What’s the saddest “card declined” moment you’ve seen?

Not long ago I had to rush my dog to the emergency vet at the start of a holiday weekend. Long story short, it was determined that she needed surgery urgently to save her life, and that we needed to get this done in the next 24 to 48 hours at most. They wanted to stabilize her a bit rather than doing the surgery immediately, but also because it was a holiday weekend, resources were limited. For those who may not know, vet hospitals typically expect full payment upfront, even if you have pet insurance. It’s not like with human patients where you might be able to get them to send you a bill and then work it out later.I paid them the requested amount for the various testing and symptom management, and she was all set to be monitored and cared for until we could schedule surgery. This basically maxed out the daily limit of my debit card, which I did not realize at the time.Late that first evening, the hospital called me and strongly advised me to come pick her up and transport her to one of their other locations in another city, because they had more resources there and she’d be more likely to be able to get the surgery done sooner and with the “best” personnel. They said if I left her where she was, it likely would not happen until after the long weekend, which was highly risky. So I picked her up and brought her to the other city. Due to COVID, I was not able to go in with her to either hospital, so all communication was basically done over the phone, except during the hand off. It was late Saturday night while I waited with her in the car in a crowded parking lot for someone to come out and pick her up. I knew this may be the last time I’d ever see her since we could not go inside the hospital, but with all the phone calls going on I was not really able to focus on that. Before I knew it that had come out and brought her in.I waited in the car as instructed even though supposedly everything had already been worked out between the two hospitals. But the second hospital essentially treated the situation as though she was a new patient and I was starting over. I re-explained everything and they said they’d call me back to get my payment info. Eventually I started driving home because it was unclear how long this would take and it was around midnight already. So finally they call me and they want a deposit that’s even larger than the original one I’d paid. And this would not even include the surgery costs. I give them the credit card and it’s declined. I know there’s enough money in the account, but I’m still driving home and can’t call my bank to figure out what’s going on. I explain the situation to the hospital and keep asking them if she’s being cared for. She had previously been on an IV receiving fluids and medications as well as close monitoring and had been all set for the night at the other hospital, and now she’s been without care or meds or fluids for a couple of hours due to the transport and them waiting to get her admitted and the money taken care of at the new place. The billing person won’t give me any reassurance that they’ll monitor her or do anything for her until I take care of the payment, so I told her that since I was almost home I’d call the bank and get back to them. Unfortunately, again due to COVID, the bank (a major bank) was closed at that hour, and not even the fraud department was open to help me unblock the card if this was a fraud issue. After doing some google searches I determine that most likely the issue is that I’ve exceeded my daily spending limit. But I don’t know if that limit resets every 24 hours, or if I’d have to wait three days until Tuesday (after the holiday) for that to reset. I called the hospital back and explain the situation. I said that I would call my bank first thing in the morning to see what I could do, that I had the money in the account, and also that I had pet insurance that would eventually cover most of this. I also explained how I had already paid the deposit at their other location and that she had been all set for the next couple of days/nights at that other place, and that it was them who urged me to move her to the new place. I basically begged them not to let her die over a trivial billing issue that was out of my hands. The person on the other end of the line was being very strict, which I guess I understand since otherwise people would take advantage of them, but clearly based on the circumstances I had just been following their directives to move her to the other location (same company). I asked if I could come back and bring a check, but even then that meant it could be another hour before she’d get any care at minimum. But they declined my offer to bring a check. Eventually she started negotiating with me to make a partial payment, but also explained in no uncertain terms that no matter what we worked out at that moment, there was zero chance that any surgery would be done without a full prepayment. We kept lowering the amount of the charge and luckily it finally went through. The total between that and the charges from earlier in the day actually did exceed my daily limit, but fortunately it was enough to cover her for a few hours. She said to call back first thing in the morning to take care of the rest. The next morning I got in touch with my bank and they confirmed that it was a daily limit issue, but could not provide any clarity on when that limit would get reset (i.e. daily or just on business days). Nevertheless what we worked out is that they’d give me a temporary increase on my daily limit for the next 72 hours. I called the hospital back and reached a different person who was more sympathetic and less hardline about it. They let me make a large but incomplete payment. They also informed me that likely the surgery would not be until at least Tuesday. Of course this was of great concern, as every doctor had told me she couldn’t wait that long, and this was the whole reason that I moved her to the other location (so that she could get the surgery sooner). I was informed that if there was an “emergency” then they could do the surgery sooner, but I might have to pay emergency rates for that, especially if it was in the middle of the night. As it turned out, they were able to do the surgery later that day (during the daytime). The billing team was cool with me about making daily payments for a few days until it was paid off. She survived the surgery and recovered well, though I later found out that her condition had been more dire than we had even realized.I don’t know what would have happened that night if we’d not been able to get at least some of that deposit to clear. She told me that there may be financing options available through third-parties, but that I’d have to wait until daytime to figure that out. Dogs seem to have a way of having these emergencies during non-business hours, so sorting through the red tape can be extra challenging.

Does Quora have a limitation on how many answer requests you can send per day? How is it determined?

There is an overall daily limit for requests, in addition to the daily limit per question. The limit per question is shown and updated as you add request to an individual question. The overall daily limit is not shown an you won’t know you’ve hit it until you do, by receiving a message similar to the one shown below.I have only hit the limit a few times myself, and while I haven’t tracked it in detail, it seems as though it will vary from day to day. In the same way that Quora knowingly reduces a user’s per-question limit, I suspect they do the same thing with the overall daily limit. My guess is that if you routinely send hundreds per day, then your daily limit will reduce to 200 or so, whereas if you have a one-time spike you could go to 600 or more. I will leave it to others with more time and interest to test that hypothesis. If your experience differs, you just haven’t sent enough requests yet. Send 300 or 400 more on a given day and see what happens.Note: On 1/15/19: I revised this answer entirely based on a comment by Reba Schneider. This may make previous comments seem out of context.

How do I request an answer to a question after reaching request limit?

It’s not an error or a problem. You have reached your limit and as per the message you will have to wait a while until you can add more A2A requests.Take a break from asking for answers and read/write or do something else. There is a limit of 25 (2018) A2A per question and everyone works with this limit. You could ask Quora to increase the daily limit.UPDATE:After testing one of my questions I reached a request answer count of 33/25. The top of the request search window has a running count.

People Trust Us

We realized that CocoDoc was a feature of our applicant tracking system called JazzHR. We used to have to create offer letters for candidates manually, then get the hiring manager to give their signature and finally wait for the candidate to give their signature. We started automating our offer letters through JazzHR which uses CocoDoc and it has likely saved us at least 1.5 hours of work, down to 20-30 minutes to get a offer letter together. We can set the order of who signs the offer letters: e.g., first go to HR to review, then goes to the hiring manager and finally the candidates can sign through CocoDoc. I love that CocoDoc updates everyone in the process through email and also sends reminders if a document hasn't been signed. This has helped us to get offer letters back much more quickly. We started using CocoDoc for any document that required a signature. Once everyone signs, it will email you a copy of the PDF with signature.
