problems in Chemistry (almost addicted to organic and physical ) ,still to finish inorganic ;Bio starts becoming boring than ever with the entrance of Ecology and that Chapter 8 : and most unnaturally optics was trying immensely to minimise my love for Physics. Meanwhile attempted NSEC,NSEP,NSEB but could not qualify ( I still regret ) .In that Allen test ,scored 630/720 with a rank 12… completely dumbstruck to see people scoring full 720!In the 2nd one , got 660 with a rank 10 … but in 3rd , sudden drop to 570 and a rank beyond 50!!! in 4th the scenario worsened… same number and a rank >100! I understood that I had to brush up the concepts..mainly in Physics of Class 11….Almost a month passed— attempted the 5th with Ecology in Bio Part … got 660 with rank<10 , hardened the preparation… 680 with rank <5 in the 6th and thats all before the boards … without still a major testThe boards went and me: Abe ab to major wala de , 4 hafta hi baaki hai bc .. the WBJEE was on 22nd April (meanwhile I attempted 2–3 more minors) and I was thinking of not attending the exam. It was also a Allen All India Open Test on that day..Although I had not enough preparation to sit for the exam ,it was far better than WBJEE at least ;-p . So at last I attempted the Allen wala , got 575 with a rank near 150 .the major turning point .Started severe preparation ,working my ass off.. next All India Open Test ,marks nearly same ,rank worsened .One week left…The most memorable week of my life till date ..from 6 Allen minor tests before boards ,ended up completing the total test series except the quarter tests ,, gave 10 tests (mainly major) in 6 days … slowly the marks increased and the ranks lowered .I still remember the final test which I gave on the day before the D-Day and I got 650/720 in my last preparation test. The D-Day : after exam , checked the answer key of Allen— Score showing 671 , CBSE Answer key released : 5 more in Physics :676 ,Result Day : expected AIR <50 ,got 13… Got MAMC,New Delhi in the counselling .So I had many distractions in this 2 years ,and I am from such a town where many ones simply don't know the difference between NEET and AIIMS admission ,but at the end of the day my self-study made me successful in my mission, with literally no coaching .Some points worth mentioning -I had not attempted too many tests-it doesn't mean I was not preparing hard . Till December 2017, the books were my real friends and the tests thereafter made me aware of the grade of my preparation and indicated the need for development.I still regret for not studying NCERT Chemistry textbook for the last 3 chapters ( I read them from others) otherwise the Polymer Question might not get wrong :-pOops, soo long , however it's my first answer in Quora. Sorry for any Grammatical mistakes . Edits are welcome. Finally all the best to all future NEET Aspirants

Which medical test series is better, Allen or Aakash?

I had appeared for both the test series, therefore I consider myself apt to answer this.I’ll try to elucidate this popular question by comprehensively explaining the pros and cons of both. However, these are strictly my personal views. And I believe that the reader must read other answers as well, and then arrive at a decision.Allen Vs Aakash test series.Biology- Both of them are equally good, booth of them contain around 70 questions from NCERT and 20 from their respective DLP. Allen=Aakash.Chemistry-Aakash asks more questions based on exceptions in organic chemistry. Inorganic in my opinion is slightly tougher in Allen. Physical chemistry is of the same level in both. Allen is slightly more prevailing than Aakash.Physics- Allen’s physics is more on the tricky side but solvable just in time. Aakash physics is LENGTHY and slightly less trickier than Allen physics. So Allen physics is more NEET like and Aakash Physics is more AIIMS like.Ease of solving- Allen tests can be solved well before time, but Aakash tests are comparatively lengthier. In NEET, you’ll be able to complete the paper before time. So Allen wins again here.Syllabus- Talking strictly about tests in class 12th. Allen minor tests include both chapters of 11th and 12th which is helpful in automatic revision. But Aakash, first completes the 12th and starts with 11th. Allen>AakashAnswer keys.- You’re immediately provided with answer keys after the end of Allen tests with solution of tough questions and you can email mistakes you found in the question paper to Allen. In aakash, answer key and detailed solutions of all questions are uploaded after 24 hours along with video solution. You don’t get the facility to send suggestion for paper rectification, but then they’re almost errorless. Here I find Aakash better than Allen.Results- Results of Allen tests are available after a week of the test and that of Aakash is available after 2 weeks. Allen>AakashCompetition- Allen conducts separate test for DLP students which does not coincide with what the students actually studying at Allen are giving(except all India open tests). On the other hand, Aakash has the same set of questions for both classroom and distance students, which lets you understand better where you stand. Here I guess Aakash> Allen. My personal conclusion.Allen is better because it’s more NEET like, which is what you ultimately need. It’s always good to enrol for both the test series to allow a wider exposure. But if their exists, financial and/or time constraints, I’ll suggest Allen tests over Aakash. Some other answers written by meVibhas K. How many scored above 300 in biology on the NEET? What was the strategy? What sources did you use other than NCERT? What are some tips?

Although NTA did not release subject wise scores in NEET 2019 result, still, I calculated my subject-wise marks from my OMR sheet and answer key. So, in biology my score was 335/360. The paper was easy and was heavily based on NCERT. I could have scored more if I would not have committed several silly mistakes in the heat of the moment. Anyways, silly mistakes are almost inevitable in any exam.Talking about my strategy:I studied NCERT thoroughly. But, being a dropper, I knew that to cross the score of 300, you cannot just be dependent on NCERT...and neither should you study Truman's or Pradeep or Dinesh-like fat books, if you want to crack NEET.So, I went for the summary given in a marvelous book named “ mtG NCERT at your fingertips”. A lot of important points are given in the “SnapShots” section of this book which are out of NCERT and are frequently asked in the exam. Moreover, I also studied only the important points from ALLEN DLP modules. You cannot score good without practice. So, for question solving I went for “mtG previous year chapterwise solutions” books of NEET, AIIMS as well as JIPMER. I also solved “mtG NCERT at your fingertips” and questions from “ALLEN DLP modules”.That was my preparation strategy for biology. Now, some tips for the upcoming aspirants:For biology, complete your NCERT line by line. Read the important chapters multiple times but do not read the whole book 5 to 6 times. Save time for physics and chemistry. The questions asked from physics and chemistry are way harder. So, prepare well for these subjects. As I mentioned before, to save time for physics and chemistry, please avoid reading dumbell-like books such as Truman's, Pradeep or Dinesh. Please, do not memorise the complete Krebs and Calvin cycle they teach you in coaching modules. Instead, focus on NCERT for those parts and solve previous year questions. To score more, just read some important highlighted points from coaching modules and read summary from reputed books. Don't waste time reading whole coaching biology modules. They contain way too much of useless information.Solve as many questions as you can, especially the previous year questions of all the medical entrances especially of NEET, AIIMS and JIPMER. Since, only one exam would be conducted from this year, this point becomes all the more important. If your syllabus is incomplete, then switch to solving questions and learn from them. Do not waste time reading the theory till the end. Be battle prepared by practicing the questions.Join any test series of good reputation, preferably Aakash or ALLEN and be regular in giving them.Stay motivated during the preparation. Being a two times dropper myself and preparing without coaching, I very well understand the importance of motivation. Just believe in yourself and just believe that good times would come one day and delve deep in your preparations to make you dream come true. All the Best to all the NEET 2020 aspirants!!Thanks for reading.

Samantha was great. It took some perseverance looking for the mysterious fix. It was a difficult nut to crack, mostly because it took us time to find out I didn't have the right software to complete the process (a compatible video player). She couldn't see that until we shared my screen. After that discovery, she continued to help me set it up. Unfortunately, I am still not able to make a GIF, but Samantha hung in with me even when she could feel my frustration. I appreciate her help.
