PDF Editor FAQ

Is it true that most people report experiencing their greatest levels of psychological satisfaction with life in the later years (65+ or so)?

It is true for this one person, I don’t have other data in front of me (no provided evidence) so I’ll stick with me. What has changed?Well, nothing has changed but I have grown. I am very grateful that the past is behind me now. It’s done and I did a hell of a job with it, good and bad. Friends, experiences, lovers, children, careers and loss alike. There was a tug of war initially when things that I saw or could do had diminished, sure. But then real change as learning swept into my life. My husband died in 2011. 30 years together gone and these days I feel release. We’re not going into that why. And then..Diagnosis of an illness. Why would an illness bring a great level or be a gift. It was because I learned. Can you imagine turning 50 and beginning to be? Younger years were wonderful, exciting and very full. Schedules, projects, kids, I feel like my 20/30s were grocery stores, kids and school. Those were years that I ran for miles just to be alone. Things are different now. I live in the moment now.Today with MS I can no longer run. What is physiological satisfaction, is it peace? And learning, understanding, accepting, loving, receiving and giving, in ways that are newness? The changes are as deep and sure as was learning and the altering of my life. No, I would not go back. Sometimes it hard to believe that I was ever there. I don’t think that youth is wasted on the young. I had my time and I pushed the sanguine and wise out of the way. I was busy but now all of ‘her’ memories play in an older mind and I see they were perfect. Crazy, reckless, despairing and painfully what they needed to be. It’s hard to grow up at any age but thank goodness the past is there to guide me.I am ok with age. That ladder I used to sling over a shoulder mocks me from a distance now but the psychological satisfaction is winking at it in return. I’m here, you’re there, someone will get to you and I am good. Right here.** Disclaimer: I write in bold face type because I have Multiple Sclerosis . Poor eyesight as a result of Optic Neuritis.** It is for medical reasons. If my need for bold print bothers you in any way, I suggest that you do not respond to my posts.

What would it mean if the human mind would stop ageing?

I'm not sure what you mean by the mind aging?Stops growing up?Fails with the passage of time?I'm over 70 years old and have as agile a mind as ever! I'm still able to understand and assimilate complex new information.I'm certainly not 'forgetful' or confused or slower than I was.I would consider myself to have an average 'older' mind. Which is to say, no discernible difference to my forty year old mind or indeed my thirty year old mind.My impression is that, although my body might be falling apart at the seams, my mind seems immune to the ravages of time.In answer to the question: Nothing at all.

Should I at first take a course on Deep Learning or Machine Learning if I want to learn Computer Vision?

That would largely depend on the curriculum that the two courses offer. I’d suggest taking the higher level course first(e.g if the machine learning course contains an overview of deep learning take that first). And then dive into more detail. However bare in mind that computer vision is the field of AI with the most math. So taking a math course with emphasis on geometry in particular would be very helpful, especially in order to understand older techniques such as Haar cascades (which are still used today for face detection).
