So ‘major dead Avengers’ would be:Iron ManBlack WidowVisionQuicksilver (he was an Avenger briefly, at least)Heimdall (not technically Avenger, but he was Thor’s ally who died in an Avengers movie so…)These are the only characters that would qualify. Everyone killed in the Snap was brought back, and the other major death - Gamora and Loki - were ‘solved’ using time travel (with the 2014 version of Gamora being brought to the present, and the 2012 Loki escaping with the Tesseract in an alternate timeline, which will form the basis of his Disney+ series).So if they were to be brought back, how could it happen?The first option, which we have already seen, is through time travel. This is not a resurrection - the character we know is still dead - but by plucking a character out of the past, or else altering the timeline, it allows a version of that character to continue existing into the future. The in-universe danger of this, of course, is that either option will change the course of an alternate universe’s future, something that the Avengers were determined to avoid during Endgame - for example, taking a version of Iron Man from just before Infinity War would mean he would survive the event, but that universe would then be doomed to failure, without him there to crack time travel or destroy Thanos’ army.The second option would be using the Infinity Gauntlet. The fully stocked Gauntlet is certainly very powerful - enough to kill (and later resurrect) half the universe in a snap - but there appear to be limits to its power. While Hulk was able to resurrect everyone killed by the Gauntlet, he specifically says that he tried to bring back Black Widow, and wasn’t able to. This would suggest that the Stones can only revive those that were killed by the Stones, and other forms of death are beyond its power (although this may be because Natasha’s death was the sacrifice for the Soul Stone - bringing her back would break the contract).Additionally, we have seen that using the Gauntlet has a massive effect on the user, with Thanos and Hulk (both immensely strong and durable people) being heavily injured, and Iron Man outright dying from the effort. Even if the Gauntlet could revive the dead, it would most likely kill the person to bring them back. Further, the Stones were all returned to the past at the end of Endgame, so they would need to be gathered again to even attempt it… and it’s unlikely the Ancient One would be willing to give up the Time Stone again.The third option would be resurrection via GH.325. While it hasn’t appeared in any of the MCU films, GH.325 was used in the backstory of Agents of SHIELD to resurrect Agent Phil Coulson (killed by Loki during the Avengers) after he had been dead for a number of days. The serum was derived from the blood of a dead Kree in SHIELD’s possession, and Project TAHITI was created as a backup in the case of an Avenger dying. Within the series, the serum was used to successfully save the life of Skye, one of Coulson’s team.The main issue with GH.325 is the effects it has on mental health. While Skye did not suffer this issue due to her unique biology (spoilers…), Coulson was mind-wiped by SHIELD to keep him from breaking down, and all other subjects experienced severe mental deterioration. Applying that to a superhero would be a definite negative.The fourth option would be resurrection (of a sort) through technology. While this would not apply to Black Widow, Quicksilver, or Heimdall, both Tony and Vision could potentially come back this way. Vision, after all, was created by putting JARVIS in a synthetic body. While the Mind Stone cannot be used, Vision could potentially be rebuilt and reactivated - Shuri was confident that with enough time, she could remove the Mind Stone and keep Vision alive, so starting from the ground up should still be possible.As for Iron Man, there is precedent in the comics for Tony operating without access to his body. After a fight with Captain Marvel during Civil War II, Tony was put in a coma and his Iron Man legacy was taken on by Riri Williams, aka Ironheart. During this time, she was assisted by Tony Stark in the form of a ‘techno-ghost’, an AI that was based on Tony’s brainwaves, and exists as a hard-light hologram. Potentially, this could be applied to MCU Tony as well, since we have already seen that he left hologram messages for his family - the seeds are already there, if needed.The fifth option - which I think may come into play in WandaVision - is that Wanda Maximoff could bring back Vision (and possibly others) using her powers. We know that Vision will be featured in WandaVision, despite his death in Infinity War, and details released about the series suggest it will be set in a 1950s American suburb. This suggests to me that the setting of WandaVision will be a created world, allowing Wanda to live a life she can’t have in the real world. Again, there is comics precedence for this. The 2004 storyline ‘Avengers Disassembled’ involves Scarlet Witch’s powers going haywire and causing changes to reality, and was followed by ‘House of M’, where she completely rewrote the world to one where mutants were the dominant race. This resulted in massive changes to the lives of her fellow heroes, including resurrecting people who (in the original timeline) had been dead for years.Potentially, if Wanda’s powers reach the point that she is able to bring back Vision in her created world, then she could resurrect other dead Avengers as well - particularly her brother Pietro.Ultimately, however, there is one constant method to revive dead characters - the writers. If Marvel want to bring back a dead character, then they will create a scenario where that will happen, whether or not it seems possible to us now.
