What's the story behind your Quora Profile Picture?

Mine is a crappy photoshop from 6th grade. If you have seen a few of my answers (who am I kidding, I have 7 followers. Nobody sees my content.), you will know that I have included the Putin Fish in a few of them. Let me explain why it exists. It was a normal day in 6th grade, when I got an assignment in science class. We were to research an invasive species and make a poster explaining the effects it has on ecosystems. I chose to research the Northern Snakehead. It is an invasive species of fish here in the US that is found natively in Russia. So I had the brilliant idea to photoshop Putin’s head onto a Northern Snakehead. My slogan was, “Putin wants his snakeheads back.” My teacher liked the idea, an how I added some humor into the project. She liked it so much that she put it on her wall in the classroom. My 6th grade science teacher actually still has that image of a Putin Fish taped to a wall in her room.It was actually a really crappy photoshop. If anyone has used GIMP, they will know that it looks like it's from 2005. The interface is pretty awful. So if you look hard enough at the Putin Fish, you will see that I tried to erase part of Vlad’s head with the eraser tool. However, I didn't know how to change the size of the eraser, so it looks pretty bad. There are a bunch of small bits of the image left over from the area I tried to erase. I've just been too lazy up change it.Nevertheless, I got a good grade on the project.

Who was the worst teacher or professor you've come across? What made him/her the worst?

Oh boy, do I have a few stories to tell.in this year alone, I have two terrible teachers.the first would be my science teacher. I am taking AP Environmental Science, one of three AP classes that I am currently enrolled in. My teacher, Mr. H, has absolutely no clue what he is doing. (For those of you who may not know, AP classes are very advanced classes. You can even get college credit for most of them.)so anyway, Mr. H.He constantly interrupts students in class:Girl: "well if you look at this research I found-"H: "no."basically, he just said "no" right in the middle of her sentence. He also pretends that he knows things when he really doesn't. For example, we were going over one of his (horribly written) quizzes (of which he usually gave us 3–5, over 100 questions in total, each Friday) and we were all working through a math problem. He said something like, "yeah I don't really know how to do this, I'm not a math teacher." Which I thought was funny since he told us earlier that he used to be a math teacher and had degrees in math and history (but, oddly enough, not in science.) anyway, the kid next to me, who I'll call Bernie (I love this kid to death, by the way. He's a senior and the sweetest kid ever) spoke up and explained how to do the problem. Mr. H scoffed and said, "well of course, that's obvious. I totally knew that."he totally did not know that.He also mocks students in class. He teased a girl for often speaking without raising her hand (which I understand can be rude, but the girl just gets really excited about her answers and doesn't really have a filter.)he's not qualified to teach a science class either, as i mentioned earlier, let alone an AP science class. To reiterate, he has a degree in Math and a degree in History, but no degrees (or experience, i gather) in science.he also constantly brags about his own unrelated accomplishments. i understand and support beunf proud of your acheivements, but this guy is seriously tooting his own horn.he's extremely oppionated, in addition, and he's usually wrong. we do these things called case studies, in which we have to read and article of his choosing which is usually biased, about an environmental issue. we then have to answer questions about them. Mr. H constantly assumes that he knows more than every scientist mentioned in the articles. he'll read quotes from scientists in the article in a mocking voice and them laugh and talk about how wrong they are. Students constantly correct him in class.he is OBSESSED with biodiversity. all of our case studies have been about biodiversity. there was one in particular about an invasive species of plant in which he insisted that the invasive species was "increasing biodiverisity" and "definitely not negatively impacting native species."correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's bull.i could go on and on about this teacher and all the stupid stuff he says in class (seriously, Bernie has a google doc that’s 18 and 1/2 pages long filled with all of his stupid sayings, it's hilarious) but for now I'll move on to the next teacher, the dreaded Mrs. G.Mrs G is my AP Junior English (Language and Composition teacher) and before the school year even started I had people tell me how terrible she is. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.bad idea.I've always tried to he a very good student, always tried to please my teachers, but Mrs. G. seemed to hate me from the very beginning. Only a week or so after school started she had us write about a current event of something (I don't really remember.) Anyway, I've always been a pretty sensitive and feelings-focused person, and I guess that kind of bled out into my paragraph. When we got them back, with the grade written on the top, I had gotten a zero. I couldn't understand it. English had always been my best subject. i loved reading and writing, and had worked hard on that particular assignment. why had I gotten a zero? i decided to ask her about it after class. when I did, she took my paper from me and read over it again. once she was done she turned so the words were facing me, pointed to the paragraph, looked me dead in the eyes and said, "I don't care about your feelings."what she meant was, "make sure that you present facts, not opinions."but that was not what she had said.that was not what my ears had heard.as the year progress and (thankfully) draws to a close, she continues to be rude to me and many other students. She needlessly criticizes some parts of my work, while completely ignoring the parts that i actually need help on.she called my whole class stupid and said we wefe unthinking, even though Student M over in the corner is graduating a year early, and many of the kids in her class are taking multiple AP classes.to explain further, she had surprised us with an in-class essay analyzing a piece of writing. we were supposed to analyze the author's persona or something. I don't quite remember. Anyways, the author said a few times in the piece "I am a cripple." Apparently some students had thought that "cripple" was the author's persona, when in reality she was trying to present her self as "strong."Mrs. G lectured all of us, calling us stupid for taking it at face value. she targeted each person in the room with her icy blue eyes as she spoke, her eyebrow ring glinting under the fluorescent lights."her persona was 'strong!'" she said, "did none of you think at all?"she continued to list the things we should have done, making threatening eye contact with me several times. I was hurt and scared. Practically everything she listed I had done in my essay. I even used the word "strong" to describe the author's persona, just like she had. when I talked to my friends in the class later, they had the same story to tell. They too had done almost every thing she said.anyway, she ended her lecture by saying that we would probably all fail the AP exam.that really hit home for me. I have a lot of anxiety about failing the AP test already (not that I really think I will) and I'm pretty sure I cried on my way to lunch. There was also the time that I cried in the class beforehand because I was so terrified to go to her class. I had a presentation that day on a definition essay that I had written, and I was going to use a painting I had done as a visual aide. The only problem was I had forgotten it at home. So, on the way from my A-hour (the class I take before school even starts) to my first hour (Mr. H's class) i called my mom and asked her to drop it off (we lived super close and she's a stay-at-home with all her kids in school so it wasn't a big deal.) she said she would. when i got tp first hour, I realized that I had to dress up for the presentation to. I texted her, and asked her to bring me some clothes, describing the pieces and wanted and the exact location so she can find them easily. I settled in and relaxed for the rest of class, assuming that my mom had seen the text. When I got to my second hour however, my mother texted me saying she dropped off the painting but had not seen the text about the clothes. She said that she was not making another trip and basically blamed me for forgetting in the first place (even though it was a Monday and she's knows that I'm scatterbrained.) I had a breakdown in my second hour (my all-girl choir class) and starting crying. I was panicking, sure that she was going to fail me on this very important project just because I wasn't dressed for a job interview. I was wearing a nice shirt and jeans, but I knew that she would still takw points off. I cried for all of second hour (roughly 55 minutes.) I learned a while ago how to cry silently so it took a while for the other girls to notice, but once they did theh were all very supportive and sweet, reassuring and hugging me. Some of my best friends, who are in my choir class and my English class, managed to calm me down, but I was shaking violently and still on the verge of tears as we walked to Mrs. G's class. I wasn't near the top of the presenting list, thankfully. much to my relief, the first guy on the list, who we'll call Zach, talking about his definition of "physically fit" for over half an hour. we only got three presentations that day, and I was not one of them.Mrs. G makes me cry at least once a week. I truly hate her class.once, after a class discussion on the existance and definition of morality, I heard her talking to another student about the Bible, I chimed in with my beliefs about the Book of Mormon.she basically told me that my whole religion is fake and that I should question everything I believe, despite the poster on her wall that says that all "religions, genders, sexual orientations" etc etc etc are welcome in her classroom. I did not feel welcome.Ok, so to sum up, Mr. H is an idiot (I feel bad using that word, but I can't think of a better one) and Mrs. G is a jerk. They're both pretty narcissistic, and basucally all of my classmates hate their classes.(sorry for any spellings mistakes, I can't type very well on this thing)

How would you lead an alien invasion of earth? In movies, the aliens always attack the major cities first, particularly NYC. Is this a good tactic or should you attack more remote areas and set up base there?

The big problem with invading another solar system in a non-FTL universe is the expense of moving between star systems. Therefore I'd launch something that could construct machines and maybe also personnel from the materials of the target system. This would set up factories in the outer solar system and beginning building stuff until we had enough of a presence to make a move.Assuming my intentions were not purely genocidal, would then send probes to earth to get me as much information as possible. After that I'd make my move. I don't agree with the poster who said nukes or bioweapons wouldn't be used. I might not use them if I cared about keeping human infrastructure but I might not. Also, the problems we have with bioweapons infecting our own might not apply to aliens, who might sufficiently different than us that species crossing pathogens are impossible. (I've had a fantasy about a friendly alien who finds out that a would be bioterrorist is growing smallpox in fertile chicken eggs. He eats the eggs to dispose of the virus.)If I did want to commit genocide and didn't care about occupying earth, I would send as many big rocks as possible toward it with as much velocity as possible. Very messy but it definitely would eliminate industrial civilization and possibly sapient life on Earth.Other than the fact that I'd manufacture invasion materiel in this system rather than launching it wholesale from own, I can't really say what a good strategy for an alien invader would be
