I run a B2B business, so what is the best kind of signage for my office premises?

It might be tempting to seal a deal with a handshake. After all, formalities just slow things down and, as a small business owner, you’ve got countless other things to do with your time. However, when you make a contract, proper documentation will give you and your business solid legal protection should the need arise. While specific business needs vary, below are three common legal contracts you should draw up for your business.Make a Contract: 3 Contract Agreements You Should Have1. Partnership AgreementIf you’re starting or running a business with someone else, you need some kind of agreement in writing. Even if your business partner is your spouse, best friend or sibling, having some kind of partnership agreement in place from the start can be a helpful to figure out the inevitable issues that come up during the course of running a business. The partnership agreement should contain the following:Define who contributes what: Discuss what you and your partner will be bringing to the table in terms of labor, time, cash, property, customers, etc. Who plans on working on the business full-time, part-time or just acting as a silent partner?Define who gets paid what: Outline how profits will be distributed. Will each partner be paid a salary for his or her role in the business? How much? What about any extra profits for the year?Define how decisions get made: What type of decisions require unanimous votes, and what type of daily decisions can be made by a single partner? Discuss these matters upfront and decide what decision-making structure will let your business run the most effectively while making sure that no one feels left behind.Define what happens to ownership interests: Decide what happens if/when someone dies, retires, goes bankrupt or just wants out. Maybe add in a non-compete clause to protect against a partner leaving, taking your customers and setting up a competing business. An Internet search for “partner agreement template” will turn up numerous partnership contracts you can use.Remember that while you may think you’re on the exact same page as your partner(s) today, situations can easily change over the course of a few years. A few conversations and a little administrative work to make a contract at the start can save you major headaches and potential legal battles down the road.2. Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)/Confidentiality AgreementWhenever you’ll be sharing your company’s proprietary information with somebody, you should ask them to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Your company’s proprietary info can be anything from the code written for a mobile app product, your business plan, marketing plan, forecasts or financial numbers, as well as your client and customer list. For example, if you partner with a vendor or freelancer for a marketing project, you should draw up an NDA to make sure your customer list is protected. You can find a sample NDA template from SCORE. As with any template you download from the Internet, you should have it reviewed by your attorney prior to use.3. Independent Contractor AgreementsFor many small businesses, outsourcing to independent contractors is a great way to get some added help, fill a specific need or bring in specific expertise. It’s a flexible arrangement, and you don’t have to pay workers’ compensation, payroll taxes or employee benefits for contractors and freelancers. However, be aware that the IRS is now on the lookout for employers who misclassify their workers as independent contractors to avoid paying payroll taxes, etc.For this reason, it’s smart to make a contract. Create an independent contractor agreement that explicitly defines the relationship between you and the worker. Make it clear that you intend the worker to be an independent contractor who is responsible for his or her own taxes. In addition, the agreement should not exert much control over how work will get done. Don’t set specific hours for when they need to work, or where. While having this agreement isn’t going to protect you 100 percent from an IRS audit or misclassification ruling, it does provide evidence that you intended to hire an independent contractor. For these three contracts, as with any legal formality, it’s always best to invest a little time. Make a contract and get it squared away upfront, rather than waiting until you actually need the contract. By then, it’s typically too late. Talk to an attorney if you have any questions at all or just want a professional set of eyes to review a contract. Your business is worth it.

Is it good to outsource startup project to freelancers?

I have written two Articles on1. 8 Steps to Hire Best Freelance App Developer at Entrepreneur Magazine2. How to Build Your Startup with a Remote Team at iamWire Media8 Steps to Hire Best Freelance App DeveloperMobile is new oxygen; People can live without food but not without mobile.App developers have become invaluable to entrepreneurs and business owners. Fortunately, there are many app developers in the market and finding one to hire isn't hard these days. However, the problem is to find the right fit for your business need. The entire process requires careful thought and consideration. So how to find one who'll add value to your idea? Here are 8 useful steps to assist you:1. Trainee barber can cut your Nose: Don’t hire NewWhen looking for app developers for hire, you should look for a professional. Someone who takes care of the development and also gives input to make product better. Ask whether he has worked on similar domain? any previous experience. If he is new to the development industry then don’t take risk. Old is Gold and New is silver.2. Nothing comes easy in life, even Santa comes with clauses: Get NDA SignedIt is important to choose someone you can trust and build long-term business relationship. Get NDA signed before sharing your idea, you can find NDA format in Google or Ask developer to share his NDA Template.NDA terms are;Not to share your code,Reuse your code,Can’t work on similar domain or idea for 2 years,Can’t work with your competitor,Company or his employees cannot start company using your idea or it’s piece.3. Customer is King and Kings choose best: Don’t look for cheapAll companies have a development budget, and it is understandable to work within that budget. However, you should never let price alone drive your choice of an app developer. Let the product and the quality of the developer's work determine who you hire. In some cases, the cheaper option may turn out to be a waste of money, and they could become more expensive in the long run. The extra costs may apply if the app does not turn out the way you expected it to, and you have to pay another developer to build a new one for you.4. Geeks don’t lie; Show me portfolioThere are many talented developers out there, but their style may be different from what you want for your app. It is important to ask for portfolio before hiring him. When going through his samples, check out the type of user interfaces and their expertise. The portfolio can always help you to determine who is best according to your need.5. When I write a code, only God and I can understand itAsk the developer to give you the contact information of some of his past clients. Contact his previous customers to get feedback on the quality of his work. Talking to former customers can help you understand the app developer's work ethics, his time management skills, and his communication skills. Tell him your future plan like setting in-house team after funding or doing in-house development later. Does he write proper comment and help previous clients to handover code?6. If you do it right, it will last forever; Poor Design doesn't lastWhile the functionality of an app is critical, businesses should not ignore the design. It is important for the app to serve its purpose while being easy to use.Work with developers who put an effort in making the app more interactive and easy to use. It is also important to hire a designer or team with designer who considers the whole package and not just the coding aspect of the app development.Write your idea in doc, use "Requirement Docs" sample format,Do some rough design, it’s ok to have pencil sketch than nothing,Share samples type of design or look for competitive app,Do a bit of research and share the links of the website/App that you like. So that your designers can have better understanding of your likes and dislikes.7. Communication is key and Lock tooHow well the developer communicates with you during the hiring process can give you a glimpse of future. If they do not return your emails on time or respond to your calls or messages, look for someone else. It is important for the developer to give you weekly work progress report. You should have frequent calls initially, later weekly meetings are enough.8. Multitasking improves productivity and slows DeliverySome app developers are very talented in what they do, but they may have many orders on their plate. Such developers may not be able to deliver your work on time. They may also not have the time to update or tweak your app in future. Before hiring the developer, have an honest conversation with him about your expectations. Ask them about their schedule, the number of projects they are currently working on, and how available they are to concentrate on your project. Give them your timeline and deadlines, and ask them whether they can be able to deliver within the set time. No one can give you exact time, approx. estimates are ok.ConclusionIt is easy to find and hire different app developer for different domains. However, it is important that you should have a clear vision of what you want, and then choose an app designer who can help you build your dream.2. We decided to leave work for professionals and focus on things we are best at. We hired 3 NewYork-based freelance content writers who were doing Masters in computers and had excellent communication skills. We got writers at $20 per article, and were super happy.D) Time:You can be an expert in once domain but not in all, decide which is the best technology for your idea like Anguar2, Node, React, etc. Whether a website is enough, or you need a mobile app also? Does your business run with the help of mobile apps? Having a well-designed and operative mobile app is a huge and essential asset for a business. However, you need to find the best app developer who can build your app. How do you ensure you get the best developer for your company? Here are some tips you need to watch out for to avoid frustrations in your business.Tips on how to hire freelance mobile app developer1. Take your time2. Hire the best3. Remember cheap is expensive4. Time frame is key5. Discuss the ownership of the app6. Look at their past works7. Communication is essential8. Ask for proof of their successes9. Seek out referrals10. Self motivated developer11. Understand your needs12. Will your developer use the app?13. Ask for a sampleExtra Precaution while Hire Freelancers onlineThis might seem like a trivial question for a common person, but when it comes to venture startups or business development, this might very well be considered as an issue of significant substance. A freelancer is a person who might not necessarily be committed to a particular organisation but can sell his labour or intellect for his own as well as the company’s benefit. Freelancers if chosen correctly, can get the assigned task in a specialised and prolific manner. It’s not only time saving but economic when it comes to financing management. However, due to the abundance of available freelancers, the question of hiring the most dexterous freelancers becomes paramount. Therefore, these points must be considered while to hire freelancers:-Freelancer’s Portfolio GuinnessThe first and the foremost thing that must be dug about a freelancer should be his portfolio. A portfolio gives a vague picture of what the freelancer’s work is all about. It matters if the freelancer has previously undertaken jobs of similar genre. Even if that’s not the case, his previous jobs could point towards his ability to get this job done. A freelancer having some references by his side is always a plus.Time Bound AgreementStep three on How to Hire Freelancers OnlineOne of the most basic requirements of any company or venture includes that the person or freelancer must be able to deliver his work before the deadline. It doesn’t matter that the work of the person is of utmost quality if it is not being accomplished on time. If the freelancer has no antecedent experience with deadlines, then he can be asked for work samples, before actually hiring him/her.Fair & Clear Payment AgreementsSometimes, the option of hiring cheap freelancers can be very tempting. But doing so could lead to unfortunate setbacks. While deciding on payment terms, there are N number of things that must be noted such as currency conversion, pre-payment and post-payment conditions, what might happen if he is not able to deliver, etc. The final amount that is finalised must be agreed upon by both the parties before starting the work itself. Deciding all such factors on a prior basis not only improves the professional relationship but also steers clear of any possibility of conflicts.Frequency of CommunicationThe hired freelancer might not necessarily be a person of the company’s locale. This gives rise to the importance of medium of communication with the freelancer now and then. Most of the freelancers having some prior experience have solutions to these problems and are ready to communicate via Skype, phone calls or regular mail.Ability to work in a teamIn many of the projects, it is required that the freelancer must team up with the other members to get the job done. This reduces the time required to finish off the task and thus saves a significant amount of money in the process.Legal FormalitiesIt should be made certain that all the legal agreements clearly stating the deadline, confidentiality, reimbursements and other expenses are drawn correctly and that too on time.If you need more feel free to reach me at Mayank Pratap

What was the best JavaScript framework for a specific successful project of yours?

Hi, as a CTO in a software development company I can give you a few pieces of advice about JavaScript frameworks.JavaScript framework comparisonAngular, React, and Vue.js are all JavaScript-based frameworks used to build the front-end part of web applications. Despite the similar purpose, they have certain differences that may influence your choice of tools for your project.Let’s look at the most significant features of Angular, React and Vue.js to see for which projects they are the most suitable.Getting startedWhile choosing the development framework that would be the most optimal for your project, a good practice will be consulting your developers. Their knowledge and experience of a specific technology may be an argument for or against a particular option. However, the starting point is the same for all three frameworks – they are all based on JavaScript, so that is the basic language requirement for front-end development. By the way, theoretically, you can write your front-end in any language, however, browsers accept only JavaScript. Thus, to eliminate unnecessary conversions, it is better to choose a JavaScript-based framework for front-end development. That is where the similarity ends, as all three frameworks are different already at the level of the language syntax which has its impact on the learning curve.Angular uses TypeScript, a superset of JavaScript that is considered a separate programming language. TypeScript has a lot of significant advantages, such as autocompletion and navigation, as well as advanced refactoring possibilities. Those make TypeScript a primary choice for large-scale projects; however, if you do not know it, you cannot jump right in. It takes some serious learning to start coding in TypeScript.React, in its turn, is much easier to grasp than Angular. Although JavaScript-based, too, it also uses an own syntax, JSX, however, nowhere as steep to learn as TypeScript.Compared to Angular and React, learning Vue.js is a breeze. Vue.js works with a template-based syntax that is clear and valid HTML.Thus, any code created in Vue.js can be inserted into an HTML file without any conversions.Speaking of learning, Angular and Vue.js are famous for their excellent documentation, while React lags behind.Framework sizeIn the context of development frameworks, size matters, because it is directly related to the application performance. Both the framework and the app itself need to be downloaded before the application becomes functional. In this respect, Angular is the heaviest of all with 143k. It is followed by React with 43k while Vue.js is the most lightweight – its size is only 23k. Therefore, if your application is not too large and contains no sophisticated components, the recommended way is to choose a smaller framework.PerformanceIn Web applications, performance is directly related to the Document Object Model, or DOM, which represents the web page both in the browser and in the code. Through DOM, web pages can be manipulated in case of any updates.Angular uses the regular DOM with the entire web page re-rendered even if only a single item is changed. That is its Achilles’ heel, as regular DOM significantly affects the performance, especially in single-page applications. Here both React and Vue.js leave Angular behind, as both of them use virtual DOM. It is a copy of the actual DOM where changes are made without affecting the DOM proper. The updated virtual DOM is compared to a snapshot of the regular DOM, and then only the modified components are re-rendered. This approach significantly speeds up the application performance.ScalabilityWith respect to front-end development, scalability mostly refers to the ability to consistently maintain an expanding functionality. Applications are supposed to grow in size and complexity, and the development platform should be able to support such growth. The developers’ community is almost unanimous in saying that both Angular and React prove to be up to the task when it concerns building scalable applications. Angular provides scalability with its modular development structure, while React uses a component-based approach with equally superb results. In the matters of scalability, Vue.js is losing spectacularly, as it uses template-based syntax. In a large application, templates become increasingly more difficult to reuse, as compared to JavaScript components.Developers’ communityThe 2017 Stack Overflow Developer Survey named React the most loved framework among the developers. Being a creation of the Facebook team, it enjoys unparalleled popularity and support. React community now exceeds thirty thousand members, all of them contributing their knowledge and expertise to its development.Angular is traditionally appreciated for its advantages and can boast quite considerable community support. Although, the statistics by bestof.js shows that the initial version of Angular – AngularJS, or Angular 1 – still has much more followers than its later versions.Image credit: BestofJsThe same statistics prove that, despite its advantages, Vue.js is still far from being very popular among the developers. The more people cooperate on the framework functionality, the better it gets and, what’s even more important, the greater its library collection becomes. With React, you are sure to find reusable components of all sorts that have been contributed by peer developers. Therefore, if community support and the availability of ready-made components is critical for you, React may be your best shot.Developers availabilityIf you already have a front-end developer, your choice is much easier. If your developer is an Angular developer – well, you are going to have an Angular project, simple as that.At the same time, team selection is one of the important matters to consider while planning the project. Of course, with the wide popularity of Angular and React, you are much better off finding reputed professionals for either of these technologies than if you opted for Vue.js.Vue.js developers seem to be few and far between; however, with its easy learning curve, a skilled front-end developer will have little trouble learning Vue.js quickly.Depending on your situation, you can either hire in-house or remote Angular, React or Vue.js developers by hunting them through local job portals or freelance platforms (for example, Upwork).Or, you can even hire an entire remote product development team through agencies that specialize in full-cycle product development outsourcing and/or extending your existing team with additional developers in particular technology stack (such as Clutch).Your choice of team will depend on many factors – your location, project budget, NDA requirements, and so on.Of course, there is also a matter of salaries. In this category, Angular developers may be a bit more expensive than those working with React or Vue.js, due to the requirements of TypeScript knowledge. The 2017 Stack Overflow Developer Survey rated TypeScript skills somewhat higher than plain JavaScript.Image credit: StackoverflowAcceptance and adoption by global brandsNo matter how good a framework is, its reputation and popularity still play a key role in its acceptance. Besides, when you build an application on a popular and widely-used platform, its further maintenance and support are going to be much easier.Let’s look at the brands that have adopted each of the frameworks for their front-end. You will be impressed by the names you see in each group:There is also an interesting observation that should be considered if you are planning to outsource software development. As we said already, Vue.js is more popular in Asia, mostly, in China. This trend has its flip side – being less known in the US, Vue.js may be rejected by the US-based customers who would prefer Angular or React for their projects. As you can see, Angular and React have some true global heavyweights among their users, and that gives them an additional “pro” argument. However, Vue.js, despite its geographic popularity being shifted to the Asian countries, is also winning the users’ trust – look at WizzAir and Grammarly that made it their framework of choice.SummaryAs you can see, all three frameworks have their advantages and disadvantages. The choice of the right tool for your project is unique in all cases and highly depends on the particular solution requirements. We summarized the pros and cons of each framework so that you can get a general idea:How to choose the right Javascript framework for your project? We still should answer the big question – when to choose each of the three frameworks? How to leverage their advantages to the maximum? On the basis of the main advantages and disadvantages of each of the three frameworks, we worked out the following criteria that can help you choose the most optimal platform for your project:Choose Angular when:You are about to develop a very large and complex projectYou need easy and reliable scalabilityYou have Angular developers on your teamYou can afford some time for learning TypeScript before the project startsChoose React when:Your project can accept reusable componentsYour project’s front-end is not too complexThe performance and scalability are criticalYou have tight deadlinesChoose Vue.js when:Your project scope is on the small sideYou need high performanceYou have no skilled front-end developers but have team members with JavaScript knowledgeYou do not have much time to learn a new technologyOf course, Angular, React, and Vue.js are by no means the only front-end development frameworks on the market. There are many exciting tools suited for projects of various size and complexity. With the right approach and a bit of common sense, it should not be too difficult to gather the technology stack capable of delivering a great software solution. In addition to front-end development frameworks, there are lots of other JavaScript-based tools on the market.I took information from my article Angular vs. React vs. Vue.js - choosing a JavaScript framework for your project (https://relevant.software/blog/angular-vs-react-vs-vue-js-choosing-a-javascript-framework-for-your-project/), maybe you will find some more useful tips there.
