Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra all made their film debut with the 2012 film Student of the Year. While Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan have cemented themselves as A-list actors in the industry post SOTY, Siddharth Malhotra has not managed the same.The reasons for this are-While all three actors released their second films in the year 2014, Siddharth did not see the same success with Hasee Toh Phasee as the other two. Varun gave a hit with Main Tera Hero and Alia Bhatt’s nuanced performance in Highway received very high praise. This already placed them as more viable options for future projects.Siddhart did deliver a super hit with Ek Villain in 2014 but he didn’t build on the film’s success with his future projects as Brothers and Baar Baar Dekho failed to gain an audience.Varun and Alia also made a smart choice to recreate their chemistry in the hit film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania when SOTY was still fresh in the audience’s mind which led to the making of the super hit film Badrinath Ki Dulhania.You have to account for the fact that Alia and Varun, being star kids already had an advantage in terms of availability of opportunities over Siddharth. He was definitely had to prove himself more as his name itself would not get him future projects.Siddharth’s biggest weakness is his inability to discern a good script from a bad one. He does not make the smartest choices regarding the films he chooses as evidenced by his recent string of flops, Baar Baar Dekho, A Gentleman, Ittefaq, Aiyaary and Jabariya Jodi.That being said, his latest film Marjaavaan, which is releasing today appears interesting and hopefully will help revive his career.

I’ve got one!Its no news that sometimes every couple of years, Will Smith makes a project that is somewhat oriented to the golden statue, and there is nothing wrong with that, in some cases we got good films like The Pursuit of Happyness, Concussion or Ali.Don’t get me wrong, I like Will Smith as much as the next guy, but then we get Collateral Beauty…Oh what a mess of film!First lets talk about the first trailer, it largely mislead the audience:The trailer largely makes the film appear somewhat dramatic with some fantasy elements, but it is much more than that.And when you compare the trailer to the actual synopsis of the film, you start to understand why the film was somewhat of a big failure.“Howard Inlet, an advertising executive, becomes depressed post the tragic death of his young daughter Olivia. His business partners hire actors to prove his mental illness and take over his company.”Not only does the trailer and synopsis have very different stories, but entire different tones. Oh did I mention how ridiculous the plot is? How convoluted and over complicated it becomes, and with an ending that doesn't justify anything and a very on the nose pretentious and preachy tone.It all feels to meh, so cynical, so fake. The emotions and lessons it tries to convey feels articificial, trying to get the audience to feel things without having the skill to do it.You mix some Academy Nominated actors, release it on December. Add the producer of Academy Winner film Spotlight, and it is very obvious what this film is aiming towards.It was universally panned by critics, having 14% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an average score of 3.56/10.I think the Critic Consensus sums it up nicely:Don’t get me wrong, Collateral Beauty is not the worst film ever, it has good acting, I laughed at some of how ridiculous the plot gets, it has some good life lessons, but I can’t help seeing it as an extremely Oscar baited film, that failed miserably.Thank you for reading!

Here’s one for me…. It goes like this (though it varies state to state…and country to country)as a local 44 asst prop master I am cleared to distribute and educate actors using small arms (handguns) and semi automatic rifles.my boss, the prop master is a licensed/permitted weapons armorer …. Under his license/permit ( a EFP…… entertainment firearms permit) and as his employee and responsibility I can distribute and educate proper handing of but not restricted to fully automatic weapons… and weapons deemed by California as “illegal weapons” I.E guns with magazines of a capacity over 10rds. Sawed off shotguns (very popular with films) to a Gatling gun if it’s called for.to be a armorer you need a SPOTLESS criminal record…. And a welded class 5 mobile safe in your car for said weapons. There are only FOUR licensed armorers in Ca…. But they can be contracted from out of state as well.local 44 standard practice is no less than 18hrs safety training and basically every other week there are new regulations and it was our job to keep up with these certification classes…. And get our union books stamped proving we passed these classes…. Or when you start work…. Your department head would get a call from ITASE saying your employees book was not up to date and is NOT cleared for work.the regulations are as strict as they come due to two incidents… first ..Jon Erik hexumUp until Jon here…. Actors held on to their guns LOADED with blanks, juuuust walking around with them where ever…… it was the 70s and 80s….. so add EVERYONE on cocaine.Jon was hitting on a gal when a pa/ad asked him to go back to set…. Jokingly…. He brought the gun to his temple and fired…. The blank fired into his temple and killed him instantlysince then….. when they say “roll sound” we hand them the weapon….. with the safety on…right before they yell action I yell “weapons go hot” and the actor releases the safety…When they yell cut…I yell “weapons down” .and We take it away to reload and shoot again.we also ask the director … “how many rounds do you wish for the actor to fire?” And that’s how many they get.second rule came after this poor fellowBrandon lee.after the crow…. When Brandon was killed by a stray piece of metal from the barrel of a .357 (not a bullet like people say)a blank forces whatever is in the barrel as a projectile …. The gun wasn’t clean and a shard of metal struck his heart.due to this…. Every weapons on set must be cleaned after being fired even once.we have the strictest regulations in the biz…. And it is warranted …. Because people die if we don’t.
